I just feel bad for those models who got to shoot in a wonderful place as Wyoming but they got a pretty shitty photoshoot because of Ruven and the editing.

But funny enough, I still prefer their shoots over the majority of the other models who got the same old beachy pics.

Remember when Samantha Hoopers wore a "Do my nipples offend you" shirt? I guess they did offend someone, because they are back to blurring even mild see-through pics. So I guess it turns out that the female body must be hidden away? Some of the shoots obviously were sexy enough given the instagram posts, but they excluded that from the published pictures.

I have no idea who their target market is. The 100 viewers they get on their instagram yoga streams are not going to keep them in business.

No-one is going to rush out to buy a generic instagram/catalogue shoot like this.

I notice they have no ad deals this year. I am getting ads for flash games! Dodge etc. are not going to want to be associated with this. No ad deals = no revenue = no 2021 issue.

Their facebook page has 6 million followers. Their "2020 is here" video has 1K views. Sexy videos from 2018 generally got 1M+ views. So MJ is presiding over a 1000x drop in social media engagement. I can only assume Maven are happy to let SI Swimsuit fail this year so they can fire everyone with cause.

Same here, I was just going to say the Wyoming photos were much interesting than the rest. The one thing that ruins them for me is the freaking ugly boots, the rest I can live with.

Regarding your first observation, Hoopla, back in the 19th century, the American artist Thomas Eakins was fired for removing the loincloth from a male model in front of female students in one of his drawing classes. Seems like with SI"s puritanism things haven't changed so much in 150 years. Still amazing that some people still feel that the sight of a female nipple will cause civilization to collapse!

I think that the rise of the internet (and porn with it to be fair) is slowly but surely putting these men's magazines out of business. Sports websites are also slowing down. For example, really good website The Athletic recently had to fire a lot of writers (8% of their staff) to cut costs. Car magazines are also going down because you can now watch a car review on YouTube, why look at just few photos trying to imagine how the car looks and sounds when you can see it in video? Why buy SI when you can find all the photos from the shoot on Bellazon, Reddit and hundreds of other sites for absolutely free?

So my theory is that since men are turning away from this traditionally men's media, the magazines are trying to save themselves by attracting female customers while propagating feminism, 'all bodies are beautiful' and stuff like that. Playboy tried to do it, Maxim too. Female customers will always go for Vogue, Elle and similar stuff (and even those magazines are going under) than they are willing to switch to men's magazines.

Overall, they are just postponing the inevitable.
