But at least you pay attention to other sports too. Here it's like football is all there is. And even more so now, since Copa América is being held here. For example, on your typical newspaper sports section, 90% of it will be football or football related. And the rest to every other thing.

Tennis was popular not long ago when we had world class players. It's still popular but it has kind of faded.

No! Not at all  My favorite is basketball! I almost never watch football to be honest. Just when the national team plays. Other than that almost nothing.

And he's going to need a talking donkey

^ oh wow 90% coverage is a lot! And yeah your right.... Hockey may be big here but theres still a relatively fair coverage of the MLB and NBA. The NFL is big here too, even though there's no Canadian team. Then our the Toronto FC soccer team gets decent coverage as does the CFL (Canadian Football league) Hockey is first, but yeah theres still decent coverage of the rest.

Is the FIFA women's cup big in Chile now? Is there even a team in Chile? It's getting a lot of coverage here, as Canada has a team but I could give a rats ass to be honest.

Oh your fav is basketball.... Cool! Have you ever watched a WNBA game? They probably don't broadcast it there..... it barely gets any attention here and in the States.

Okay, I may be exaggerating a little, but still it must be around 80% at least: say 4 out of 5 pages, which is actually pretty accurate.

So is baseball popular in Canada then? Here for most people baseball is mostly a strange thing that doesn't make much sense  Me included; I've never been able to fully understand it. ESPN broadcast a fair amount of games though. I guess it's because it's more or less the same ESPN for all latin america and it's popular in some places, specially Central America. In South America, besides Venezuela no one gives a shit about baseball

Interesting there's an NFL following. CFL is similar to American Football (NFL)?

No, not really. Maybe there's a team, but I'm not sure; probably not. And if there is it doesn't get any media coverage. As you do most people here really don't care about it.

Yes it is! Probably a family thing: my dad never really cared about football either, but he loves basketball and he played when he was young.

I've never seen a WNBA game. And as far as I know it's not broadcasted here. If it gets little attention in Canada and the States, then it's even less over here.

^ oh OK haha

Yeah Baseball is pretty popular here. Well here in Toronto we have our own MLB team... The Toronto Blue Jays. Every game is packed with fans and the blue Jays merchandise sells very well. And yes lol, I've been to many Blue Jays games but I still don't fully understand what's happening lol. But everyone around me is fully engaged and knowledgeable about the sport

And yeah the NFL is more popular than the CFL here. If we ever got an NFL team, it would be major lol. During Super Bowl time we are just like the States.... most people have Super Bowl parties and grocery stores are packed with people buying Pop and chips. Some grocery stores even sell football cakes during that time lol. It's the most watched sporting event.... I mean our CFL team the Toronto Argonauts have won the championship several times we call it the "Grey cup" however it still doesn't garner the same amount of TV ratings and parties that super bowl does. I mean winning the Grey Cup is still a HUGE deal here but it doesn't measure up to the Super Bowl. However, in speaking as someone a part of the Greater Toronto area, other parts of Canada can be totally different for all I know.

I mean most Canadians don't want to admit it.... but we are pretty much just an extension of the United States in many ways lol.

I kind of expected NFL to be popular there, but definitely not that much.

Football cakes?

But I'm surprised about baseball! I had no idea it was that popular in Canada, even less that there was a team in Toronto. Is the team good?

My sister was in Vancouver for a couple of years and she says hockey was everything

Lol yeah the bakery I used to work at, the decorators were instructed to make football cakes lol. And they sold haha

I have no idea on the popularity of baseball in Vancouver, we are so far away from them that it almost seems like we are a different country lol and I have never been there. I don't think Vancouver has a MLB team though. In regards to hockey in Vancouver..... they have those Vancouver Canucks that I know they must go crazy over lol. Actually the NBA had a team in Vancouver too at one point.... 20 years ago the Toronto Raptors and the Vancouver Grizzles entered the NBA as expansion teams. The Grizzlies lasted in Vancouver for about 6 years before they moved to Memphis. And as you know the Raptors have stood the test of time in Toronto. I hear a lot of people in Vancouver are fans of the Lakers.... Probably because of their close proximity to LA.

