Won't bother asking since it seems you've answered it a gazillion times about getting busy with work and stuff. Hope you get through it somewhat stress free

Curious, we talked about how you were interested in getting into the fashion industry right? Did you ever get around to that, looking into school, etc? Or are you not thinking about going back to school? I assume you already work in business, so I assume you have some sort of business degree? Pretty sure the fashion industry looks for those more often than solely fashion related degrees!

Things are still kinda busy but they are gradually slowing down and going back to normal. That whole bombing thing really added on to the stress and craziness

After 20 (give or take) years of school I AM DONE!!! (Y) No more school for me except maybe adult ed or enrichment classes I have a Masters in Advertising but that obviously has not gotten me very far in life

I think having an array of knowledge is important in every field. Fashion is not all about designing. You have to know how to reach & interact with your customers (psychology), and have some sort of understanding of numbers and how to sustain a business

Hey Pink, saw it was your b-day. Sucks you got to spend it on lockdown.. Stay safe!

Thanks Not the first time shit has happened on my birthday: 1) Waco Massacre 2) Oklahoma Bombing. Columbine was suppose to happen on my birthday but due to technical difficulties it got postponed to the next day. Oh, Hitler and I share the same birthday. #FML

Well I guess after 20 years I would want to be done with school too But commend you for getting a freaking Masters degree! Thats awesome

And exactly, fashion is a lot more than just clothes. Its a lot of buying, advertising, marketing, BUSINESS stuff really. From what I've seen from fashione related jobs posted, a lot of them are looking for business degrees rather than soley fashion related degrees.

And DAMN that is unlucky. Maybe you should just forget about your birthday? Or celebrate the day before to throw off the bad luck

The fact that the guy I share an office with subjects me to shitty music on a daily basis, the least he could do is help me with manual labor Compensation! (Y)

Indeed, time will tell. Although the outlook does not look too good

All my pals are ok. Still a bit upset and traumatized. Some of them were in the proximity to witness the bombs going off

Ha, sounds like an almost equal exchange in favors then. Too bad that music will keep on going and the move is already done with Or have you put a stop to your musically inept friend?

Shall I call the Merry Maids then? I got a killer Groupon deal

Good to hear the pals are okay but the traumatizing effects of the experience shall stay for a good time to come no doubt, bless those poor souls who were the victims of that horrible atrocity once again.

Oh and on a lighter note, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY HUN! Nice to see a fellow April baby as well

Thank you It was quite a feat not because grad school was hard. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy. As long as you are willing to learn and do the work it is all good. I got very ill while in school so I missed a lot of classes. Luckily some of my professors were understanding so I was able to get extensions on projects. I graduated on time and was happy b/c school is expensive!

Someone suggested I should celebrate my half birthday from now. Perhaps I will do that to change my luck around (Y)

How are things looking on the college application front? Is it driving you nuts that everyone is asking?

No, we still share a cubicle and he still plays his shitty music. He has been at another site this past week so I am getting a break from the cacophony

There is a maid that comes every month to clean. My issue is not that I am dirty but I have a lot of stuff. I am one of those who has challenges departing with things

Things are slowly calming down. The hospital I work for just got 12 more bombing survivors.

Oh, happy belated birthday Was it a good one this year? We should celebrate together someday

Most 'business' stuff can be learned on the job and on one's own, as it tends to be specific and narrow in scope

I have a BS in Finance and CPA Accounting at a top 5 school and what I actually learned there is only a small portion of the actual knowledge I use for work. I broke into financial research at the age of 19 by pitching self- trained aspects of my relevant interests, abilities and initiative at a career fair. I made a good enough impression that I was chosen out of a large crop of people. Most of what I know and can do was self taught through experience, very long hours, and domain-specific study.

Overall, I have a dim view of the intrinsic value of most soft business degrees (or many college degrees for that matter) outside of technical ones like accounting and actuarial science. They're mostly filtering devices to help HR screen out more candidates.

The actual 'education' behind these degrees is too general and scattered to be of true relevance to any particular job in question. They only indicate that the person has basic theoretical grounding in the field, and can hit the ground running for further job specific training.

And exactly, fashion is a lot more than just clothes. Its a lot of buying, advertising, marketing, BUSINESS stuff really. From what I've seen from fashione related jobs posted, a lot of them are looking for business degrees rather than soley fashion related degrees.

... They're mostly filtering devices to help HR screen out more candidates.

....They only indicate that the person has basic theoretical grounding in the field, and can hit the ground running for further job specific training.

So a better attitude is to see the degrees as a small component of one's profile while actual achievements, capabilities and value adding is what really matters. Many businesspeople, engineers, or people from other fields who seek management promotions, for instance, get an executive MBA just to prove that they aren't ignorant about theory. It's mostly a rubber stamp and opportunity to gain new networks...

...I think that all people need a proper post secondary general education just to live better, make better decisions, understand themselves and the society they find themselves in, develop real passions and self actualize...There's no ivy league program/piece of paper that can do all that.

So sorry about that hun. I guess if you can’t beat them then join him? Or does the beating part sound enticing now?

