This is more of a suggestion that a problem, but is there any possibility of having some sort of more compact video thumbnails? Maybe a small thumbnail that opens into a video screen when clicked? They're really bulky on my screen when there are several on a post/page and they lag the loading.
I know you have a lot of other stuff to deal with as well, so I get if this isn't a priority!

Ie) Lorena's thread, where there are 10+ videos uploaded to the page. They're too wide to fit more than one across, and make scrolling unwieldy, and loading the page slow. (See this page for an example)

I think I know what @toodarnhot means and what might cause this vertical/portrait videos to exceed the screen size of most PC monitors.
Below is an example of the same video 1280x720 at 0° and 720x1280 at 90°:

As you can see although this is the same video only 90° rotated the sizes of the embeddings differ a lot.
So I think that the embedding forces the width of an video to 700px max., but does not force the height, so the height is variable.
Meaning the horizontal 0° video is embedded at 700x394 while the vertical 90° video is embedded at 700x1244, which exceeds
every 1080p and 1200p monitor even in full screen.
Even if I were to change the embedded code manually, the desired (smaller size) doesn't take effect after sending...

With embeddings like Youtube Vimeo Coub gfycat etc. on the other hand, I can freely set the desired resolution and position of the embeddings to my liking.

@toodarnhot's suggestion is some kind of splash-screen/pop-up like the images on BZ have, or setting a max. height for vertical videos. See example below:
So here is what I see, I see them all stacked one above another. I am using a macbook. So you see them all next to each other? Or are you simply saying that the videos should have thumbs that you can open bigger so you dont have to scroll down so much?
^ The video’s having thumbs, or at least the option for them? It is a lot of scrolling and lagging for video heavy pages, especially when you’re browsing on mobile. Again, not a huge deal but just something that I think would be a nice improvement.
I get what she's saying. I know when I go on the forum on my phone all video files and most especially instagram posts of videos won't open correctly as they are larger then my screen. It's quite irritating when trying to read/scroll.
Agreed. Give them thumbnails.
I have the same issue as Pheno on mobile. The first screenshot is how they load regularly (just a white square with a play button) and the second is after you click play. These are on an iPhone X so the screen size is already pretty large.
My last post got posted 11 times! I've never seen that. Double posts or triple posts have already happened (last time was today), but 11 times??

^ Yes, it was really slow. I clicked on "Submit reply", the button froze and then, about 10 seconds later, the 11 posts appeared.

I was creating some new indexes in the DB around that time, it took maybe 10mins to create, so maybe when you hit submit it was at the same time so it got super backed up. Let me know if it happens again.
Does anyone know what excludes a particular photo “ this value not allowed” from being used as a thumbnail? Is the feature allowing a pic from your device files to be used as a thumbnail supposed to work? I couldn’t change Lotta Kaijarvi’s thumbnail this AM after multiple attempts.
