And I was thinking the same about the chinese racism and adversion against dark skin, but I didn't knew if I was correct. It's a shame... So, if they don't cast so many diverse women with dark skin, I hope they make it up with asian models tbh. I would love to see a lot of chinese, japanese, korean etc models, I love them and they are not very used by VS. It would be a change, certainly. Waiting for Mig to have her wingsss

When I was in Shanghai I noticed that almost all the women I saw would go out of their way to slather on sunblock when going outside, carry parasols, and bleach their skin to look as pale as I did. If VS is trying to placate the Asian audience then I wouldn't expect darker skinned models and rather a heavy use of Caucasians with pale skin and light or red hair.  .. that's IF they're trying to placate.

 

Yeah the Sun is like The Skin Killer in some Asian cultures. Like you said in parts of China (especially in HK and Shanghai), Japan, and South Korea. It is not just pale but also flawless and radiant. I know women who freak out if they get a freckle  Skincare products, techniques, plastic surgery are HUGE in some Asian countries. With the Vietnamese it is more of a recent thing b/c they are tired of some Asian cultures viewing them as inferior. Many Vietnamese like to mention they have Chinese blood in them so they are view more highly  

I don't think VS necessarily need to placate the Asian audience nor should they. It is a global brand so it would probably benefit them if they have diverse models  And it is not like people in Asia in general dislike dark-skinned folks so it is not going to cause an upraise or tension if they had a diverse cast  

So, according to her instagram stories, Chase Carter was in Bahamas 4 hours ago and she was going to catch a flight... do we asume she didn't make it? I don't know how long it takes from the Bahamas to NYC tbh
