Sort of stuck in a video game void I see? A good time to pick up some other hobby until something good comes along

I myself have been looking at a game called "Cities in Motion 2". I've always been a nerd when it came to simulation games and I heard good things about this installment so I might give it a try soon when I get the chance

Yeah, it's beginning to feel that way. Although I suppose it does tend to happen once the console you own starts winding down a bit. I'd more or less resolved not to bother buying a PS4 either, but then Rocksteady went and announced the new Batman Arkham game. Can't really justify that kind of expenditure at the moment though, unfortunately. Maybe down the road when the price drops.

Ah yes, I've heard of that one. Wasn't aware there was a sequel. Kind of a business/transport type deal, isn't it?

^I only just recently played through The Last of Us, after several months of it sitting on my shelf too. You won't regret it - its acclaim is well deserved

Which is the best way to do it, I'd say. The challenges in tennis have actually become something else for the fans to get excited about, and something that has to be used in a very strategic way by the players.

After weeks of dithering, I finally fired it up. I've not really done any more than scratch the surface (started the prologue, climbed through the busted wall behind the bar, then ran towards the soldier bloke - crap, I hadn't bargained on that! ) but I like what I've seen of the story so far.

Any other games currently piquing your interest?

Time is on your side in this case so give it a good year or so since there really is nothing to lose here other then money and maybe having the all important "first dibs" at a game

Yep, that be the type of game sir I've yet to fully look into some reviews and gameplay videos on YouTube to really make a decision here so I better get to that soon

And dude I love that freaking avi What a hoot!

Luckily, I was never really in the habit of paying the full whack for newly-released consoles anyway, so I feel okay about waiting a while longer. I'll probably just fill in the time by catching up on all the PS3 games I missed first time around. Starting of course with 'The Last of Us'.

Looks pretty good, I remember seeing some footage of the first game on YouTube a while back. Gave me a little flashback to playing things like 'Theme Park' and the first 'Sim City' in the olden days.

Much obliged sir! Saw Shepherd post it in Don's picture association thread recently and straight away thought 'that's my next avi'. Not even totally sold on Cara if I'm honest, just loved the pic.

Oh no, that whole thing was a joke thank goodness . It however isn't a joke that the Shark Tornado movie you once told me about now has a sequel  ...Speaking of sequels, some say this new Captain America movie is the best Marvel movie ever. I haven't seen it yet, but I liked the first one so I imagine that I'll like it too if nothing else. I'm not quite as knowledgeable of Marvel as Byron and you are though, so I only see them as movies without much comic context.

Oh man, what a relief. Don't scare me like that, Joe!

I heard that the network had asked fans to submit ideas for the sequel's title on Twitter, and it seems the best they could come up with was 'Sharknado 2: The Second One'. My money would have been on either 'Jump the Sharknado' or 'Sharknado 2: Shark Harder'.

I'm inclined to agree on 'Cap 2' though, it's actually replaced 'Avengers' as my favourite Marvel movie to date. Great action, loved the twists, loved the seventies-style political conspiracy thriller vibe and can't wait for the follow-up.

That does look rather good. I noticed it's a season two clip though, guess the first never made it to our shores.

You just have to know where to look. :Dinah:

His expression on the sticker looks like it probably did after not finding himself in any of the packets he opened. I suppose if Panini really wanted to be mean, they could find out where Campbell lives and take all his stickers out of the local stock, to make him buy more.

