^I get what your saying, and I get your perspective,

Given your age and experience, it's unlikely that you fully grasp the magnitude and life consequences of it.

and believe me, I've done my research on college, what employers want etc. And I quite enjoy learning actually...its funny, in my school, I had so few teachers that acutally cared about learning...but then came this one, a student teacher, and he was the coolest guy ever, and he brought so much knowledge into everything he said and did! I got so much from him...he said something like this "Your brain is like a sponge. You need to be able to suck up all the information you can, and you can spit out what you don't like" And I was jsut so amazed by that, it really stuck with me. Teenagers I'm around are ignorant, refuse to see other perspectives, and they could adhere to this advice.

Anywho as far as gettign a job, I've seen that alot of it, almost all of it, is networking, who you know, impressions, etc. Thats why i'm trying to leave the best first impressions I can

At the center of it, it's about the right skills and adding value. If you are incapable of this, then networking isn't enough. Note that I spent much words addressing the matter of self-reliance and educating yourself to patch up the gaps. This is something I've seen so few do as most won't spare the time or never get around to it. The mission of universities is to plug these gaps, but they usually fail. So this is, at core, a philosophical question about yourself and this society you live in Lindsay. Without grasping this, you will join the ranks of the majority of people who sleepwalk through life and face, for instance, the 'mid-life crisis' , failed marriages, depression/suicidal thoughts, a wasted life, or other personal traumas later on.

It's important to know where you're going to die so you never go there...

If Baron was here, he would have much to say about this and put it more vividly than I can.... (he is an english professor..)

Well, I imagine you retained the parts of that education you actually need in your every day life . My use for the Greek language came as a result of having a love of their history and culture early on, but I have no applicable use for speaking it on a regular basis . The only Greek people I've met here speak English.

Speaking of revamping, I saw some videos of their castings for the show (which I didn't previously know were available to the general public) and saw some pretty big name models getting turned down. I wonder if that's hard on the ego .

I do still love squirrels, although believe it or not, I've never been stung by a bee (even when harvesting pollen and honey) or bitten by a dog but have actually been bitten attacked by squirrels . They are definitely friendlier in some places than others and different species have different temperaments. I do still love them though . It seems that I likewise think of you when I see pink bunnies .

*edit* It seems the visual example of this (Kemp Muhls pink bunny video) has eluded me and in its place I found out that she's a singer now .

...

HEHEHEH...you are right. I haven't totally lost what I have learned from my "higher" education. Occasionally there are situations where random stuff I've learned comes in handy. Like when watching Jeopardy

I love Greek history and culture too!

Who gets to walk in the VSFS is a crapshot. Although they need about 30 models, they only have about half (or less) of those slots open for girls who come to casting. I think there has been situations where they casted a model one year, not the next year, but then they casted her again the year after. And often you don't think someone will be there and she pops up! Perhaps they do it for the element of surprise and suspense

You were attacked by squirrels? What happened!? BTW, have you seen this:

I've only had a squirrel steal food from me. Never been attacked...and hopefully never will.

I think Kemp is dating John Jr. :notsure: Anyways, for old time sake....

of course you have to have the skills there...but there are a gazzillion people out there with the same skill, you know? So what sets you apart from the rest? And its the networking, and the impressions as a person you give off! I really just want to go through life leaving good impressions, gaining knowledge, traveling, metting new people, SEEING new things! That sounds like the life that I want And also to be a mother someday (oh how I love children ) ...and hopefully teach my kids the same thing. uhhh I can't imagine people going through life without even any interest to gain knowledge, to fill their brains etc. Like you said, alot of people "sleepwalk" their way through life, and I don't understnad that appeal!

Yeah definetly its different for everyone...some its better than high school, others worse! I know the work load will be 10 times bigger..but like you said the perks of meeting new people, experiancing new things, makes the work all worth it! And yeah I know too many who don't take college seriously, party then flunk right out I find its usually those whose parents are paying for their whole education!

but so far I think I will do good in college as far as debt comes along..I've always had to work for my money, etc, and I plan on working big time everytime I'm not in class. Also relying on scholarhsips, etc.

And thanks for the encouraging words. I wish fashion wasn't so freaking hard to break into

Not sure is the workload that much more but for me it was slightly more interesting b/c you have more options in courses you would like to take.

