Hey Pinky! What techniques do you use to improve raster scans?

I am totally the wrong person to ask b/c I suck at scanning

But what I do is scan at about 300 dpi with a piece of black construction paper behind the image--->Crop image--->Resize image (b/t 1700-2000 px)---> "Reduce Noise"---> Adjust "Brightness"--->Sometimes I adjust the "Color Balance"--->"Clone Stamp" and "Healing Tool" to do some minor clean-up--->Tag
