'Poetic' license notwithstanding, my point was that "Love At First Sight" might just handily be applied after the event - maybe?

We see people that we are (initially) physically attracted to all the time; but that only later - through circumstance - can we actually apply that particular statement...

For instance, you see a lady you like on the street and are instantly smitten, but nervous and 'once bitten' you do nothing about it... However, you then go into a bar and 'lo and behold' 5 minutes later she enters the bar and takes a seat at the table next to you with some friends. Now, maybe your friends and her friends get to talking, and soon you are face to face with this lady. You find you have similar likes/dislikes - whatever - and 30 years later you are eulogizing her in a speech during the wedding of your eldest son.

Perhaps you will then say, in meeting her, that it was "Love At First Sight".

Indeed it was, of a fashion... But how many other "loves" have we all missed through the lack of the right environment?

If she was in the lifeboat, the burning building, this Earth - solely alongside me - could I charm her? Were we destined to be together, to see our children go about their own romantic journeys..?

Or, maybe, I wouldn't have liked her anyway.
