What's up?

Not much. Got off early at work. Yes, I know I've only been working for three days again.

Not sure if anyone will ever read them, but a few general observations about what has been going on at BZ lately.

It seems to me that ever since the staff change this place has both gotten even more polarized that it already was (and frankly, that was one of the few things that bothered me about this place, even when I first started posting), and the level of arbitrariness in some of the decisions made, have gone up.

I frankly know nothing of what caused the rift in the staff originally, nor is it any of my business. But when it starts to lead to the banning of longstanding members like Mike and Nicole, over alleged flaming, then that resembles an act of petty revenge, and not the proper use of admin power.

I've seen other places falling apart over 3-4 people's bruised egos (all of which unfortunately happened to be staff members).

What you all should understand, is that when you start up a forum like BZ, and it becomes moderately succesfull, you create a small online community. Your first interest should always be the well-being of that community, and not your own ego. Banning or warning members as a validation of your own worth chips away at the integrety and value of communities like BZ. You would think that the people who were at the cradle of BZ, would treat their child with more respect than that.

However, if this trend continues, you will most probably lose most, if not all of the longstanding members. And I don't believe that disembowelling BZ like that is something anyone would wish for. (I hope so, at least)

Nicole knew she would get banned for what she said, she provoqued the staff on purpose because she wanted off that board anyways... as for the abitrariness going up with the new staff... well i don't think so. it's known that i dislike meghan and ashley now (well actually i don't really dislike them, i just... don't care ) but if i try to be unpartial i don't think they've always been fair... just my view though ...

You do have a point, I got an iffy warn from 'you know who' way before the staff change. But this latest stuff seems more like vendetta-inspired attempts to quiet the other party.

I think what caused this whole war was the amount of miscommunication, [inter]personal issues, and a bit of groupthink among certain members. I won't bore you w/ the the psycho-babble. From what I see the main issue has very little to do with the board itself, but people are using the board as a projection and a medium to "let out" the real issue. What is the real issue, you ask? I have no idea, but for it to come to this point it is obviously there is more than just the concept of BZ, being banned, resigning from the board, and etc. that is causing all this anger.

No one really knows what is really going on except the parties involved. Yes, we might hear things here and there, but as they say there are 3 sides of the story: those on side #1, those on side #2, and the "truth." We all have our own interpretations and perceptions about what is going on, so it is hard to judge what is the "truth." However, it is often easier to side w/ those of our friends and not truly see things objectively.

Also, I have noticed forums do bring out the worst in people at times, especially when people get too involved and not realize it is not life. Yes, it is part of our lives, but it does not define a person as a whole. I think people sometimes forget that and take things more seriously than they really are.

All the things I have just said are just general comments. I am not directing it at anyone in particular. I just wanted to make things clear so they would not be any further misunderstandings
