^ About Chrissy, is just that I don't find her attractive at all. I think most of the hate she has here comes from her public persona and her social media personality and such. But I don't really follow any of those things and she's not at all known over here either, so it's not like she's a constant presence to be avoided or anything.

Concerning Cara, I just don't like her physical appearance as well. I don't find her that attractive, even less for a model, let alone one as popular as she is. Oh, and I saw once a video of her playing drums, and it's not like she was playing that good at all, but she was all celebrated for that...

^^

I can see how the drum playing would offend you....LOL.

===============================================

LOL, dwarfism..  I don't follow celeb pop media or watch talk shows so I don't know much about Cara or Chrissy.

I guess the posters here are purists, who want to see more serious modeling rather than celebs loaning their face for a skin care, cosmetics, fragrance or clothing line.

^ yeah there's something odd about Nina's face, but I just can't put my finger on it to explain what.

It's funny how Chrissy and Cara are popular outside of this forum, as public figures. Not just in terms of modelling, I see both as celebrities with a brand now. Yet among this forum, they aren't all that loved.

Here is another (new and unpopular) model that caught my eye circa 2013. Does she appeal to you?  I think she is a hidden beauty, waiting to break out but aside from the occasional walk on FW and editorial she never does....:

Sanna Backstrom:

In regards to Chrissy, I don't follow her social media either... I think most of what I know of her personality is what I've read people here say about her. I just don't like her face.

I just know that Chrissy Teigen was chosen to host the billboard awards, and when she went to the Oscars she became a viral sensation with her "cry face" plus I keep seeing pics of her and John Legend, she was in his music video. She was/maybe still is a host on some TV show. So that's why I see her as more of a public figure now because I know about all this without ever googling her.

Same deal with Cara.

Actually all the big social media/ socialite models annoy me, because they just seem to be everywhere. Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Hailey Baldwin.... they have to be everywhere. And the fact that they all hang together just makes me think they are just using the friendship to get more popular/ they are just trying to create this exclusive, top girls club. Hard to explain. But I just don't like the huge social media phenomenon these days, it would be ok if it just stuck to the Internet, but now when you watch a commercial there's the whole hashtag thing. I'm too old school. I think that's my main problem lol

Andy, Yup I'm aware of Sanna Backstrom. Looking at her again, she has this frail look to her body that I don't like though. If a model is skinny/flat chested then she really needs to have a stunning face. i don't find her face all that special.

i wonder how rich Cara is though. Where does she stack up against the other top models in pay? Gisele, will have her beat for sure.... I wonder if Cara is close to being the 2nd highest paid model? (I'm talking per year, not total accumulated wealth) Will she ever replace Gisele?

Oh, I see.  It's her gorgeous IMHO face that does it for me, along with her height.  She is even prettier in her instagram than her limited work.  She is a bit too frail, though.  I am going to update Bree and her thread with their social media photos soon.

Thanks for talking to me about such things; I haven't had anybody to seriously talk to about models since mid-2014...

Oh no problem Actually I'm glad you still want to talk to me because we have such different tastes in models. You really know your stuff, so it's always a pleasure talking to you.

And you as well, I enjoy talking to you too.  You know, I think differences in tastes are of zero consequence since we respect each other   Eventually I'll find a shared model, LOL!

Going back to the Sanna topic....

When it comes to models, I like models that are pretty but also ones who have a unique enough look to me that I can identify them right away and not confuse them with other models.

I think why I can't take to Sanna Backstrom because while I know of her, I still can't identify her if I saw a pic of her because to me there are lots of models that look like her. For example, I can easily mix her and Maritza Veer up. Maybe I need to pay close attention to their work, so that I can better identify them but some other modeks I can see like one pic for the first time and the next pic of them I can identify.

For example, I saw one pic of Emma Stern and I could immediately identify her the next time I saw her. Same with Kadri Versalu.... her eyes are so unique. I think both are pretty, they aren't favs or anything but they interest me more than say Sanna or Maritza.

Hahaha same for me about her. I don't like her face, but the little I know about her personality on social media is what I've seen here. I'm clueless about anything else about her

It actually kind of annoys me too. And now that you mention her, I just can't like Gigi Hadid... great body, but her face just doesn't do it for me. About Kendall I'm mostly indifferent, but the fact she's related to the Kardashians doesn't help at all . Who's Hailey Baldwin? Her name kind of sounds familiar to me but I don't know who she is.

Oh and I hate seeing the fucking ### everywhere

^the last name Baldwin is probably what is hinging a bell to you. She's part of that Baldwin family, where there are a bunch of brothers who are famous actors. Most notably Alec Baldwin. Hailey is his niece and she's the daughter of the actor Stephen Baldwin. And speaking of the Baldwin's..... Alec's daughter is also a model. Her name is Ireland Baldwin, and one can see her hanging around Gigi Hadid a lot. The thing with Hailey, Ireland and Kendall is that it's more or less their family name which allowed them to be models. That's what it looks like to me.

I do too, as it is relaxing and I rarely get a chance to do so.  I feel comfortable with you and I like that you have vast knowledge of models.  You bring up something interesting that has just gotten me thinking...

