I no longer get the option to be able to login anonymously, is there a fix for this, or can I change it in Admin panel?

Yes I upgrade the forum software and they appeared. I tried to disable the option in the AdminCP but it doesnt appear to work. I submitted a ticket earlier today with the dev to investigate.

Just had someone inquiring about Instagram embeds, apparently they're no longer able to share IG posts directly to the forum, instead they're appearing as textlinks.

Seems like we've lost the ability to change text type now.

People can no longer hide nudity as there is no spoiler button.

Another query for @maddog107 if at all possible, someone in "Site and Forum" is asking about the possibility of having a text field where members can add their preferred gender rather than picking from the forum's built-in list. I've tagged you in the discussion.

Are we literally going to cave to one person who is irky about not being able to "pick a gender"... one person in 17 years?... Why are we bending to woke culture when the vast majority of us are saying enough is enough.. I have people in my PM's pointing out this bullshit and are completely floored we're even thinking about it. We're on a very slippery slope here and once we cave to the wants of one, we cave to all...

Well, for what it's worth, I think a little effort to be respectful of others, whether we fully understand them or not, can say a lot about who we are as a forum. Or this is not meant to be a community of friendly people?

I wasn't aware we weren't a friendly community already and that a friendly community meant a person got to pick "Peanut Butter" as a gender?

This person is just looking for a reason to complain about shit and I can promise you with every fiber of my being they aren't truly bothered by not being able to pick a gender on a random fashion forum online, and this will be a big ole flex to see if they can get the feature so they get virtue points to appease their "fragile" soul.

Besides, they've got Tiktok, Facebook and Twitter to show just how sassy and or upset they are with the world.

You guys are going to do what you guys are going to do, but I am adamantly admittedly against this. Our forum is perfect as is. The rules are fine, the people are good, and no we don't need to see nipples..

And now I'm getting a PM from this person   I'm not touching this shit because nothing I say or do is going to change the fact that they're find a reason to be perpetually offended by something and I'm not here for it.

I'll be honest, there are many parts of the forum where I haven't seen much evidence of friendliness recently. And by "recently" I mean the last several years. GenTalk for example has become an anti-everything rabbit hole, it's filled with topics and posts where hostile terms are directed at just about every group one can imagine.

Who that person is is inconsequential and if they misbehave they'll be banned, just like anyone else. The point is that a forum should be a welcoming place and at the moment, I personally think we're falling well short of that.

So we want to accommodate someone who by default is bitching about lack of gender pronouns.  But is basically a self declared female. Also, someone who has already been given a warning due to calling a model ugly?

Not arguing. Just trying to get a better idea of what we’re looking at

There are so many technical issues with the forum that I think this may be a low priority…

Oh and as for nipples… we have minors on the forum. I personally am not comfortable with nudity being just out there without any warning. It also creates a situation where you can’t necessarily safely browse BZ at work or around family members.
At least with the spoilers you didn’t have to worry about a co worker or family member glancing over your shoulder and seeing tits, ass or dongarinos.

For the record the warning they were given was deserved, although on balance, what they said wasn't dissimilar to statements thrown around like confetti in other areas of the site on a virtual daily basis. Be that as it may though, breaking the rules once shouldn't automatically invalidate everything someone says afterwards.

Like I said, it's not about accommodating anyone in particular, it's about accommodating everyone. Which I think I'm right in thinking is meant to be the point of having a forum.

I agree.

Plus letting members choose whatever gender they want ain't gonna change my life, so if they want Male, Female, Non-Binary or Unicorn I am cool with it, whatever floats their boat as long as they are being respectful to everyone else.

I'm not saying that her opinion is invalidated, nor am I disagreeing with the warning. I'm pointing out that this individual is hypocritical. Let's protect the feelings of one set of people, (because it's woke and trendy), but insult another group. Oh, wait, they aren't marginalized so it's okay.

I also don't care one way or the other about allowing multiple genders. I don't particularly agree with it, but , however there are multiple issues with the forum that are actually affecting the operational quality, so perhaps we should focus on those and table this for the time being.

Obviously some staff have reached a consensus and because I don't give a shit if someone picks unicorn as a gender then go for it. I mean, I know how I feel about people who identify has "peanut butter and/or a wolf" but at the end of the day it's doesn't matter how I feel, if it makes you or whoever is choosing that feel better about themselves/yourself it's all good right?

Gender discussion aside, I do think agree with Pheno we need to fix several other issues before this, like the spoiler tag, the e-mail validation, not being able to change fonts, etc. Unless the gender thing it's something that can be changed in five minutes? Otherwise I do agree it's not even remotely close to being the #1 issue in the forum right now.

At no point did I say this should be treated as a matter of urgency, it was literally just a query. The forum becoming a closed shop is something that concerns me, though.

Overall, it sounds like we're very preoccupied with the feelings of people (not that something like this would directly affect them) who we know for a fact think nothing of posting insulting things themselves. Things that they're aware others find disconcerting, but keep doing it anyway.

You're correct you didn't state it was a matter of urgency and I did take it as such, so I apologize. I personally feel we should table the discussion and address the current ongoing issues. I'm not saying we shouldn't address it in the future, but I don't think expressing an opinion against it should be considered "a closed shop".

As for being preoccupied with peoples feelings. I find that statement ironic as putting in gender pronouns is doing just that, catering to people's feelings.

To continue on the thread of feelings; people posting things on the forum that are opinion shouldn't be considered disconcerting unless it's actively bashing someone else. Differences of opinion are healthy and generate debate and discourse which is good for our culture and society. If everyone says the same thing it becomes stagnant and boring.

I'm assuming that comment was directed at the political posts done in the "what are you thinking about thread" and to some degree in reference to differences of opinion on the "new models/body types" that are being thrust on us.

We don't all need to like or agree with the same things. There's a difference between expressing distaste for something and calling someone ugly or fat or stupid. If you don't like what someone is saying simply scroll past it, there's absolutely no reason to get hung up on it.
