Dexter I watched all the way up to the last couple of seasons...honestly the show has gotten worse for me as its gone on, I mean I still like it, but I definetly lost interest as it went it...but its only my opinion, and the first season was GREATTT so its definetly at least worth giving a try.

ANTM is just straight up ridiculous now...its gotten so bad I literally tune into 5 minutes and I can't stand it. The last season I watched fully was the one with the plus size girl Kasia (I don't think she won though) and a gal that kinda looked like a miranda kerr/squirrell morph? it was like 2011 or something.....but after that with this british invasion, co ed, etc. I just can't do it anymore But the old ones are good, anytime theres a marathon on TV I stay hooked on it all day!

 

I like Project Runway too, but alot of those other shows I have never really gotten into or seen, except for the X factor But I've been meaning to try out Mad Men

Mad Men is kinda like that too. Seasons 1-4 were great, 5 & 6...not so much It is an overall great show but the last 2 seasons were below standard. The decrease in viewership is evident of the subpar quality. The 7th season will be the finale. Matt Weiner (the creator) plans to do what Breaking Bad did with splitting the season into 2 parts hoping to regain viewership. Weiner & his team need to get their act together and start strategizing ways & plot lines to make the show great again! If not, the 2 part finale season thing will bite them in the ass

Kasia came 5th that season and Brittani (who I have met along with 1st runner-up Molly) won I also remember Alexandria but I don’t remember anyone else so I have no clue who the “Miranda Kerr/squirrel morph” is By the looks of it The Face is becoming another ANTM I am crossing my fingers it won’t turn into total trash.

I only watch The X factor b/c of Simon Cowell. I find blunt and surly British male celebrities entertaining---Gordon Ramsay and Piers Morgan!

 I think the infringement on natural habitats and environmental changes is affecting a lot of animals negatively. We are taking away their homes, and messing up with the natural balance of the ecological system & nvironment Speaking of which, for the past few Falls there has been tons of turkeys roaming around town. They are sometimes aggressive to the point people are afraid of being attacked by them

 

I dislike ferrets b/c their odor repulses me  :x  I had a pal from high school who had 2 ferrets. They would climb & jump all over me messing with my hair b/c they thought I was a toy or something

 

 LOL...you got me there I do like "Over and Over" , although I don’t view Nelly as a hardcore rap artist.

 

I like most of the earlier stuff by ATB, Paul Oakenfold, Moby, Paul Van Dyk, Robert Miles, just to name a few Armin Van Burren, Cosmic Gate, Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond are pretty good too. I generally like German DJs

I think I am one of the rare ones who enjoyed “The Beach” because I actually understood it. Leo’s performance was ok. I never really liked Rammstein   , but I've listened to NIN and I remember liking it. I've listened Marilyn Manson too and I liked it too. The other bands I didn't know them, I search for those. I've listened to Fear Factory, would you include them in the Industrial genre?

Rammstein too much of buffoons for you?   For awhile in the late 90’s and early 2000’s NIN was kinda “meh” b/c Trent Reznor was in love & happy. His stuff is best when he is angry and depressed As for Marilyn Manson I think he is overrated. Don’t get me wrong some of his music is decent but he is far from the music god some people make him out to be I do consider Fear Factory as part of the Industrial genre. I think I mentioned this in the Grunge thread awhile back, but sometimes it is tough to pinpoint musicians’ exact genre b/c many of them do a mixture of stuff :notsure:

I am not a fan of Mindy Kaling so I don’t watch her show I have heard about "Scouted" but never got a chance to watch it. Based on what you said I guess it was not very good, ehh?

There was a charity event at my job a few months ago and Benefit donated a bunch of lipsticks as giveaways. There were quite a few leftovers so I grabbed a couple I haven’t tried them out yet but the colors do look fabulous. The two Benefit products I use are the blue mascara: (http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/product/view/parentsku/BADGALIB120) and the High Beam Illuminator (http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/product/view/high-beam). I prefer the illuminator VS used to make as part of the "Sexy Little Things" collection but they discontinued it---like most things I like <_< Is there a specific Benefit product you recommend?

I visit sephora.com at least 1-2 a month, and stop by their stores 1-2 every month or two. I usually shop their sale section b/c they often have goodies especially at their stores The main non-sale items I purchase from Sephora are powder foundation, illuminator, mascara and BB cream. I also shop at ULTA sometimes. Do you shop at either ULTA or Sephora often? What are some of your favorite makeup and brands?