So many of my pals had to work 2 jobs to pay for school I worked as well. I was lucky to get a job close to my apartment so I would walk there

If it was easy it wouldn't be worth it I think it was Roosevelt who said, "Believe you can and you're halfway there." Just do your thing & your best and forget the rest! (Y)

Honestly high school was a breeze for me..I honestly don't think high school is challenging enough! I seriously hardly ever did homework, studied for tests, and graduated with straight A's...alot of things were credit no credit But I also know that its not the same for everyone...I would always say "why don't you just do your work, you'll get an A" and people would try and try...it just didn't come naturally for them so I know my opinion on the hardness of high school isn't the one that is neccesarily true

on college work, my mother has been going to school and working for over 5 years now (something I commend her for, she actually just finished school too  ), and had about 3 hours of homework a week...which is already 3 hours more than high school for me So I know already its going to be harder

And luckily my parents are letting me stay in the house rent free as long as I'm working and going to school....though getting an apartment sounds appealing to me When you were in college, did you stay in an apartment the whole time?

And yes, If I believe in my self, it will take me a long way! Just got to work hard... network, study ,etc

Ok, I guess Carrie Underwood isn't too bad for a country artist. I could kinda stand her music

Yes, glowsticks back in the days. Now, not so much. Partying in Ibiza is definitely on my bucket list (Y)

There are iRobots that clean gutters? :notsure: I did not know that! Even if there's an iRobot to clean shelves I wouldn't be able to afford it I couldn't even afford a regular iRobot! I don't think I will be moving out of Broke-Ass Mountain anytime soon

That's exactly why I always have a hair tie with me esp when I go drinking. Puke and the disgusting stuff on toilets in you hair is not sexy!!! :x

I had a nice long weekend. Originally i was suppose to work but plans changed. So I was able to "catch up" on some sleep and TV

How was your long weekend?

Oh lord to see those glow sticks flying in the air And if you do go to Lbiza plz take me!

Ha yep, worm shaped unit with small rudders in the front that kick out any junk that might be impeding with water flow, brave new world we live in eh? Heck, now lets not be so gloomy there, maybe a good Christmas present idea?

Ahahah ewww! Ya, toilet juice isn't the most pleasant of liquids to have mingling in your hair as your introducing your own brand into the commode

Sleep and TV, nice! Sounds like the weekend I'm having here for the most part. Was too piss poor hot yesterday so we stayed indoors for the majority of that day alone.

As for my past 3-day weekend, it was quite the good one here Lady and I headed out to Santa Barbara (coastal city) for some us time so that was wonderful. Plus I ate like a pig while I was there so the food always makes it the worthwhile too Then on Monday we once again ended up going to the beach with the fam that was vising that day for sun, sand and food!

LOL ! Great vid and thanks for the, pic, I couldn't find that ad for the life of me. It looks like she is dating him and is his Yoko besides . She at least sings better than Yoko though .

Yeah, it is basically a crap shoot, but in the end, I guess they have to be doing something right looking at their staying power. They've gone through so many different phases (curvy models, slim models, in between, reality model search skits) and the buzz is still big for it every year. I guess that's why they can afford to jerk the model's chains .

I was attacked by virtue of unintentionally cornering them. I thought that it was a rat and it turned out to be squirrels on all of said occasions. Having no other way out, they fought their way out . I didn't get any real injuries or have to harm them, but somewhat embarrassing for an animal and squirrel lover seeing as how the average person hasn't been attacked .

Anyway, to repay the squirrel vid...

Your mom had only 3 hours of homework a week!? Whoa, she must be a super genius or something. When I was in school I had at least 8 hrs

I stayed in a dorm w/ roommates the first semester of college b/c it was required for students who weren’t local. I lived by myself part of freshman year in a campus apartment. Then first semester of sophomore year I lived w/ 5 other girls but I had my own room. From the second semester of sophomore year on, I lived by myself again in a campus apartment. My apartment was very small but I loved it I had pals who lived in the same building and close by. Also b/c the building’s “L” shaped the other side shaded my room. Very convenient during the hot summers

A downside was one of my next door neighbors was a mad drama queen She would have arguments with her “friends” and boyfriend all the time. When she gets into one of her hissy fits she would slam & throw stuff The cordless phone was her weapon of choice. I think that was part of the reason her roommate usually stayed at her boyfriend’s place so she can avoid her BS Another annoying thing was most of my classes were far from my place so it was quite a hike for me. It was ok when the weather is nice but when it is windy and freezing outside a 15 minute walk is pure torture!

