I haven't finished Burial at Sea Part 1 yet. almost done.
I dunno why i procrastinate when it's fun.

Wow, Hailey Clauson: Is this real and does her bust really look like that now?? This is a pretty outstanding silhouette...

There isn't much I don't like about it. The cast is phenomenal - from the main ensemble down to the minor players. The characters are all wonderfully realised and well fleshed out, and the narrative really pulls you along as it weaves in and out of each of their stories. At its core I suppose its themed around love, death, regret and redemption and how the characters are dealing with some/all of these things in different ways. At times it's quite raw and often deeply human, and just resonated really strongly with me from start to finish. The cinematography is beautiful, and the soundtrack is wonderful (much of it done by the great Aimee Mann
) - both perhaps coming to the fore in the famous "Wise Up" montage, which still gives me chills
I like that you kept putting them back
You surely kept them longer than I would have

I was thinking about padding...:-p
You know, I did cheat and skim through Magnolia a little.
I have to say that my initial impression put me off from watching it: it looks like an ensemble film that relies on a lot of quirky contrivances. I tend to prefer movies with a strong central character. I'll give it another go later..

BTW, this is the original TWBB Trailer. I think's it's better than the one that they replaced it with, and is probably one of the best trailers ever put together.
TWBB is the only time I cared about the Academy Awards...it was up against 'No Country for Old Men', and it lost

How does Punch-Drunk Love compare to say, Magnolia?
====================
This is the first part of a one hour interview with PTA and Day-Lewis about the making of TWBB.:
From what I've seen of this interview, Day-Lewis has a compelling and at the same way, odd way of speaking. He starts out with what is a deep thought- possibly a monologue of sorts, and Charlie Rose repeatedly cuts him short just to move on. Other times he just meanders around while using elegant words. PTA, on the other hand, comes across as being more shy and verbally uncertain of himself than I expected. He's actually quite terse here and I would have expected him to attempt to dominate the conversation, but he does not try to.
It's been a while since I've seen it, but it doesn't really hold many similarities with Magnolia. It has a very strange and off-kilter vibe to it - everything from the story and dialogue to the music. Even the casting decision of Adam Sandler. I don't know if it would be your thing or not, but it's certainly an interesting watch. How does Punch-Drunk Love compare to say, Magnolia?
I used to be a real DVD nut, watching all the extras (behind the scenes, interviews, commentaries, etc) so I've seen a fair bit of PTA. He's a really talented guy with strong visions and ideas. I wouldn't go so far as to call him verbally uncertain, but he doesn't exude a lot of extroverted confidence that a lot of other filmmakers do. I kind of like Charlie Rose interviews, in that it's a very no-nonsense environment where the guests get the space to talk for an extended period about their work. Charlie himself is about as bland as his set - but that's okay, because it's part of the no-nonsense deal. He is notorious for butting in though, and asking some stupid questions. They lampooned this quite overtly in For Your Consideration (Christopher GuestThis is the first part of a one hour interview with PTA and Day-Lewis about the making of TWBB.:

Must hide acorn at all costs and fleas!

I got to say Donny....Oddly enough I found the photography and locations to be more interesting than many the models themselves. :-p I only liked a handful of models this year.
Marloes had the best shoot in the whole issue IMO. Her photos of herself out & about for SI today are also quite nice.
The best ones:

Ok so I know Marloes' eyes are not the first things that draw attention in her SI photos
but I feel like they look somehow different than usual in the pictures? I was wondering if it's just me or if you also noticed it. 2 links for reference:

could it be... that she usually has heavier make-up/'smoky eyes' so they look a bit different?!? Maybe not as much in the second picture but she looks a bit different to me in the first one.
Love itMust hide acorn at all costs and fleas!
Marloes was just divine. I did love seeing those 'out & about' shots too.. unfortunately they're something of a rarity for her, beyond Instagram shots.I got to say Donny....Oddly enough I found the photography and locations to be more interesting than many the models themselves. :-p I only liked a handful of models this year.

Who else did you like? Any surprises.
Thank god they reeled back on the Photoshop this year. Looking back to last year, and even more so 2 years ago it boggles the mind how overboard they went with it.
May as well repost my roundup from the SI thread:
Anne
Not her best year, but not her worst. She looks tired in a lot of the shots.
Favourite pic:
Ariel
Never really a standout, but she looks nice. Loved the Switzerland location.
Favourite pic:
Bregje
Killed it. Not all the shots are winners, but she stands out as one of the most unique and sexiest.
The set underneath the shelter is incredible.
Favourite pic (can't decide):
Chanel
Haven't seen her for a long time.. she's a lot cuter than I remember
Pretty nice surprise after the resounding 'meh' at her announcement. Love the lemurs too
Favourite pic:
Chrissy
No.
Favourite pic:
Cris
Killer figure, but she doesn't really do it for me. She looks bored in a lot of her shots.
Favourite pic:
Emily D
A little disappointed.. most of the shots are nearly there but are somehow missing something.
Still some wonderful pics though, and she looks fantastic. Absolutely loving the lush greenery and snowy mountains
Favourite pic:
Emily R
No.
Favourite pic:
Genevieve
Totally forgettable. Except for the fringe. I like the fringe.
Favourite pic:
Gigi
Kinda cute, but meh.
Favourite pic:
Hannah D
Great body, but just not a fan.
Favourite pic:
Hannah F
Her body paint shoot is the best one by far this year, and for some time.. and not just because of the nipples <_< Phenomenal body and she looks beautiful.
Pity the rest of her pics are pretty bland.
Favourite pic:
Nudity
Irina
Used to be a big fan, but lost interest some time ago. She's still looking good, but just a bit bored with her.
Favourite pic:
Jessica
Finally a winning year for Jessica - she was long overdue for one. She looks great.
Favourite pic:
Kate B
No. But nice abs
Favourite pic:
Kate U
Best shoot so far, but no.
Favourite pic:
Lauren
Next.
Favourite pic:
Lily
Never been a fan of her, but wow she killed it. Best surprise of the issue - hope to see her back next year.
Favourite pic:
Marloes
Not all that keen on some of the shots, but the best of them are the best of the mag, and go into the pantheon of all time favourite SI pics. She is the dream
Favourite pic (can't decide):
Natasha
Disappointing, and nowhere near as good as last year. She still looks good though.
Favourite pic:
Nina
Girl is born to wear bikinis.
Looks as good as ever, but I was hoping for something a little different from her this year.
Favourite pic:
Samantha
No. o_O
Favourite pic:
Sara
No.
Looks like a dude I went to high school with
Favourite pic:
Valerie
Yikes
She looks a little rough at the best of times, but yeah.. these shots are not flattering at all.
Favourite pic:
I don't think it's the eyes so much. She often does have smokey-eyed makeup as you say, but I've seen plenty of her without it.Ok so I know Marloes' eyes are not the first things that draw attention in her SI photos

She does look quite odd in that first picture though - I think it's a combination of the minimal makeup, her hair which is not often styled like that, and perhaps most of all her eyebrows which strangely look half missing in that shot. If you squint your eyes it almost looks like she has none ![]()

This has been all over the net/news recently and just in case you haven't seen it here you go ![]()