Ahh the first installment of Simcity I still have that bad boy in storage here

I loved 'First Avenger' so I should love 'Winter Soldier' based on what I'm hearing. Its interesting to hear that Captain America could become more acclaimed than the Avengers when their individual movies seemed like commercials for the Avengers movie in a way . Its also good to see the character kindof getting some time in the spotlight. He seems like a well-known character, but just hasn't (to my knowledge) had as much visibility in cartoons and movies as some other big name heroes. Come to think of it, I've always been amazed that he was as big of a name as he was without it . Like I said, my Marvel knowledge isn't the best though. I also loved that he's another one who proves that the 'modern' hero doesn't necessarily have to be the reluctant or flawed hero to be embraced by the 'modern audience.' I asked around about some Captain American graphic novels and heard the name Ed Brubaker as the writer for the Winter Soldier graphic novel. I don't have to be a Marvel buff to know that name as he's a really good writer. It also didn't escape my gaze that the screenwriter is the great Stephen McFeely  . That is great for also doing Narnia and great for overcoming that name

I thought the show was new based on the advertisement of 'all new' but apparently its a couple years old at least. I actually did enjoy it though. One thing about it, even if you don't have the first season there yet, they say that each episode is a stand alone story. The episode that I saw reminded me somewhat of a darker Doctor Who.

A few random sports comments. Its hard to make the stuff up. Connor Wickham had two goals in a half and they say he hadn't scored in the last 29 games

I haven't really delved into any 'big' games since I put down The Last of Us and Burial at Sea: Episode 2 recently.. just a bunch of short-form and arcadey type games like One Finger Death Punch, Renegade Ops, Rogue Legacy, Risk of Rain, Strider, ...

Upcoming games I'm most looking forward to:

- Alien: Isolation (at this point you'd think we'd know to not get our hopes up again for an Alien game, but it looks gooood Hands-on previews have actually been promising too)

- Arkham Knight

- Watch Dogs

- The Witness (Jonathan Blow)

- Hack 'N' Slash (Double Fine)

- The Evil Within (Shinji Mikami)

I sometimes worry a little bit about the people you usually see queueing up for new consoles on their day of release, if I'm honest. Not that it's my place to tell anyone how to spend their money of course, but I quite often have the vague impression that those funds would be better used elsewhere.

It's a hoot indeed! Why do I get the weird feeling Cara can probably turn her head 360 degrees as well?

You should see how Walmart is during the 'Black Friday' shopping holiday here in the states It's sheer madness for materialism on an epic scale that really sucks the faith in humanity right out of you like a punch from Manny Pacquiao right in the gut Go ahead, YouTube "Walmart Black Friday" and let the ensuing madness begin!

Have you been watching the Exorcist lately? That might explain the feeling?

That’s very true about Captain America, the character never really seemed to receive a great deal of exposure beyond being part of the Avengers group - as a Brit, I was never sure if that was simply a case of a guy marketed with an American flag not having as much traction over here, although I suppose he went through a period of being seen as slightly naff too, even in the States. It’s weird though, the character is a good guy to the core and he’s an uncomplicated guy in very complicated times, which somehow makes him seem all the more complicated, if that makes sense. It’s as if he’s complicated because he doesn’t know how to be complicated. If anything, I think it’s the angsty anti-heroes who are becoming somewhat passé these days.

I know there’s a particular Captain America story by Ed Brubaker (the title of which is in itself a bit of a spoiler), which is often cited as the main inspiration for the movie. If true, it’s a pretty strong indication of where the movies will be heading over the next few years.

I’ve seen a lot of Connor Wickham's exploits lately (he plays for the club I support), he’s a player of huge promise who appears to have all the ingredients needed to make a go of life in the Premier League - pace, size, brute strength, mobility, finishing – problem is, the club invested tons of money in him at too young an age, at a time when they couldn’t really afford to wait for him to develop. It's only recently that he's had his first real extended run in the team, and there have been some very encouraging signs. That might prove problematic again in the long run, because if he keeps up his current rate of development and starts to realise his full potential in the next year or so, there'll be bigger clubs trying to whisk him away. Still, if he should happen to do well for us in the meantime, I shan't be complaining.

Pretty awesome selection, I'll have to give 'Burial at Sea' a look soon.

Did 'Colonial Marines' have much going for it in the end? I know its visual issues were well documented and that it got considerable stick for being generally undercooked, but I never actually gave it a whirl. Was there any fun to be had?
