I mean, I know there are sick people over the internet (someone from BZ added me as a friend on Deviantart, and she had there like 4 pictures, one of them being Candice photo and the description underneath went with "This is me", with no comments allowed. I think it was beachbunny) - but I still find it utterly fascinating and stupid that people create various personas and lie to people on internet. WHY? It won´t change anything anyway, will it? You will still remain the same person with the same shitty life, so why even bother??

We are model fanatics so obviously we would enjoy the whole model-focus aspect of VS. As I mentioned before, VS is so significant in some model fanatics’ lives IT IS their life. People’s crazies usually come out in full force around this time of year

I think it may be the case that some of the women here see particular models as idealized versions of themselves, and thus are so attached to them.

They are promoting Candice more as they are fading out Adriana and Ale. Adriana is VS’ main cash cow so they are fading her out slower than Ale. Adriana also needs VS more than Ale because she doesn’t do much outside of VS. Ale has managed to venture out by doing work with other brands.
I hear your point about Adriana and Candice having the same pricing power. It does make sense but in practice it would not work. Like I said Adriana is their main cash cow. She is not only seasoned but she is also synonymous with the brand. Candice has not quite reach that level yet, but if VS keeps promoting her and if she plays her cards right she will eventually reach that level. Regardless, Adriana and Ale need to go soon. They can’t be with VS forever and I think it is time for some fresh faces to reign...just not Bubba

I was an Assistant Brand Manager at VS, not an intern. I think you are confusing it with Hearts On Fire (they did the 2006 Fantasy Bra). I did some branding work for them while at grad school.
I think the reason Candice stands out is b/c VS promotes her like crazy. She is in everything! Don’t get me wrong I do like Candice but it is obvious VS wants her to be the main face once Adriana and Ale hang up their wings.

I can see that, of course. I think she's the best angel they have. You know, I once talked to a woman who was stopping by from Georgia and, in our conversation, she started beaming so much about the 'VS giftcard' her husband gifted her for their anniversary. I don't think any high-brow, status-oriented urban woman would see the VS brand in that way, lol.

Many of the Angels have mentioned in interviews when VS looks at their inventory and items sold, they also look at the model who modeled the items. If an item did well, whoever modeled the item will get more shots and exposure. I am sure it is more complex than that and some sort of algorithm is involved, but that’s one way they determine which models get to stay, comeback, and let go.
That's what I assumed as well.

As for Bubba and Lindsay, they are promoting them as an attempt to make them "stick" and also to get as much ROI as possible. I could see Lindsay’s appeal. She has that sweet, innocent, blond, doe eye, look to her that could be considered sexy. Other than that her personality is pretty bland and in interviews she does not seem calm and natural. As for Erin, I don’t understand her appeal at all. She is a pretty girl with a commonplace look. You could easily find millions of girls who look like her. Also, she sounds snotty in her interviews. She tries to present herself as humble and down-to-earth but it all seems fake.
Lindsay looks like a woman that a 'country music' lover would fall in love with, and Erin seems very..commonly pretty as you say, and perhaps relatable. I'm sure many young girls, from all across the country, could see themselves as a 'Erin' or relate to her appearance and background? Erin's the 'hot girl' from 'high school'.
Something about the VS marketing strategy makes it seem like a scheme to pocket price premiums from people who live in lower-density areas and aren't saturated with too much buyer power and consumer choice. There's the town center, and it's now very often just a cluster of generic corporate stores.
VS also makes a lot of money from PINK but I think they consider it as a sub-brand that is not part of the main VS revenue
I understand why VS tries to be HF but it is not working. Most of their clothing items are poor quality nor is it stylish. Also most HF models are not suited to model lingerie. VS should just quit the whole HF and actually hire models who are qualified---this includes for the fashion show. I like seeing HF models at the show too but I feel quite a few are there just for the sake of being perceived as HF.
The line-up in 2005 was pretty good.
It's probably more expensive for VS to develop more models than the Angels they already have. I can see how VS can get good quality HF models on the cheap in this way by paying them once and mooching off their already established personal brand equity and familiarity. I wonder how much was this year's (IIRC) $12 million dollar budget were fees to the models themselves. Probably not too much.

I think Adriana’s “fame” has gone way into head that her sense of reality is skewed. A common drawback of being rich & famous I remember someone on tFS who has worked with her said, she is traumatized by her success to the point she has lost touch with reality. I could see that. And her delusional and obsessive fans definitely contribute to her madness

Yes, there are members here who have multiple personas---an account for each I am not clear why people do that. The most common reasons I have seen are, to vote multiple times on polls and to make it seem like “someone” agrees with them on points they make

Like I said before, it is all about escaping reality and “becoming” for a brief moment who you wish you were. It is so easy online since there is a degree of anonymity and lack of accountability.