I know Nelly's not hardcore, but I couldn't resist . I must admit that I like the song too even though I just laughed out loud initially. Yeah, ferrets definitely need to stay in their own natural habitat. Speaking of scary turkeys, one day I saw a crazy old man with an emu 0_0 I also had my first pet rabbit for a moment. A guy gave it to me because he found it and said he didn't want it eating his bark in the winter, but since one of my cats tried to kill it , I figured I had to get rid of it. Its better off with the people I gave it too since they know way more than me about raising them anyway.

Unfortunately cats and small dogs rarely get along with bunnies. Such a shame b/c I would like a small dog and a bunny. Although I have heard if you got the bunny first or got both pets at the same time they might manage to get along. We will see

Yeah I'm starting to lean that way too, its just better being able to chose what episodes you want to watch and when instead of settling for whatever they decide to show on TV. Speaking of which I found a site where I could watch Breaking Bad from the beginning... now i'm on season 3 episode 6.  It was going along really well, but i'm at a point where there's not a lot of action and the plot is not really going anywhere.... hopefully things pick up again in the next couple episodes. Overall it really is an entertaining show though, and the acting for the most part very good. But the principal (Carmen I think her name is) is Goddamn aweful.. geez. When I first started watching the show Jesse Pinkman was really irritating me, but after a couple episodes I started liking him.... Aaron Paul did a good job with the role and of course Bryan Cranston  Wait a second did you watch the entire series so far? I don't want to write any spoilers, I already came across a spoiler on another site, and that ticked me off a bit.

Awesome news!! I really liked that show. Remember when Extreme Makeover was the like The Swan in that they actually made over people  and not just home renovations? Was The Swan an extension of that show or something? I actually prefer those drastic makeover shows as opposed to "What not to Wear" and "A Makeover Story" where they just give them a new wardrobe, new hairdo and some makeup and call it a day.

Haha i'm very picky on comedies... a lot of them annoy the crap out of me lol. Though I laughed a lot watching Zoolander, Dumb and Dumber. Everybody and their momma seemed to like The Hangover but I didn't think it was all that... there's probably something wrong with me lol. I also don't like Met The Fockers

 

OMG Child's Play will always have a special place in my heart... when I was younger I was so freaked out by it... but watching it now its actually more funny then it is scary. Puppet Master was alright, all I remember right now is that it had a whole bunch of sequels.. I can't remember which one I liked... must have been the first or second. Though I think my fav killer doll movie is "Dolly Dearest." Now that was actually scary! I know you said you aren't a fan of this genre, but by chance have you seen it? Dead Silence was good too. When I was younger my fav Goosebumps episodes was the ones with Dummies... do you remember those? Are you familiar with the show Goosebumps?

 

Oh and random movie that doesn't fall under Comedy or horror, that I'm a fan of, is Selena. I can't stand JLO but I thought she did a really great job in the role.... actually when I first saw that movie I didn't know who Selena or J Lopez was.... but after seeing clips of Selena I think she captured her well. And it wasn't just the cating of course, the story of her life was just very captivating and interesting. Have you seen this one?

If I remember correctly, season 3 of BB was quite slow in the middle. It should pick up towards the last 2-3 episodes. Have you seen the episode “Fly” yet? I was wondering what you thought of it Yeah, the actress who plays Carmen is pretty bad. I think that’s why she had so little screen time I feel bad for Jesse b/c he is usually the “bitch” in most situations Either he gets beat up (mentally & physically) or  he gets the short-end of the stick Yes, I have watched the entire series. I think The Swan was “inspired” by Extreme Makeover. I agree, shows with drastic makeovers are more entertaining than those that just provide new wardrobe, makeup and hairdos. I read somewhere b/c of The Swan more people are requesting for veneers

Although I enjoyed the Hangover I don’t think there is anything wrong with you not liking it. Different people like different things and movies like that are an acquired taste. Like most movies, the first Hangover I thought was pretty entertaining but the sequels were "meh". Same with Meet The Parents. I think they try too hard to outdo the first ones

I don’t think I have heard of the movie Dolly Dearest. I don’t usually like horror flicks but one I did enjoy was The People Under The Stairs. Have you seen it? I have heard of the show Goosebumps but I don’t think I have ever seen it. There is another show that’s similar I really enjoyed, Are You Afraid of the Dark? It’s one of my favorite shows as a child. Have you seen it?

