letalis is one of the best witcher experts, this is his video essay on it.

Having watched it I agree with the whole thing.  The most insightful part is how he said that the Witcher books/games established Ciri already and in a way it's a lot of baggage to be saddled with going forward with a new trilogy.

IMHO Ciri's end in Lady of the Lake- effectively leaving- is akin to retirement from a life of trauma.  It actually makes the most sense for her to retire to a normal life like Geralt, not choose wild challenges like empress and witcher in the W3.

They retconned this in W3 to make her more of a tireless adventurer, which would make her more interesting and actually viable as a main character.  Going that route in a way Queen Meeve as written in the thronebreak game is kind of like how Ciri would be if she was a successful empress.

Letalis is right for saying that Ciri already have established character arcs.  In a way it hard to foresee how it could be continued. What would her goal as a witcher be other than to satisfy endless wanderlust?
