I have much experience at a history forum and our alternate history section is composed mostly of that sort of thing.
The odds of them winning revolved around the collapse of the Soviet state and thus the collapse SU's military industrial complex. They lost the war in the battles for Smolensk during the summer of 1941 as they frittered away the rest of the summer fighting against soviet counteroffensives. Even the Chief of the Oberkommando des Heeres (OKW) General Staff Halder admitted this during the war.
In the summer of 1942, even Adolf Hitler admitted that 'If we do not seize the oil of the caucasus, then the war will be lost". The chances of them ultimately winning were low in 1941 and almost zero in the summer of 1942. The war was an exercise in unnecessary horror.
Alternate history is most fertile, but the fact of the matter is that many bookcases full modern scholarship, primary sources, and immense data storage contradict the idea that they could have won. I find that people who gravitate toward these 'It was a close run thing' beliefs tend to know the war only at a superficial level and have a Starry eyed impression of the Wehrmacht. They tend to be disinterested in the allied armies and military potential. This then feeds the alternate history fantasies and novels...

Hey don, a somewhat quick question for you. What's the general consensus of global warming in your country and the actions needed and being implemented to avoid man made warming that could potential change the face of our planet as we know it?
I bring this up due to the debate that is going back and forth here and has been so for some time now between both parties and how one basically sees it as a catastrophe waiting to happen and action must be taken at once. While the other deems it as alarmist views and let's go ahead with the Keystone oil pipeline...try to figure out which party that one is. ![]()

donbot: you have the best taste in models...and I'm bored of the same old crop. You always find these Sara Stephan esque types, and I don't see too many of those girls often (I wish I did). Please introduce me to some girls that I might not be aware of
To be honest I couldn't really tell you - I pay so little attention to politics and news in generalHey don, a somewhat quick question for you. We're not exactly leading the charge when it comes to climate change though.

Well I came across Sibui Nazarenko for the first time today and was quite taken with her - I've just updated her thread with a bunch of stuff (nicked from tfs
).
There's a smidge of Jac about her, so you might like her in that regard ![]()

Then these girls I'm not sure if you've come across before - I adore all of them, but they're not super popular around here (all less than 5 pages, except the first):

I get you there sir. I'm not a fan of politics either as they simply have been restraining the change we need in our energy policies here but luckily we here in California are moving in the direction needed for a more sustainable future. We still have a good ways to go though but I do see the light at the end of the tunnel now. ![]()
Hmm, so you dont see any solar projects whether they be commercial or residential popping up near you? I've been reading quite a bit about Australia's urban sprawl over the years so I wonder if they are implementing solar instillation on rooftops as a key feature considering the fact that many parts are prime for solar panel instillation.
On a lighter note...DAT HAT! ![]()

Not really.. I mean a fair few people have solar panels on their house, but they're not super widespread. And I kind of feel like they've always been around, before the rise of climate change awareness over the last 10 yearsI get you there sir. Environmentalism and preservation has a very long history in US political priorities. I believe that it first appeared as a formidable political force in England (political economist Malthus) and was most popularized by Karl Marx and socialist & communist movements. Socialist, state action, and Statist beliefs tend to go hand in hand with environmentalism as these movements require acquiring tax dollars.
In US political culture, it tends to flare up in times of plenty and get killed off in times of hardship. When it flares up, it's usually accompanied by a media blitz supported by intellectual authority figures that characterize certain issues as urgent problems. More than a hundred years ago, the Roosevelt administration embraced preservation but this was interrupted in later administrations by the great depression, world wars, and the heating up of the 'Cold War'. It started growing again in the 1960s academia and reach an apogee with the Jimmy Carter Administration, which installed solar panels on top of the White House. Carter put into action many environmentalist policies including stimulation of solar technology. But afterwards, the Election of Ronald Reagan killed off the movement again as Reagan removed many of Carter's policies. Both Bush administrations were then again, preoccupied by war and finally we have Obama.
So in the last 120 years or so, the Environmentalist movement has risen three times but this time I believe that it has more legs going for it as a solid base of wealth and nascent industries have been established for it to feed on. The problem that environmentalists however, face is the fact that the world's biggest industrial economies like China, India, and Russia do not care about sustainability.
I have seen a lot of public solar panels being installed on the East coast during Obama's first term and following greentech stocks have been interesting to see.

^ Ah interesting, thanks for your personal insight sir. I was just wondering what the development and widespread use of solar was in your immediate area too. Now that solar is competing with fossil fuels in terms of price per kw/h it's amazing how many rooftop installations have popped up all over the place around here. Not to mention huge solar utility projects that are being approved left and right. I must say, it's nice knowing that oil has a sort of decline in my eyes for my state, long ways to go, but I do see it now.

I've heard of all the other gals from the pola comp
Marina is adorable
Alexandra looks more flattering in that pic than she did in the pola comp template I thought.

Unfortunately I haven't seen a whole lot of editorial work from Alexandra - that set is great though. I do really like her polaroids though - she reminds me of a Rachel McAdams in thoseOhhh that Sibui is very Jac esque...I like

Looks interesting, tell me how they go. The first looks like GTA but with more emphasis on NPCs (the motion capture looks quite lifelike). it has an original theme.
I've seen a little so far (full release) and Wolfenstein resembles 'half life' and 'metro'. There's a lot of open ended exploration and puzzle-like environments, and I saw 'the concentration camp of the future , Atlantian civilization/Antarctica archaeological site, U-boat, giant Nazi mecha bosses, and the Nazi shuttle/moonbase..'..lots of nazi fantasy tropes here.
The design is interesting. BTW, when you get it, can you find why there are two types of cyborgs? There is one type that is powered by a human brain in a bottle, and the other type looks like a corpse in a metal suit.

Sir don, you're a fan of a nice rear end no? ![]()
Ever head of a girl named Mariana Davalous? If not I think you need to see the below...
