Is pornography beneficial to women?

I wouldn't say porn is not completely a bad thing but I will say it is very influencial .. If you look at the trends and likes in sexual subjects .. you may find they move with porn.. in my experiences, things that once were considered tabboo became popular when porn started to do it more... which should also give you an idea how many people watch it.. lol

Anyway, the influence sometimes (not always) has on people can make them see sex as an act.. which can be hurt those who look at sex as a reaction to love and not just an act of relief or a performance to please. Some people may say that watching this may not have any influence on how they choose things or how they think.. but I would bet these are the same people who think the media has no impact on their lives as well.. and they would be lying to themselves. Porn, in the end,is as someone wants to make it in their lives.. as anything else.. some may find it to be good couple therapy while others may find it can cause of desires that end to seperate them.. as a conclusion, porn can be as bad as the person watching it makes .. or as good as the person watching can make depending on how it infleunces them.

I do however feel it is bad for women.. a lot of the times .. especially for the women in the movies.. they are viewed as objects to play with not real people who love and have feelings. I just thought to bring that point.

Actually a lot of the acts became popular from more modern porn.. porn used to be movies with sex in them.. with horrible plots but there was more than just watching several people have sex and do all these different moves in ways you can see them. And the acts were simple most of the time.

Well there's two contradicting statements right there. First of all you're disagreeing that pornography could yield some measure of benefit to women. Then you give me an example of performance as a possible benefit.

If you ask the question: could pornography be beneficial to women? The answer has to either be yes or not sure. I don't see how you could possibly vote no. It's rather short-sighted. First of all, there is a definate financial benefit in porn. Secondly, it can give you greater success like Jenna Jameson. Or people like Sasha Grey who have just landed a movie role. Secondly, the poll question asks "could" not "is". The inclusion of "could" asks if there is some degree of benefit to be had from pornography; some instance where it is beneficial. There are a whole host of benefits. If the question asks could, and there are benefits, the answer is yes. That does not mean you're saying there are always benefits, or that there are no downsides either.

i think this question is sexist, as women were "things" and weren't humans. i already talked about it in the feminist thread but i will repeat : "women can have pleasure with pornography!"

i'm a silent movies lover... i LOVE old movies. my favourite actor is Lon Chaney and he is dead in 1930... there is long time ago... so i know old movie and cinema and everything was different... not only porno and many things weren't allowed/legalised too... and technology wasn't as good as now XD

The only thing I am drawing issue with in your post is that you are failing to recognise that the question is conditional.

If someone is on a train that has some sort of mechanical malfunction and it ends up derailing and killing the person, then it was obviously not in the slightest bit beneficial to the person or anyone on the train. If however, another person is on a train that is on schedule and arrives at their destination early or on time, then it has been beneficial. For people who don't have their own cars public transport is beneficial. It's beneficial for those who do as well. Could [is there a scenario or instance where] pornography be beneficial to women? Porn is not necesary devise.. of course public transport is.. is it a service that can be very needed and relied on .. so it is not the same. this scenerio is impressive but you are putting something of desire and entertainment with something that people may rely on and have little choice to use.

As for the answer to the question.. I like to see points of two views in most subjects .. however, i tend to favor one most times.. in this, I do not see it benefit a woman for what image it promotes for women .. but it may benefit couples whose sex lives were just too dull from lack of knowledge.. It can have benefits but it can cause hurt and a lot of false expectations. That is seldom from derailmant.. it tends to be the based in the purpose of watching in the first place.

Do you think that porn popularized facials? They sure existed in real life before porn came in... And I don't really think that more women are willing to try them just because they saw the act on screen and realized that a practice like that exists

I watch porn quite often, but I never made my girlfriend try anything she doesn't like. I never insisted on her doing this or that. I know that porn movies are kinda like fairy tales, you can't expect to be doing everything you see on screen. Unless you're one kinky couple

I see some kinda ugly girls doing porn and I see regular girls with regular bodies and all different size boobs doing porn. That might not be the effect of porn though. There are girls who do enjoy anal sex, and are happy to have a threesome. Maybe they're just naively painting all girls with the same brush, based on their past experience with their own girlfriends.
