I consider it a bad idea to choose an engineering degree based on present or near future demand ..... main engineering branches will be always in demand, personal taste is a better criterion ![]()
Electrical and Chemical are my personal favs ![]()

As you know dear, I'm still 'exploring' options. I definitely want to "escape from New York" someday. Typically someone in my position would get ready to get a master's in financial engineering, econometrics, applied math, statistics, physics, etc.. If I pursue such an advanced degree, I certainly want something with more flexibility yet the same quantitative/physics based credibility.
Nothing is always in demand if there is a surplus.. Some engineering and medical fields in the US are getting more and more saturated. There is a saturation of pharmacists for instance that didn't exist several years ago. IF not, is there something I'm missing?
Maybe it's safe in Greece or where graduates of trades are restricted by quota/regulation or immigration laws. In the US, the floodgates are open for STEM (science, tech, engineering, math) According to the US labor (gov't statistics), there is a current and projected saturation of electrical engineers. I'm still in the research phase and trying to get grounded on the environment. Every hobby turns into a job given enough time...;) I don't have such lofty goals.
I've already started collecting textbooks in math, physics. Maybe even biology/chem later. In time, I'll be shifting towards these studies to prepare for a potential move.
I have other reasons for the change in interest. I have studied the social sciences on my own for the past 15 years (no degree- just disciplined effort. ) I self decree myself a BA in the liberal arts and a MA in Military History (with my graduate thesis on the war in the Eastern Front)
I feel like I've finished- I've done more work here than many, if not most.. in their lifetimes. Time to move on.
I suspect that getting more STEM will improve my understanding and thinking in the above interests, as well. Most certainly, econometrics needs strong math/physics. I believe it's the same in the social sciences, as well although to a lesser extent. This would be a strong source of existential satisfaction.

In Greece a minimum of 5 years of studies is required to be allowed to practice engineering. (Either a 5 year degree from a Greek Engineering school or a MS degree from an engineering school abroad .... 3-4 years college degrees are not good enough). After successfully completing your studies you have to be examined by a board of engineers to prove your competency. And if you want to practice serious engineering then you need more studies and you can't retain your license unless you prove to our professional association that you continuously participate in engineering projects and improve your skills. If you don't maintain your license you are not allowed to participate in serious engineering projects in Greece.
Situation is not very different in US ( and other countries). To become licensed engineer in your country you need to complete 4 years of studies and get a bachelor in engineering (that's theoretical, in fact especially in your country if you want to do serious engineering you need a master's degree and that means plus 2 years of studying), then you need to be examined by your professional association to be allowed an apprenticeship (not to practice engineering alone), then you need to work under a licensed engineer for at least 4 years and then take another exam to be allowed to walk alone. (and that's the minimum .... the more serious the engineering becomes the bigger the price)
It's similar in most developed countries .... you need about a decade to fully be an engineer and that's the picture I had in mind when I said it's a bad idea to choose based on current or near future demand. There isn't any safe way to predict what is going to be in demand by the time you would be ready to go. In fact the trends in engineering will be changed 2-3 times before you even go through the requirements and the patterns of change are impossible to follow. Projection of future trends based on current statistics are not safe and anyway even if it were it might lead you to a wrong direction.(something it doesn't suit you at all). Having chosen something that you love, you would be able to put the amount of time and effort needed to be very good at it. It's the very good engineers that survive the changes in the engineering trends not the ones made a lucky choice some years ago.
If I were you I'd choose the area with the maximum carry over effect, so that your desire to learn be better served ..... the 3 bigger branches of engineering: mechanical, chemical, electrical.
According to US labor bureau:
QuoteMechanical Engineers Job Outlook:
Employment of mechanical engineers is projected to grow 5 percent from 2014 to 2024, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Job prospects may be best for those who stay abreast of the most recent advances in technology.
Electrical and Electronics Engineers Job Outlook:
Employment of electrical and electronics engineers is projected to show little or no change from 2014 to 2024. Change in employment is expected to be tempered by slow growth or decline in most manufacturing sectors in which electrical and electronics engineers are employed.
Chemical Engineers Job Outlook:
Employment of chemical engineers is projected to grow 2 percent from 2014 to 2024, slower than the average for all occupations. Demand for chemical engineers’ services depends largely on demand for the products of various manufacturing industries.
If your personal taste points to Electrical ..... don't let the outlook stop you. It doesn't say the whole truth .... it says nothing about subareas of the science. Some of the most agile areas of engineering like robotics, industrial automation, processors, embedded systems ... etc are controlled by el engineers and there isn't any stagnation in those areas.