I think it is more for the free food (gluttony!) than for religious observance. I’ve noticed most churches are full of gossip. Kinda ironic since most gossip has elements of wrath, envy and/or pride

Do you and the missus help the in-laws with food preparation and cooking holiday dinners? Maybe you should get a pair of those elastic pants pregnant women wear so you could eat as much as you like without worrying about ripping your pants   I am pretty sure they sell them at Target and Old Navy. BTW, what are some of your favorite holiday dishes?

A domestic dog breed endangered? That doesn't sound good , but at least I guess since they're domestic rather than in the wild, hopefully it will be easier to give them a jump start ? Maybe dog matchmaker or something . At least I assume that's how they got bred to start with although dog's willingness to...love...dogs of any other breed can probably make it hard to produce some breeds unless it is controlled by an outside force. As creepy as it may be, I guess that's how they got 'bred' to start with and it at least can keep the breed going.

Ah yes we do help out that day among gatherings in general. I have the type of in-laws that LOVE to host all events and get togethers but considering they have the house size for it I guess it would only be appropriate on that variable alone Ahahaha I just might possibly pull thru with that idea so I can stuff an extra plate of food down my throat Hmm fav dishes, lord hun that's like asking me "would you rather sleep with Barbara or Adriana?" sometimes liking it all is the only choice But on a serious note I do love the green bean casserole as cliche as that might sound And I also just LOVE the stuffing that they put in the turkey Ugh but now I remember of the homemade mashed potatoes plus gravy and I start to think of more here! Oh I also can't forget about pecan pie when it's there

Actually I don't know if that's the reason why I don't like them  . The first time I listened to Rammstein was years ago, and I didn't like them that time, and I almost haven't listened to them since then. So maybe that appreciation could change (or not  ). 

As for Manson, I've listened very little of his music, same as with most of the Industrial genre actually.

 

Yes, I remember that in the Grunge thread. Sometimes is really difficult to pick a genre for some artists indeed. But I think those denominations shouldn't be more than a little guide and it shouldn't be so strict. Like some Metal "genres" I've seen: Technical Progressive Melodic Death Metal and things like that 

 

I'll give a listen to the bands you posted, after going through Scorpions and Porcupine Tree discographies, which I have pending

There are way too many sub-genres. I think genre crossovers are great but at times it seems as if people create “new” [sub-]genres just for the sake of seeming unique I like Scorpions and Porcupine Tree too. Can’t say I am an avid fan but I do enjoy their songs everytime I hear them

I generally like books about branding/marketing, psychology, and ones with a bunch of short, inspirational, real life stories like “Note To Self”. I occasionally enjoy memoirs. It is very rare I enjoy fiction but there are a few I like such as, The Great Gatsby (I read this way before the recent movie came out), A Ballad of a Sad Cafe, Ethan Frome, The Sculpture’s Funeral, and stuff by the Greek playwright Aristophanes....just to name a few

BTW, the VSFS from 2001 is my favorite (your set is from that year) However I can’t say I like Heidi

My grandmother once dropped my ex-aunt’s (she and my uncle are divorced) pomeranian by accident and ended up breaking one of the dog’s legs. The poor dog had to be in a cast as big as her

As long as a person isn’t totally fugly they will do ok (Y) Most people are not that ugly so it is all good. Even if a person is extremely ugly there are ways around it For women as long as they have a nice body they should be all-set (Buttaface!) Even if they don’t they could always exercise to achieve a better body. Guys could do the same too. Also with guys, if they are rich they could compensate for their ugliness---very common!

