Accents are great fun. The South African one is really good; I got quite into it after working with a South African chap and a few South African nurses for a bit, and after watching "Blood Diamond" (even though it does feature Di Caprio and his character is supposed to be Rhodesian instead ). You get confused with an Aussie?

My accent has been mistaken for all sorts when I've been to the US. Normally people realise that I have an English accent and keep telling me that I sound like Hugh Grant or asking me to say "tomato" repeatedly, which become slightly tiresome , but some people really get confused by it. My friends who have been to North America on exchanges inform me that it's a great "asset" for a young man.

Do you have a twee Irish one, Bernie? :brows:

Do you sound like any notable Irishmen? I quite liked the idea of you being a younger Dara O'Briain, but then you posted a picture of your clothes and you had a much less impressive girth - disappointment.

You do realize that you two need to post recordings of your

voice so I can hear what you sound like now, right?

(Except I know Bernard would never )

That's true. But no one thinks that they have an accent, so I don't consider how I talk to be particularly entertaining... The South African one can be good, unless they're hardcore Afrikaans. Then it's just annoying as fuck, imo I must say, I would love to rag on Di Caprio's accent in Blood Diamond, but it was pretty good. A lot better than what I would have expected. I've never met someone who could properly immitate a SA accent. Yep, Aussie is what I get most commonly... People are generally ignorant so they can't tell the difference. I don't think that it helps that my accent is a total mash up, as well.

Yeah, I'd assume that most people could figure out that you're British, its a pretty well known accent. People always get me to say mascara, garage and bag. How I say those words totally blows peoples' minds But, in my defence, the bag thing is more like a speech impediment than an accent Idk why but I can't say it right...

Btw, I came home today and my brother had drawn this on his wall:

2m5mes2.jpg

I used to draw on my walls all the time!

I'm so proud

Anyway, I then drew a cyclops & flower on him:

Hahaha, look at his pits

And I ate this cookie:

Wicked story, right?

Dara O'Briain is so, so funny. He was so good in "Live At The Apollo" - York Model Railway Station.

Do you sound quite serious then? Or is that just Colin Farrell?

Re. Voice posting, as a true gent, I must insist "ladies first". I'll look into it; any requests? If Bernie's not going to post his voice, he could at least post a recording of some of his pennywhistle playing.

It sounds like you have an interesting accent more than an annoying one, I wouldn't worry about it. It's so much better having an accent with character rather than something bland. Oh, how do you say those words differently? I'm guessing that it's to do with the "a"s. I wish that I had a South African accent - do you want to swap?

What do people think of the English accent (Queen's English; received pronunciation) by the way?

Most people recgonised my accent but I've had some interesting questions about it and have gotten myself in a bit of a pickle. I had major communication issues in a Mississippi McDonald's, by coincidence, once. A visit to the counter to get a bottle of water took ten minutes and involved three employees.

Your brother's drawing is very good. Are all your family arty? Did he volunteer his services as a canvas? Your sketches on him are pretty comedy. The cyclops is great!

:| . . . That cookie is HUGE! You're making me hungry and I've only had my post-football pig out.

Bernard would never ever post his voice.

Pigs would sooner fly. If I do it, you have to do it!

Well, its not so much my accent that's annoying, its more so my tone of voice. But I already went over that But yeah, you're right in assuming that I say my a's weird. I say "mas-caw-ruh"

What do you mean by asking what people think of the english accent? That's a pretty vague question & it varies from person to person, I assume. I personally like it. Unless its a really rough variation because then it can get irritating. Like when the "th" sounds turns into a "f" One of my best friends thinks that the British accent is the hottest thing on the face of the planet, by the way

Hahahaha, I can just imagine that McDonalds encounter. Some people are really stupid. I'm usually really good with the accents though

I guess my family is artsy. I'm definitely an... eccentric person and it's safe to say that both of my parents are hippies. I have quite a few younger sisters though, and I bet that out of all of them at least one will end up being a white collar conservative prude who is into... Math. Or something :yuckky:

Yeah, puberty tends to do that.

I'll do it if I have a script. Because I don't know what the hell I would say

Btw Matt, whenever I read your siggy, I get Little Wing stuck in my head

Merrily; I'll post a clip of my voice, but what does one say? Apart from "mascara", "bag" and the usual.

Clearly your friend has good taste. My question was rather vague; I thought that I would just test the water. I'm from South-East England so am closer to the Queen's English than most. Americans say that I sound like Hugh Grant, but I really don't. I am rather foppish and bumbling like him though.

They weren't stupid, they just couldn't understand me; apparently I emphasised the "t" in water too much.

It's good being an individual rather than just another person in the crowd; good on you. You're pretty headstrong for your age. It sounds like you have a fun family, that's pretty cool.

Oh, I now have tomorrow off, by the way.
