I´m all for Argentina-Brazil finale! It would be amazing, if you ask me, and I´m not even a huge footbal fan

That editorial is not quite her "look" - it´s something totally different and I love it, it shows her amazing variability! And yay for that song when did you become fully aware of her work?

It was my dream final before the tournament started, a South American rivalry like no other with the subplot of Messi vs Neymar (the master against the apprentice). Obviously, there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then. Second choice of Holland and Germany could still pan out, but I’m certain that it'll be a wonderful final, regardless of who the Germans play.

There was a particular editorial with Monika that really caught my eye, must have been about 18 months ago. It was the kind of thing that someone like ASOS might do, although if I'm not mistaken it was for a Polish magazine. I'll post it here if I can find it again. Anyway, she's been steadily growing on me ever since. Wonderful and so versatile. :wub2:

Who else are you liking at the moment?

Edit: found it! September 2012, a bit older than I thought.

Now that editorial would lure anyone into her thread

As for now, I´m still very Bregje-positive (her body is getting even better each year!!) and I´ve also fallen for Jospehine Skriver lately more than ever before. And the fact that she fights for the LGBT community and their rights to have kids and raise them as all the other people do made me utterly adore her not only for her looks but also for her kind heart and bright mind. She´s a super 5 - beautiful, funny, kind, clever and well spoken.

I also have a spot for Taylor Marie Hill for her excellent beauty, and as always, Xenia Deli and Nina Agdal can do nothing wrong there are many models I would like to follow.

I´ve watched the finale yesterday and could not believe my own eyes. Two super-b teams are unable to give a goal from clear chances for more than 100 minutes? I was like - wtf?? Amazing game that was pleasure to watch, yet painful for the lost goal opportunities. I so wanted Argentina to win - Germans are great football players too, but you could just as well put 11 androids there and no one would spot a difference.

I´m sad

30 minute engine preview of MGS5.  Interesting:

Also, free 'current' comics, updated daily:

What do you think of this 'revised' version of the Punisher?

In this series, they make the Punisher more relatable (batman like) and less fanatical (like in Punisher Max).  I wonder if it will catch on..

The closest comparison I could think of is how Canadians might have felt if the Canadian hockey team got destroyed in the Vancouver Winter Olympics. They destroyed Germany and Russia and were close with Slovakia and U.S. I guess if they got the bronze or less and got destroyed in the process.

Or if they'd lost to the USA at ice hockey during the Winter Olympics and been forced to take back ownership of Justin Bieber. The ultimate indignity.

Although I had to refute every scenario that involved American sports pain, I guess the closest thing is probably specific fanbases. They still don't compare, but the Cleveland fans, Raider fans and 21st century Cowboy fans are the standard for American sports disappointment. Surely there's many teams the world over, too many to count. Despite having several teams in different leagues, Cleveland hasn't been able to catch a break in any over the past 50 some odd years. I'm glad for the that LeBron has come back to them at least. The Cowboy fans are tried and true no matter what, but seem all but cursed under Tony Romo's tenure. The end of their games is the stuff movies are made of . As a matter of fact, they are harder to believe than actual sports movies.

Thinking about it now, the only comparable incidents I can really recall are amongst specific fanbases of English club sides, but even then, it's usually down to the cumulative effect of a full and disappointing season, rather than a heavy defeat in a one-off game.

How did Lebron's return go down with the Cleveland fans? I only ask because I've a few vague memories of him making some disparaging remarks about the town after leaving. Is all forgiven or does he have some work to do to get back in their good books?

Bregje and Nina can do no wrong in my eyes either. I don't know much about Taylor though, perhaps I should make an attempt at changing that.

It's pretty impressive that Josephine is sharing her personal story to help the LGBT community's fight for equality. I honestly believe that in the (hopefully not-too-distant) future, those who promote that kind of discrimination will be as much a source of amusement as folks who thought the earth was flat are in the present day.

Coincidentally, the same thing happened when I saw the above Monika ed as when I saw the below Josephine one (although I unfortunately don't have a song earmarked for her just yet). Afterwards, I declared myself a Skriver fan for life. It's also where my last avatar was cribbed from.

I'll have to try and check this out. Apparently, they've also made him a lot more vocal and more likeable than before, although he still does unpredictable, extreme things like blowing up buildings full of villains instead of going inside for a fight.

From what I hear, Marvel has recently reacquired the movie rights to The Punisher, which I guess hints that there's probably a Dredd-style remake on the cards. Castle hasn't really had much luck in to adapting to the big screen as yet, the Dolph Lundgren version in the eighties used the name and not much else, and the Thomas Jane one mostly disregarded the source material too, including the general setting and chunks of the characterisation. The most recent effort, 'Punisher: War Zone' wasn't completely without potential, but even that missed the mark for me somewhat. Overall though, I do think the character could still work on film.

I briefly considered taking the uploader to task for spoiling the ending in the title, but now that I think about it, it's probably not the kind of thing you just spring on someone.

The Punisher is basically a zealot, a ruthless fanatic- I just don't think that ordinary people who watch movies are drawn to this character as a protagonist.  I have the CBRs of the new series and he was changed into 'low budget batman' who kills criminals.  But he is also a batman that has friends...and acts like an ordinary person in day to day life.  This is a dramatic reversal from the traditional punisher.