My mom and my sister usually goes to church on Easter but I don’t (yes I know, I am totally going to hell). We don’t really do much at home for Easter. I think b/c of the huge clean up afterwards. However, having a proper Easter dinner is something I would like have as a tradition when I have my own family someday

Speaking of pecan pie, have you tried the pecan pies at Hooters (yes you read correctly, Hooters)? Not sure is it a regional thing, but the one I used to go to had surprising good pecan pie

There are way too many sub-genres. I think genre crossovers are great but at times it seems as if people create “new” [sub-]genres just for the sake of seeming unique I like Scorpions and Porcupine Tree too. Can’t say I am an avid fan but I do enjoy their songs everytime I hear them

I generally like books about branding/marketing, psychology, and ones with a bunch of short, inspirational, real life stories like “Note To Self”. I occasionally enjoy memoirs. It is very rare I enjoy fiction but there are a few I like such as, The Great Gatsby (I read this way before the recent movie came out), A Ballad of a Sad Cafe, Ethan Frome, The Sculpture’s Funeral, and stuff by the Greek playwright Aristophanes....just to name a few

BTW, the VSFS from 2001 is my favorite (your set is from that year) However I can’t say I like Heidi

Like most movies based on books, the book was much better! As much as I adore Leo I did not think he was a "great" Gatsby Don't get me wrong his acting was fine. I envisioned Gatsby to be slightly different than what Leo portrayed---look and personality wise. I also felt the over emphasis on the romanticism and the "Hollywood Treatment" overshadowed the message of the story.

Some of Aristophanes plays I have read are The Clouds, The Wasp, The Birds, The Frogs and Lysistrata I have also read some of Sophocles' plays and The Odyssey. Not by choice though I was required to read these book in order to get my Classical Civilizations, Art & Mythology minor at university Although I must say I prefer The Odyssey over The Iliad (I despise that book!) Everytime I get to the part where Argos dies I get a teary-eye

I haven't read The Iliad though. Why you didn't liked it? For some reason I've always had the idea of it being more interesting than The Odyssey.

I had to google Iron Butterfly because I don’t think I have heard of them The song In a Gadda Da Vida popped up. It is a song I like but never knew who’s it by. With that said, thank you! There are so many songs I like but I have no clue about the artist

Most people think TGG is solely a love story but what it is really about is the decline of the “American Dream" during a time in which the US was flourishing and prospering. One of the focal point of the book is, like most great things (in this case, wealth) it comes great responsibilities. If not careful, people’s moral & social values and good judgment start to diminish. Things like greed, superficialness, prejudice, and recklessness start to consume people. The book also talks about classism. Since we were talking about the Classics, another book I like and recommend is Plato’s Republic. Plato’s thoughts on class ties in well with some of the main themes of TGG

I didn’t like the Iliad b/c I thought it was boring and long-winded Sure, the book had a lot of action and historical value, but it was too much for me. I prefer the Odyssey b/c it was more fantastical Oh this makes me think of another book I semi-enjoyed, What Is History? By Carr (sorry don’t remember the author’s first name). Although Carr was repetitive and tedious (kinda reminds me of some of the fans on BZ ), nonetheless his points were valid and good If you do decide to read the book just read the first 20 or so pages b/c after that he just regurgitates what he has already said except phrase it differently

 

Hmm interesting, I'll take that into consideration! I've also been getting into the Mindy Project as of late, never really watched it before, but starting to tune in and its hilarious

 

Ahhh yes I remember now The girl I'm thinking of had REALLY big curley brown hair...she reminded me of Miranda Kerr, and she had a super baby southern accent. She was cute And The Face I haven't tuned into yet, mostly because I also don't have access to Cable all the time But I've been meaning to check it out..remember the E! fail Scouted?

There was a charity event at my job a few months ago and Benefit donated a bunch of lipsticks as giveaways. There were quite a few leftovers so I grabbed a couple I haven’t tried them out yet but the colors do look fabulous. I prefer the illuminator VS used to make as part of the "Sexy Little Things" collection but they discontinued it---like most things I like <_< Is there a specific Benefit product you recommend?

I visit sephora.com at least 1-2 a month, and stop by their stores 1-2 every month or two. I usually shop their sale section b/c they often have goodies especially at their stores The main non-sale items I purchase from Sephora are powder foundation, illuminator, mascara and BB cream. I also shop at ULTA sometimes. Do you shop at either ULTA or Sephora often? What are some of your favorite makeup and brands?

In terms of VS products I have tons of their lipglosses "Beauty Rush" or whatever their called And they are pretty nice, also their lip plumper works pretty well so I like that! I have never ventured into trying their bronzer lotions or anything like that, but next sale I'm gonna head to those beauty bins to pick up some

Ahh Ulta is great too, I would say I visit them both 50/50 I would say NARS is a good one, I have some stuff from them. And Urban Decay is also a great one, their eyeshadows ar ethe bomb!