This is an "interesting" video. Elizabeth Turner is perfect. She is so, so delicate & pretty. :

Screencaps:
Dark Souls 3- Good stuff but it really does seem much inferior to Bloodborne in terms of design and artwork. (oddly enough, both produced by the same team).
+ Far Cry Primal is great and rather innovative. I particularly like the hunting and gathering aspects. i suspect that it will be a start of a new genre- the open-world caveman & settlement game. Eventually, there will be dinosaurs involved... I'll post stuff about it later.
Robin is a new favorite!!!! She's so gorgeous and sexy!

I've been slow with pms, post because 95% of my life has been work recently...

This game has some interesting concepts. It's similar in story/setting to the comic series "DMZ". It models an open-world Manhattan NYC (the home base is Penn Station, 34th St.) except as a shattered urban warfare zone. New Yorkers would get a kick out of seeing familiar sites getting altered. It's probably closer to the truth than it seems... the whole reason why more people aren't pulling out their guns and shooting each other in mass is presence of the NY police force and the National Guard..
This game should get also some traction from those millions of people who can't stand NYC (especially commuters like me).
I would die happy if a developer would use some of the same concepts and make an open world "Battle of Stalingrad" game.

The Division looks great !

I remember i played a mission in the Battle of Stalingrad in a CoD, but i don't remember which one now

^
I checked it out more...it's strong in multiplayer (single player campaign is weak) and rather..narrow in scope. The map appears to cover mainly mid-town Manhattan and there are no vehicles involved. (Only individual combatants). Looks fun for the time being, though.
There was the low budget RO2: Heroes of Stalingrad that had a good multiplayer. I played it about 3 (?) years ago.
A real Stalingrad open-world would involve everything- massed airpower (3,000 sorties a day from dive bombers and medium bombers), armor, infantry guns/artillery, truck mounted rocket launchers, mortars, anti-tank guns, etc.

Dark Souls 3 is terrific!!!

Need some help:
I am seeing two young, beautiful Parisian girls everyday at the office. We spend a lot of time together. They will only be in the office until early June so time is short. They are two students from the best university in france and are doing an internship. Both are very, very feminine yet very hardworking /ambitious at the same time. They twirl their hair and bite their nails when nervous and are still very young when relaxed (closer to childhood than adulthood IMHO). They laugh a lot and speak to each other in french . But they very well educated , good at speaking, fast learning, and possess high intelligence.
They speak good english, although the french accent for one is heavy. The other is a bit better. I am trying to find a better subject to talk about other than office politics, experiences in the US/France. It's going to be hard because I have a lot of time with them and I can't fail as a matter of honor with them. They must look back at their time with me with fondness. I also have the challenge of helping make their fridays more interesting and finding some kind of skill to work on so they can bring it back to their homeland.
AND NO, I am not trying to romance them. That would get me in deep trouble!
Stop killing Nazis with your IS-2 and attack the young French ![]()

I have good self control
The brunette and I have done very mild flirting and I also get along well with the blonde. Only time will tell if she will start flirting with me..
But seriously, this is a life experience that I'll remember so I need to do well with our time together.

20-30 hours. Looks like the final installment will be another work of art...

My NUTTY political thoughts that I brought here from the other thread.
I don't trust Trump, Hillary, and Bernie at all! Maybe an amalgam of all of them could work as POTUS though.
I want for all of congress & government officials to be thrown out of office because they don't do as a whole what's best for the people and only what's best for them. Career politicians suck!
I'm surprised their hasn't been any protests towards the ineptitude of the government.

It doesn't even seem like a real presidential election, more like a entertainment show. lol