Great idea! I will add the iRobot to my wish list to Santa BTW, everytime I see an iRobot I cannot help but to this of this:

Do you watch the too? If not, YOU HAVE TO!!! I can’t wait until August when it comes back. I feel like I am going through a drug withdrawal waiting for the show to come back

When it gets super hot I think of the episode of Married With Children where the Bundy’s camped out in the frozen isle of the Supermarket Such a great idea! It is better for the environment b/c you are consuming less resources and you save on your electric bill!

Here is more TV for you. Ever since watching Psych, everytime I hear Santa Barbara I think of the show. I swear I do not watch THAT much tv!

Do you have any pictures from Santa Barbara you can show me (like the landscape and scenery)? I haven't been there yet

I found the ad in her thread I think the company is based somewhere in Europe.

Oh, so she is his “Yoko”? Even a walrus sings better than Yoko. It is never a good combo when you have a bat-shit crazy women who is also tone deaf

So sorry to hear about the squirrels attacking you. I think it more common than before because of the environmental changes

I used to work at a Greeting Card/Novelty shop that sold this:

http://mcphee.com/sh...underpants.html

Wasn’t a huge seller but nonetheless cute & funny

The ratings for the show haven’t been very high in the US the past few years. Last year they had a slight increase but overall it is not doing as well as say a decade ago. I think most people don’t care much for models especially in the US b/c we are so celebrity-centric.

Thanks for the video Looking forward to RIPD although I know it’s going to be subpar

Yeah, she must have really had a spell on Lennon . It might be subpar or it may surprise you but probably not . I guess the show's decline in ratings explains how hard they've been advertising. I even saw some shows where the models guess starred and they played themselves and had part of the show in the actual episode . I actually found Behati quite charming in tht capacity, but athat just speaks more so to the advertising efforts. That's probably true about the environment thing. Anytime you eat things (in reference to some of the scraps they eat) that didn't exist thirty years ago, there's bound to be some issues anyway. That's not to mention pollution, greenhouse gases ect. I should probably add that I haven't known anyone to be injured by one though and they're first instinct is to run rather than fight generally. That video and card had me laughing so hard . I would have bought it . That one you had with the massaging is also one fo the funniest things I've ever seen .

Along the lines of the VS and pink themes, I was wondering who you think are the all time best VS Pink models. Assuming the brand hasn't actually been around that long, all time may be a bit of a reach, but there seems to be a lot of names to pick from anyway. I haven't looked at an actualy list of the whole roster, but off the top of my head, Jarah, Cintia, Lais, Miranda and Behati seem to exemplify the brand quite well. Strangely enough, I even find Marloes to do well even though I initially thought her caricature level sensuality would be a bad fit for it, but she tones it down for them.

Yeah she only took a few credits at a time, because she was also working full time...so it took her like 6 years to finish work that could have been done in two But still proud of her! She worked long and hard to get where she is!

So how did you like living with roomates? I'm hearing that for college you never want to room with your friends...cause your friendship will be strained

Good lord that would be an Ale Bundy move right there But heck, it solves the heat issue and there is no worries of running out of food if one becomes stranded in the middle of no where.

Not that much TV, we shall see how that verdict plays out...not convinced yet!

Nope. (N)

This brief, civil exchange was already addressed via PM. That's why it ended two days ago. And there is no reason to hide everything approaching a few sentences through PM, anyway.

I've been a member for three years and known Dave for almost as long. Spontaneous eruptions of conflict are normal and natural. They should not be distorted and censored indiscriminately. I'm glad that you didn't see that thread until now because I would not have otherwise received new information.

Thread cleaned and edited (Y)

Interpersonal conversations should discussed via PM or off the board. Thanks!

^ I am glad you and Dave addressed things via PM. The only reason why I intervene was b/c someone reported the argument. Simple as that. There was no master plan or social engineering goal what-so-ever. I am sorry to hear a long time member left and you are upset about it.
