But I always think my accent sounds hard, but if I talk "softer" I sound so "wannabe-american/bored" and then I prefer the "harder" pronounciation.

haha thank you, I think it's all about the person and not really a nation, maybe southern people seem more outgoing, they are more temperamental, for others including myself it takes some time to make friends and everything.
