Is it fair to do a global punishment when only a few are responsable for the chaos? dont seem fair to me

I speak of this site as "our" site(all the staff). It is a democracy and always has been and hopefully always will be. The decision to fire neo was a group vote not me, if anything i imposed my will for a long time to keep him here.

Well the reason why I want to close the sub-froum is it will give us (although I am sure it will be just me, but I would greatly appreciate some help ) an opportunity to clean up the sub-forum. When I say "clean up" I mean delete flame wars and petty fights, and fix hotlinks, nudity, and etc. I am not saying we go through all the pages---just the last 10-20 pages of each thread

If we ban only the offenders, then we would be banning almost 50% of the members who post in those threads Yes there are only a few instigators but the way I see it, regardless did a member start a fight or not, as long as he/she participated he/she is just as guilty (Y) And we all know how... passionate Lima-holics are in discussions Another thing, this will gives members a chance to start following the rules

Also, it is pretty obvious there is a general disregard for the rules in that sub-forum (and kinda for the staff as well ) In order for them to understand we do not condone such obnoxious behaviors and we are not going to take their crap anymore, we need to go a bit extreme. Furthermore, this would encourage them to think before they post in the future and monitor each other more closely

*note i didnt mean really ban the offenders (unless they are repeat and they deserve it) but definantly hand out harsh warnings. Can you put people on like temporary no post privs

We've discussed the Neo situation numerous times on here, yet it seems you are still convinced it was some evil conspiracy that cost him his place on the staff, not his own behavior. It's very unfair to pin this down on James, especially since, like he mentioned, he protected Neo for a long time. (Much to the dismay of part of the staff and forum community, I might add).

Also, most of the staff and forum community seem fairly content with the forum as it is, you seem to be the only one who feels the need for a huge overhaul. A lot of times, stuff like that tends to scare away as many old members as it attracts new ones. By your own admission, we're a fairly successful on line community, but somehow the way that success was achieved is not to your liking, so you want to pull the plug and start over?

And in my view, BZ does not belong to anyone. Sure, we might be hosted by James and you might have started this place, but it's the thousands of average members that made this site what it is. Both you and James deserve credit for your part in creating and keeping this place online, but your opinion of it is no more valid than that of a regular member. And I don't see regular members demanding a major overhaul.

Damn man, I don't want this to return to Neo again. Look, in my opinion it could never seem right to me for a bunch of people (staff) to get together and agree to fire the guy who started the website, and appointed them in their position. That doesn't seem fair. But, I respect the decision of the staff, and I understand that I'm not really in a position to give an informed opinion considering I wasn't present during the whole thing.

As for 'rankings'... certainly. I don't view myself as superior to any other admin. If anything the fact that I only recently came back on the scene would, and should, lessen my 'rank'. -- although that shouldn't diminish my opinion. I was merely suggesting that MadDog, like all of us, should fairly discuss every issue, instead of speaking as if he has the final word.

But, I didn't mean to start a sniping contest between members of the staff. There's no use in that. Can we primarily discuss the issues at hand?

What I am saying is not that we should 'pull the plug' and 'start over', or that everyone has been screwing up or something. No, I'm just saying that the present presentability, style, look, and appeal of the site doesn't reflect, in terms of quality, the content and membership. We've been open 3 years, but to a new visitor, it looks like a hastily constructed website that opened a few months ago. It really should be a lot sexier. That isn't hard to do, if someone with access to the servers had the motivation.

The only quibble I have with giving nothingless her own thread is that she's only here from time to time, but that's not really a reason to refuse, I guess.

If the rest of you feel she's done enough meaningful contributions to the forum then I'm all for it. I'll just follow the majority decision in this one, I don't really know her well enough.

As for the Joker, I still think she needs a major attitude change before we give her her own thread. Her shtick is getting a bit old, and it's not because you choose to joke and "entertain" you get a free pass to bend the rules whenever you feel like it. She's responsible for starting and/or adding fuel to a good portion of the Adriana fights on here.

I actually think we should give The Joker a thread Although the majority of the staff dislikes her, but many members do like her---the number of members who have requested a thread for her is proof Also, perhaps having a thread would decrease her spamming in other threads

I very much doubt that, she'd just have one more place to spam in.

Do we even have some ground-rules about who we award a thread to or not? I guess being here long enough and having posted enough during that period are two prerequisites, but shouldn't repeated run-ins with the staff (or lack thereof) be another aspect to consider in awarding user threads?

^ re: the ground rules thing: no not really I personally judge on a few things 1) contribution (as well as length of time on the board), 2) popularity (if you contribute a lot but don't really talk to other members of the board, I really don't see any point in giving you a thread as these threads tend to die quickly ), and 3) whether or not the person has given the staff a hard time in the past.

I don't know if when the board was started there was a set of guidelines for how to determine whether or not someone deserved a thread but this is basically how I've been voting for the past 2 years :| I don't know how other people do it but maybe we could come up with something that would make our judgment process a little easier.

I noticed [solo] is the only staff member, aside from Azulus, who does not have personal thread. It is ok, if I opened one for him?