You know, this forum to me has always come across as strangely anti-social for such a large user base, as if it is filled with very quiet people.  Members forums however, is different but most of the time members forums has been mostly inactive since mid-2014.

Most big forums are like: imdb.com with posters being very loose in their comments, and without much filter.  Many are trollish.  I would be considered super-quiet there with little desire to post but here I am one of the most talkative ones and end up greatly restricting what I post.  In most forums, I believe if I make a comment, there will be some sort of related (mostly indirect) response but here there are often none at all.

What is further odd about this forum is how business-like rather than hobby like/community like most of the activity is (just posting content).  The business like is great for the forum as there is a stream of contributions and threads get updated.  However, outside of the Barbara Palvin thread, most of what is not related to the content in the models forum is merely just variations of these two phrases: "I like." "I agree".   I find reading these repetitive comments to be very boring.  In the other threads, there are some debates, but I think just as much, if not more posters who simply just pop in to announce an opinion, as if it was a fact and don't have any desire to follow-up on it conversationally.  So many posts look like the poster is just talking to themselves..    Another thing  I've observed over the years is that almost all here have no interest in cultivating relationships which is quite different from other forums I've observed (I'm a regular of one of them), where people threat the forum users as if they were facebook friends and people who have potential for IRL contact, and they freely disclose personal info.  It is so social that with many posters I wonder how much interest they really have in the topic (factual historical discussion) rather than using the forum mostly for socializing. Going that off-topic to me is odd, as well (in a polar opposite way compared to this forum).

Yes, you have insight here...lol I like Maritza Veer too.  I was looking at Anouck's stuff and she looked like Farah Holt from some angles.  I'm really attracted to tall blondes and Brazilians, often with angular faces.  Donny (donbot) often remarked that my galleries were a "haze of blonde" (lol) and I seem to be attracted to certain types, which repeat themselves in my galleries.  Another model I really like is Sasha Luss, who gives the same emotional impression of Sanna IMHO (warmth, endearing).

I like Emma Stern although I tend to prefer more angular faces, so I forget about her.  She has a superhumany tall body.  She does stand out; I think it's her lips that are most uniquely shaped along with that quite small nose.  :

Did you collect dolls by any chance when you were small or continue to do so?  If so, what type? Barbie, Cabbage patch.. The models you like resemble dolls (facially) to me.

I can understand you not knowing about her because while I do see her a lot it's not like she's a Karlie or Cara scoring Vogue covers, major beauty campaigns and other very high profile modelling gigs. Plus she's not popular on here either. She's more of a socialite model, who still gets somewhat decent modelling jobs that I scratch my head at, unfortunately I'm aware of such models. I wish I wasn't though

Interesting thoughts and you make a lot of sense. For me I'm torn when it comes to the "business setting" (as you put it) and the social setting. Overall I don't visit a models thread daily, or even weekly. So when I do venture into a thread I like to get updated immediately and not have to dig through pages of talk. Though at the same time it's nice hearing people's opinions. I think for the popular models that garner a lot of talk then there should be a thread open in the general babe discussion specifically dedicated to that model. Similar to the style of Adriana Lima, Alessandra's but it doesn't have to be set up like a sub forum. A better example would be the DiCaprio situation. He has his main thread and in the general guy discussion forum, Leo has his own Discussion thread.

However, to even open up a discussion thread there has to actually be people willing to talk, and the point your making is that there is less communication in general on here. I guess I'm still viewing the forum like it once was and not how it is presently.

Maybe the decrease in activity here, has something to do with social media? I notice there are tons of fan accounts on Instagram dedicated to certain models, so maybe the big time fans would rather just spend their time updating their accounts and communicating with other fans through there?

Yeah, most people tend to have a "type" perfectly normal

Yes, Emma's lips are her stand out feature. And yes she has a small nose... which I'm not too fond of.

Yeah, when I was a kid I would collect Barbies. Different kinds of dolls too, but I don't think Cabbage patch dolls were a big deal when I was a kid. None of my girl cousins or friends had them either. And usually I'd get sucked into commercials, if there were tons of cabbage patch commercials, I think I would have been sucked into it. For example there was a time when I was really into Furbies lol because there was a time when they were the "it" toy.

I've never once stepped into a Free People store. However, I'm familiar with the brand because so many "top models" / better knowns have worked with them at some point. Here in Canada Free People exists, but it is not a widespread store, Ive never even seen it yet. Maybe that's the same case in the States, I don't know. All I know is that it's not like an H&M or Express store, where you can find it at any big mall here.

^ In regards to Karlie, I can say she's doing very well for herself. She has impressed me with all the prestigious modelling gigs she has landed. She is killing the game these days from what I've seen and she has created a brand for herself. I don't watch all her interviews or anything, but I do get the impression she's a friendly, out going person who is well spoken. Now looks wise I don't like her and never have. Way too tall for my liking. She has this Tom boy look to her body, I guess because of her shape. She has a somewhat banana shape and in combination with her height... it's even worse. I don't think she's all that pretty in the face either. When she smiles, her lips look non existent. Plus her smile in general annoys me.

Oh and the whole Taylor Swift thing, annoys me.

I will say that these days she has a bit more va va voom to her than she used to have, but I'm still not a fan of her looks.
