Why are you single?

Today at school we had a discussion between a couple singles and a couple people who are in relationships. (yeah I know we should be studying, but this is more fun:))
The question was basically: Why are you single?
Most singles answered: Because the good men/women are already taken.
Following that logic, if you're not taken, doesn't that mean that you're not a good man/woman?
Why do you think so many people are single? And what are your reasons?
I was single for a very long time before I met my current gf. I guess it's partly because once you reach a certain age, the best are indeed taken. 
Either that, or you are too picky, or you just don't meet anyone you "click" with.
lol, I guess it depends on the person. I think it's more of a mental type thing... if you're single and don't want to be single then of course you're going to be miserable... but the people that've been single for a long time are types that are content with their life flying solo. all depends on your outlook of life I think.
anyways, everyones different. Some people just don't care for attention and don't want to fall in love. 'cause i know people who are scared to get hurt or don't want to end up like their friends, so they're okay with just having friends and going out and doing their thing. But I also know people who want attention, they say they don't want a boyfriend/girlfriend, so they find that attention from some other resource to keep them happy. :|

That's the thing. Most singles said they did have that click, but with someone who was already in a relationship. Is it because people always want what they can't have?

My last relationship lasted for 6 yrs. I am currently single b/c I have other priorities in my life, therefore I am not really putting myself out there or seeking. Also, the right guy has not come along yet. I believe stuff like this you can't alway seek. Sometimes you have to let things be. It weird b/c when you are not looking, you often do find someone

i'm single because guys are great when it comes to sex, but they kinda suck when it comes to relationships but i'm happy to be single
because I am a bad man/woman (both cases apply simultaneously :|)
That, and I haven't been looking for a while. First off, I don't really enjoy being around people my age...well I do, but when it comes to relationships I'd rather someone who has a few more years of experience in life than me. Also, I'm comfortable being single and honestly don't think I could spare enough time for a partner unless they wanted to sleep 12 hours a day or something or sleep 12 hours a day

im quite shy and feel that u shudnt go out with someone for the sake of it but only if u really like them...i havent found that person yet
