So it's Monday and that means new video!
And back with the clones playing some Thrash Metal this time
yes, @SuperG.Girl THrash
This is probably Metallica's biggest classic: MASTER OF PUPPETS
I hope you like it!
( @CandleVixen this is the one that had me suffering with the mixing of so many guitars
)

I was hesitant on sharing this one here but here it goes...
I wrote this in memory of my dog... attempting to write something as beautiful as she was

Great cover of a classic!
Your singing is actually better than Hetfield technically. He's great as a vocalist in his own way of course.
I hate to hear that about your dog, but that is a great tribute song.

In terms of technique I'd say it is.
Though Hetfield is a great vocalist indeed and I think that's one of reasons Metallica became as big as they are (unlike Megadeth for example... considering Mustaine sings so awful
)

Thank you!!

I sometimes wonder if that is the literal difference between Megadeath and Metallica.
I mean, I wasn't around when it all started and haven't done any research on that end, so that's just a general takeaway as someone who loves them both. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of vocalists that I love who don't have objectively good voices, but...Most of them have their phrasing, emotion or other intangibles to make up for it. With Jimi Hendrix, he was so cool that it didn't matter. With Mick Jagger, his phrasing and stage presence are so amazing. Bon Scott is one of my favorite rock singers and is obviously no Freddie Mercury. Punk and Raggae obviously play by different rules. Mustaine though...great arrangements...

Oh, certainly it's not the only difference. Megadeth took a more technical and complex approach to their music, and while Metallica's music was getting increasingly more complex too, up to a point (...And Justice For All) they went back to the basics (the Black Album), which not coincidentally is when they made it even bigger.
More accesible music + James' (much) better singing is I think what made the difference between Metallica and Megadeth in terms on massive success.
Oh and I love Bon Scott's singing! I actually prefer that AC/DC to Brian Johnson's era.

I must ask...... have any of your fans ever asked for your wiener? ![]()

The whole idea of someone like Megadeath crossing over at all is such a foreign concept to me in general.
It almost seems like another world. Then again, my background is rap/r&b and I love it, so I shouldn't be surprised that they had such a cult following. It also seems to me that Metallica was a lot more consistent overall. Megadeath's highs are high, but their lows are really low.
As a result, that Dystopia was such a surprise.
Recent discovery...
Pre-pop Whitesnake.
That cover

Didn't realize they had Mick Moody and Jon Lord.
I actually got on board for this (one of my favorite Sykes jams), one of my favorite songs ever...
...and was surprised by this more recent one too...

Metallica had quite a low with St. Anger though

That is my favorite Whitesnake by far!! Much better than the Glam band they became after (which I still like a lot though)
They also had Ian Paice during that time
Still Of The Night was also one of the first songs I heard of them and an early favorite till I discovered the older stuff

This week's video is special: this is the first time I do a "clones" video of an original song instead of a cover
For this one I rescued one of the first songs I wrote: Piedra Al Hombro (something like Stone on the Shoulder), written in 2005. It's actually the 10th song I ever did and maybe the first actually decent one I wrote.
Later, with the band I had during High School we started playing this song.
So, I really hope you like this!
Piedra Al Hombro

A great vocal, solo (and arrangement) and the riff somehow hits like something nostalgic while I haven't heard it before at the same time.
It always feels great to hear a new good song whether its old and just new to me or actually new. Well, y'all did it back in the day, but you get my drift. It just kindof shows at the end of the day for someone like me (who is strictly a fan when it comes to music) to not spend too much time shaking my head at the stuff that dominates the top of the American charts and just take comfort in the fact that good music is still being made. Also, I just listened to the "Man in the Box" cover. Great job on that one too. I was curious to see how a less gravely voice would sound on that one, but it worked out well. Y'all ever covered Queensryche btw?

Thanks a lot!! Glad you liked the song!
And that's a good sign about the riff. The song has aged quite well considering it's one of the first I ever did: I didn't have to work much on the arrangement, which is pretty much the same as we used to do with my high school band. The solo I did it again though, since it wasn't me who played it in that band.
(And well, what dominates the top of the charts here isn't any better than what does it the US... )

Thanks! Man In The Box I did it half a tone higher than the original too.
And no, I've never done nothing by Queensryche. Actually I haven't listened much to them
It's on my "to-listen" list since a long time, but I haven't given myself the time to get into them. I only know a couple of the most known songs.

Being Monday, here's a new video!
I did a bit of an experiment on this one and played the string quartet of the original on guitars only (plus bass).
So here it is:
Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles
I hope you like it!!