BTW, I established a solid intellectual foundation for comprehending the Red Army as of late and it was much easier & faster than I anticipated.   I read 12 good books and finished a whole bunch of supplementary materials.  What I learned from all this study is that it is better to just take the time to do what I always wanted to do (for years) and not leave it on the sidelines.  The excuse I always gave myself is that 'there are more important things' for me to do.  But then the delays eventually fester into an inch that I can't scratch and gaps in my knowledge develop a mystique of sorts.

Now I am fully literate with operational histories at every level- from top to bottom.

Did you make Mantis your icon? Nice

Do you think that's going to end up being Skye's identity on Agents of Shield or do you think the rumours swirling that she could be Ms Marvel (especially because of the kree links), Spiderwoman or PhyllaVell?

I think the main problem with Castle his that is ‘unique selling point’ isn’t really unique enough. The Punisher backstory has been superceded so many times by a ruck of other action films, and he’s only ever been portrayed as a bloke with guns who hates criminals because they killed his family. All of which has become such well-trodden ground in the genre that even his standing as a comic book character seems to fade into the background.

For me, any potential new filmmaker would do well just to get the basics of the characterisation right, because Castle has a lot more to offer than just being a mindless killer. Admittedly, he's nowhere near as interesting as a guy like Batman, but his origin story is similarly poignant, and he has a very strong moral compass when it comes to protecting innocents. Plus, none of the previous films have convincingly portrayed his wife and son as the centre of his world, which is such an essential thing to get across (his decision to become a vigilante can’t be fully justified otherwise). Get that well and truly nailed down, take inspiration from something like 'The Raid' or the aforementioned 'Dredd' for the mood, have him take down the bad guys in more of a 'well-executed military operation' kind of way (no hanging upside down from chandeliers ) and throw in a few icy one-liners, and I think you'd have the makings of a decent movie.

Indeed I did.

When James Gunn said he wanted to have a minimum of two female members on the Guardians team next time around, I thought of Mantis straight away as a potential new addition, and I'd have to say my preference would be for her to be played by Chloe. I think she'd be a better fit for the physical design of the character than for any of those previously mentioned. But with the direction of 'Agents' being so strongly influenced by what goes on in the MCU, I suspect they're still keeping their options open with regard to Skye's identity, and that a lot will depend on where Gunn wants to take the next Guardians movie. Since Drax has been received so brilliantly, I'm assuming Moondragon has become a virtual lock to make an appearance in the sequel (which in turn lays the groundwork for Phyla-Vell to show up), so I suppose you'd have to question whether they'll be able to find space within the running time to introduce all three in the same film. My fingers remain crossed though.

Are you on board for the Inhumans movie then, Raf? I'm definitely interested, although I think it'll be harder to pull off than 'Guardians', which was always crammed with fun content and colourful characters. Much as I enjoy the Inhumans' stories, they can come across as having rather dry personalities at times.

I do think Chloe would be a great pick for her, particularly because I think she'd fit well into the character and they've got a potential plot they can use (I mean Skye was an orphan, and Mantis had false memories to put in which made her believe she was an orphan, so that would be interesting for Whedon to work with in the show) I do think though Marvel is pulling a lot more unconventional actors and actresses to portray their characters. Olsen was in no way my first choice for Scarlett Witch and I initially thought it was the worst thing imaginable but now I've grown a fondness for her. A lot of people aren't too pleased with who they picked for Mockingbird but overtime I feel like they'll like her too I still have yet to see Guardians (which I find horrible for not yet watching), but do you think they left enough things that could be used to develop Age of Ultron? All the Marvel movies correlate and it's very risky with the fact they have the new franchise (Guardians) having a probable influence on Age of Ultron (the main franchise), it's going to be so interesting though Of course they can also intertwine elements from both movies in Agents of Shield and soon to be Agent Carter, because from what I understand Peggy appears in Age of Ultron as a flashback scene, so maybe the plotline in Agent Carter has something that leads up to something Avengers related (I feel like I'm not making too much sense )

I would definitely like an Inhumans movie, particularly because of what it could lead on to in the future, I mean you have Crystal who is Quicksilver's wife, and considering she's also an Avenger in the comics it opens up so many opportunities of what they can do However despite the Inhumans, I'd really like for the Eternals to get some spotlight. They're one of the most ignored areas of Marvel yet I think they're the most exciting (not to mention my favourite character Sersi is an Eternal

In that case, I won't go too far in case you're still to see it. Suffice to say (chances are you'll have heard about most of it anyway ) that the main story of 'Guardians' is pretty standalone at surface level, although there are of course plenty of callbacks to past movies and things going on in the background that further the wider continuity. A lot of foundations are laid for things that'll be happening in 'Phase 3', too. Overall though, I'd highly recommend 'GOTG'. I thought it was up there with the best of Marvel's output, great set-pieces, thrilling and funny in all the right places.

I get the feeling that they like to keep 'Agents' pretty malleable so they can intertwine it with the 'bigger picture' of the MCU at fairly short notice. Probably as a matter of necessity too, since several elements of the movies are no doubt in a state of flux until quite late in the day. Although it had already started to evolve into more character-driven stuff before 'Winter Soldier' arrived, it was only when the movie plot was presumably finalised that the show seemed to really find some forward momentum.

I'm sure you'll have heard the news that Robert Downey is signed on for 'Captain America 3: Insert Subtitle Here' in 2016 (in a story taking its cue from the Marvel Civil War books) too, feels like a bit of a turnaround after the previous reports that he wasn't sold on making any more Iron Man movies. Money talks though, I guess - so much so that they're now talking about an 'Avengers 4'. Presumably, the civil war erupts when the rest of the team find out about the size of Iron Man's pay cheque.
