Jennka, you've just hit 20 without any fanfare?Actually I´ve noticed that yesterday, when you wrote that you have reached 8,000
I wanted to write about it in my thread, but then I forgot, lol. If I may here....

You´re too kind Don!! :persuazn: ![]()
thank you ![]()

I can't believe I forgot to add the Hellsing theme when we were talking about cartoon themes
. Many anime shows have tons even in the same season and I hate most of them, but I love that one at least
. Anything new on your indie scene
?

^Features wise, no - but I think it's more in how they dress and carry themselves (and I don't mean Canadians wearing maple leafs on everything!). Often you can tell a persons nationality in, say, a big tourist attraction where people are from all over the world - simply by looking at them. But if you're talking primarily WASP features then it's negligible. It's like how you can tell somebody is Afro-Caribbean as opposed to from Africa itself...
Australians, Kiwis, and Californians (LOL) seem to be automatically more tan due to the climate ![]()

Yeah that's a good one ![]()
The indie scene.. hmm.. well, I just saw Gotye perform again on the weekend (the funny lookin' naked guy from that video I posted in your thread a little while ago, with the equally naked Kimbra in it
). That guy is such an amazing singer and musician. He's a beast on the drums.
I'm also totally in love with this song right now, Filthy by Ngaiire. Can't find a YouTube of it, but you can download it here -> [link]. Beautiful voice ![]()

Its funny to me for some reason to think about all the fact that after your post, I was determined to remember both names. After turning up Golem, Gargoyles ect. with his, I gave up and just put Kimbra duet and it was the first thing that came up. I looked up some more of his stuff and liked the Hearts a Mess video, but his voice was outshinnned by the visuals so I'll check out more. Its good to know he plays the drums. With the girl, even I'm almost ashamed of the horrors I put her name through
. I can't or am not supposed to download here, but her voice was amazing in the Australian Idol video I found
. She seems to have emotion, richness of timbre, control, range and power as well.

Not surprising it was the first one that came up. That song really took off here since I posted that in your thread (not that I'm claiming responsibility
). Went to #1 in the charts, then commercial radio stations got their filthy hands on it and started playing it 10 times a day :persuazn: Gotye and Kimbra both took out the best Male/Female artist awards at the Arias (Australian Grammys basically) last month too. Pretty awesome to see them both get some deserved recognition. Gotye's actually got an amazing voice. I never fully appreciated it until I saw him perform live though - I don't think it ever really comes through as strongly on his recordings. But having said that, his music is more about his music I suppose. I really wish there was more HQ live music on YouTube (I really have no idea why people bother uploading their shitty phone recordings :|). This one's pretty cool - but his live shows are obviously a lot more fleshed out, with 10 or so other musicians behind him.

Lame region restrictions :persuazn: She reminds me a little of that Ingrid Michaelson on this Filthy song, especially since she's rocking a ukelele on it. I didn't know she was on Australian Idol.. I guess it's not all bad after all ![]()
Actually this guy was apparently on there too, and I've been absolutely loving this song in recent weeks (Y)

btw don, yesterday I read about the evolution in Australia... especially about the marsupials and how it is that there is so many of them in Australia and very few of them in the other parts of the world. As I understood it, they originally evolved in North America and then moved through Arctic (the continents were still together at that time) to the Australia - and then, when the continents separated they evolved individually mostly there (in North America they were extincted by predators and by people much later) - but scientists still have no idea what made the country so good for them and which kind of other mammals came with them on the continent (firstly people thought there were no other kinds of predators mammals in Australia until people brought sme species, but they were proven wrong by one scientist who found the relics of a mammal from exactly that age of the come) - and why the marsupials have survived and evolved and the other mammals not.
Still nothing about the venomous and dangerous ones. But great to learn anyway ![]()

Ah yes, I have vivid memories of those horrible green and yellow fluro splotches adorning the faces of many a child at school sports carnivals. Take that, sunlight :persuazn:

Interesting ![]()
Have you heard of these animals called tenrecs? I remember them talking about them on QI last series. They evolved in isolation in Madagascar, and they come in all sorts of diverse species.. ranging from things that closely resemble hedgehogs to others that looks like shrews and possums, even though they're completely unrelated to them. They just solved problems and filled niches in the same way that other animals did across Europe and the rest of the world. Convergent evolution.. pretty fascinating! Nature never ceases to amaze ![]()
Luckily Kimbra is actually a Kiwi, so maybe I only have to invent half a cake. Maybe a cupcake. She was actually on the radio this morning, performing a live double-cover mashup of Two Weeks by Grizzly Bear and Head Over Heels by Tears For Fears. That's a perfect storm of awesome right there.. she's the bestAnyone interested in listening, it's here --> clicky
And finally a video! ![]()

No, I haven´t - thank you for showing them to me, they´re amazing! Nature never cease to amaze me too... and Madagascar is really special when it goes to evolution. Isolated island with species that cannot be found anywhere else in the world... isn´t that precious?

There's no better place for it <_<

I'm 6 degrees of separation away from Caroline Winberg.![]()
Reminds me of a time i met this guys on my travels. We were discussing the whole concept of six degrees of separation I was suggesting although in the traveling world i was totally behind the idea, (in fact i would say its even smaller then that) i was however a little skeptical about it in the "real world". He then proceeded to link up myself with both Brad Pitt and Barack Obama! Which i have to say left a little speechless and without an argument.
But here is a story for you, I was staying in Phnom Phen, Cambodia.(Capital) During my stay there I met this German girl called Gretta. Who was without doubt a total wild child. Tweny one years young and absolutely living life to the fullest. Taking every drug going and hooking up with both men and women (the latter was i must say a joyous occasion
Although you should have seen the faces of the previous guys she hooked up with who thought they were getting somewhere with her
) She was certianly the main focal point of that period of time for everyone staying at that particular hostel.
Anyways before long my time was up in Cambodia and I headed into Vietnam. I traveled with a guy called Bex, who was there too and told me that in actually fact she was in a committed relationship with a Kiwi. He was staying up in the north of Vietnam waiting for her to join him, then they would go off traveling together. When I heard this story sure i felt sorry for the guy but didn't really think much of it and as i traveled through Vietnam that particular story became a distant memory as new ones replaced it.
About three weeks later, I eventually made it to Hanoi and oddly enough bumped into a couple of girls that i stayed with on a Island in Cambodia. They introduced me to a guy they had met there and all was hunky dory. As the evening progressed the drinks continued to come fast and flowing. And of course as i am sure you are aware with that so does the truth. He then started talking about how he had been heart broken by this girl who was sleeping behind his back. (At first it didn't click) He carried on by saying he was waiting up here for her. I was like thinking okay...this sounds a little more familar. He then mentioned she was a german girl called Gretta...I was like thinking OMG!! Its her!! I couldn't believe the chances of me bumping into the guy who was waiting for this wild girl i met in Cambodia. I didn't have the heart to tell him that i knew her. Because of the way she was behaving. It would have broken him. Not to mention I had actually hooked up with her myself ![]()
( i soo didn't know honest
) Thought best of it and kept my mouth shut. Plus my balls intact ![]()
If there is ever a definition of Six degrees of separation then thats it ![]()
^More like sex degrees of separation ![]()

Great story though ![]()
