The Alien vs Predator movies are crap.

Prometheus was a decent prequel.

I hope Alien: Covenant will be pretty good.

Some of the Alien graphic novels from the late 1980s/1990s are really good.  The alien franchise does not lack source material.  

A:R was really graphic/gross.  The most visually disturbing one by far.  I like Aliens the best TBH because it's fast paced/ high tech and tremendously influential in pop culture (film, comics and gaming).

That's a fair assessment of Aliens. I really like Aliens a lot, but I like Alien better.