Oh dear, I already have mental images of the shelves, cabinets and drawers here and it doesn’t look too pretty Heck, as long as you can find what you need all is well.

Well good to hear things are hitting a lower great I just hope for a speed recovery for those in now

Nothing big this year due to a certain OTHER variable but heck, after that I really couldn’t of asked for more But your offer of a 2'ffer celebration sure sound inviting, I'll bring the tequila?

Not at all! There is nothing enticing about Country music and Fake wannabe techno Dubstep

You are right. It’s not looking good Usually I am able to locate what I am looking for. I guess there is some sorta organization through all the chaos & madness

Tequila? Deal! (Y)

A orginized mess eh? Well if you see any deflection in your shelves it’s time to organize Missy!

Awesome, and I shall make sure to lift your hair up so it doesn’t take a swim in the toilet as you puke! Just call it roadside barf service

Your welcome! And you got sicckkk? That stinks! How long were you sick for if you don't mind me asking? I know some teachers are either okay with it, or don't give a crap weather your sick or not

And that soundsl like a good idea

And I don't mind being asked So far, I think I'm just gonna take some general classes at Community, then after a year transfer to a university. Really aiming for a degree in marketing and graphic design

The way I feel is there are so many members' threads it can be overwhelming to visit them all especially when things are kinda hectic in your life I often feel bad if I can't get to everyone's thread so to keep it simple by rarely posting in those threads. I can barely keep up with my own thread let alone other's

The new office is about 2.5 miles away from the old one but to get there you have to drive through one lane traffic with lots of stop lights. So it is technically less than 10 minutes away but it takes 30+ minutes to get there depending on traffic.

We also have another location that is newly built. It is not too far away from the old location. Lots of events celebrating the grand opening & etc. so the super craziness at work continues

Candice is definitely on the right path. I hope she continues to grow and eventually make a name for herself outside of VS. She has what it takes and she deserves it

How have you been?

I have been too busy recently - we´re centered around one project that is very important and very delicate - and complicated as well. I´m mostly too psychichally exhausted to write more than just some blatant stupid posts, but I finally gained some strength and time and am trying to make up for my recent incompetency

How are you??

As long as you don’t listen to country music when I am around it is all good (Y) Electronic music (mainly trance) is my favorite genre of music but most dubstep is wannabe crap :yuckky:

I am starting to unable to see the shelf again b/c of all the crap on it

Roadside Barf Service....lol...you should totally start a business and patent the idea!

Aww no problem hun Yeah whenever I watch cake Boss or any cake decorating show I always cringe a bit when they have to dig into the cake especially seeing the the amount of blood, sweat and tears that goes into making such extravagant cakes.

Speaking of TV... got a question for you... The Face or America's Next Top Model.... which do you prefer? I've yet to watch an episode of The Face but I get the impression it must be similar to ANTM. I used to be obsessed with ANTM, but not anymore... actually most reality shows annoy the heck out of me simply because of the silly drama they try to conjure up in every episode.

I haven’t seen Cake Boss yet. There are all these [reality] shows that I sometimes have a hard time watching and keeping track of them all. Also, I try to avoid food shows b/c they make me feel hungry and overeat However Master Chef always sucks me in

Currently I would say The Face. I enjoyed ANTM during its early days but now it is pure crap---a total hot mess! I have a feeling The Face, if it continues, will become another TV joke like ANTM For now I am enjoying it while it is decent. I have every episode of the first season of The Face for streaming & downloading here : http://www.bellazon....45371-the-face/

Ratings seem to indicate people are experiencing reality show fatigue because we are so inundated with them: http://www.uproxx.co...-finally-dying/

Here is an interesting article about how reality shows create drama: http://www.cracked.c...nt-you-to-know/

Sorry for all the links

It is one of those on-going things. It fluctuates. Overall I am ok and hanging in there Thanks for asking

Taking classes at a community college sounds like a good plan. So many people rush into the whole college thing when they are not ready. They just do it b/c that’s what they think they are “suppose” to do. Hence why the dropout rate is so high. BTW, it is an unpopular view but college is not for everybody and it is ok if you discover that is the case for you

You seem pretty creative and skillful so I could totally see you in the graphics field

How is the project going? I hope you find a moment each day, even if it is brief, to relax and do something you enjoy As I said before your “real” life comes first. Stuff like BZ is secondary. Taking care of yourself, your obligations and those around you are main priorities (Y)

I am doing ok. Like you very busy. On top of the move and Spring being a hectic time, the bombings has added an extra layer to all the craziness and the amount of work I have I am hanging in there. It should be better soon...hopefully

Yeah I feel like some people I know are just going to college "just cause" and don't even know what they're going for...like WTF? why would you spend a ton of money, when you can go to community until you figure it out? Credits transfer And yeah I know college isn't for everyone, but I actually kinda can't wait for college and school After I get my community done, and sort some thigns out, I can't wait to move onto a bigger college I like the idea...meeting new people, experiancing awesome things

Maybe occasionally party, who knows

But I'm a good student, so I can do that every once in a while

And thank you I really like playing with images...my dream is to someday do graphic design for a fashion mag!
