LOL! Really? I've never really thought about it!  I generally just thought of them as blues/rock, which is kindof strange because I think of Derek and the Dominoes as Hard Rock when they have the same level of hardness.  I don't know whether you've ever listened to Marilyn Manson or not, but on their previous record, they had some blues in there. They were the last ones I would have expected.

Well, Hard Rock comes directly from Blues Rock, so they're very close and in the late '60s, early '70s the frontier between both was quite blurry

Yes, I've listened to Marilyn Manson but I don't follow him.

I've noticed huge influence from Alice Cooper there though.

I still think Screaming Jay Hawkins shocked people more in his time.

BTW, where does Vita rank in your favorite models?

Sure he did!

Oh and do you know Arthur Brown?? Pretty much the father of Black Metal and direct predecessor to the likes of Alice Cooper. He may have taken some influence from Screaming Jay Hawkins as well.

Good to see further proof that metal is alive and well. Great vocals and great overall sound.  I've always thought of instrument playing while singing to be an impressive skill. Well, particularly while standing up with said instrument. So strange that I was just looking at Blue Murder and T-Bone Walker thinking this and her you guys are. Its also good that a 6 minute song leaves you wanting more rather than the other way around.

Thanks!

And it's indeed alive and well!

Actually most songs on this album are not that easy to sing while playing guitar at the same time. This one in particular has it's difficulties so it takes some concentration.

Great that at a bit over 6 minutes it leaves you waiting for more! objective fulfilled then

Yeah   ...

I don't know whether you like Van Halen or not, but you can still have an opinion on this.

Roth or Hagar?

For the record, Roth for me.

I love Van Halen!!

So David Lee Roth. Definitely and without the slightest doubt David Lee Roth's era.

Though Hagar is, objectively and in terms of technique, a much better singer, I think Roth fitted the band better and I like much more the music they did during his era.

The debut album is my favorite by them.

One of the strongest debut albums ever btw. Right up there along Are You Experienced? and Appetite For Destruction.

You forgot "Its About Time" by the Jonas Brothers.  When VH would audition before the first record, a lot of people said that they wouldn't make it with Roth as the lead singer. Its a good thing they didn't listen. I actually like the first Sam Halen album, but it seemed to have gone down from there.

Oh yeah, Sammy definitely had a better singing voice. Its kindof like James Brown in a way. He had countless peers with better singing voices, but he made up for it with his showmanship, phrasing and all-around creativity. Roth's energy really embodied their sound and he wrote more than some realize too. A lot of people seem to think of 84 as their best, but that first one is such a monster. Every single song rocks out ridiculously! Objectively, 84 probably is as consistent musically, just closer to pop crossover than the smash mouth rock and roll. I feel about them similar to Guns and Roses in a way. Showing versatility is cool ("Patience"), but I prefer them rocking out ("Welcome to the Jungle" "Paradise City") personally. 84 is high energy and one of my favorites though, don't get me wrong. As to favorite record, after hearing Fair Warning for the first time recently, I'm still undecided on a favorite.

1984 is a great album too, but VH has an energy that I like much better.

I'm The One has to be my favorite from it!

Oh, and Appetite for Destruction is surely my favorite by Guns!  Same as VH I, it has a raw energy that gives it an edge over the following albums.