But yeah, the Blue Jays have won the world series championships 2 times back in 1992 and 1993. I was too young to remember but hearing about it from older people, it was major... which is pretty obvious. These days I don't even think we make the playoffs. However, the fan support is always high for the most part.

Oh and back to the WNBA, sad how female in sports don't garner anywhere near the attention and recognition as their male counterparts. I think the only sport that females get a decent amount of recognition is in tennis. Also, Ronda Rousey is very famous these days (female wrestler) I keep seeing her face everywhere.

It's like the opposite in the modelling world.... female models get more attention than male models. It's like playing sports is considered masculine (actually a lot of these pro female athletes have this masculine demeaner about them... especially in the WNBA) and modelling is widely considered a female profession... Just like nurses and flight attendants. Then firefighters and police officers are dominated by males. No one really says female model, they just call them models... but with men... people usually say "male models"

The WNBA is getting attention these days..... but it's over domestic violence between two engaged WNBA players. It's publicity for the league, albeit not good publicity.... some say any publicity is good publicity but in this case I don't think it'll help the WNBA when it comes to ratings or getting more TV time. I mean don't get me wrong the league is still on ESPN at times... but it's just not anywhere on par to the NBA.

Oh and remember I told you about that Kate Upton, Game of War commercial that they constantly play here? Well they finally stopped playing it lol, I mean they still play game of war commercials non stop but Kate Upton is no longer present in the commercial.

Speaking of Kate Upton, are you a fan of Charlotte McKinney? Her face doesn't really do it for me, but I'm sure most people don't really pay attention to her face they just notice you know what. I'm not a Kate U fan, but I think Kate has the prettier face.

Well, Canada is huge so I get the idea  It's like 3 or 4 time zones between Toronto and Vancouver, right?

Ah yes, she told about the Canucks and how they're huge over there and people go crazy when they play

In regards to the Grizzlies I always found so weird that they were called Grizzlies and played in the Western Conference being from Memphis. Then I knew they were originally from Vancouver and it all made sense haha. Curious they're fan of the Lakers. If it was for geographical proximity the Trails Blazers would make more sense.

So they have won titles then. I always found funny how they refer to the MLB finals as the "World Series", like if teams from all the world were playing   (When most of the world don't give a fuck  )

That's true, in general it receives little to no attention. You're right, female tennis players get more recognition, but again it's still much less than their male counterparts. But has to do with factors like in general the male version of any sport would most likely be faster, more aggressive, and those things are what get the attention of the viewer.

Also you can notice, in many cases female athletes are more recognized for their physical appearance more than their actual skills. Because, well, most sports consumers are men.

I think I've heard about Ronda Rousey, but I don't really know who she is.

Hahaha yes, in modeling is the complete opposite in terms of who gets the attention

Hahaha yes I remember! Sounds like you're relieved  And you remember that terrible fries commercial? It stopped playing on TV here too!

I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I do like her (for obvious reasons    ) to some degree. But her face is kind of hit or miss most of the time, and probably more miss actually. That said, her body is incredible! Much better than Kate's in my opinion, specially these days  . But yeah, Kate's face is prettier and I'm not a fan of her face either.

Toronto is 3 hours ahead of Vancover. Same time difference between NY and LA. East vs. west haha.

Probably because Lakers have more history (they were a winning team for so long) and fans in general from all over... even though they suck currently.

And yes, physiology does come into play. Men are bigger, faster and stronger and that's a big part of Athletics. So naturally you'd want to see the sport being played at its highest form. However, with ice skating and gymnastics, which relies on different sets of skills... I.e being graceful... women rule.

When it comes to fanbase, I hear that lesbians make up a huge fan base of the WNBA. So they have their support. Plus, I'm sure they can rely on the hardcore feminists too.

Yes, true lol. Naming it the "world series" doesn't make much sense because the league only encompasses North America, which in no way is a representation of the world lol.

In regards to Ronda, I've never seen her in her element. However, I keep seeing her name all over... plus she was in the Entourage movie and the latest Fast and the Furious movie. In the Entourage movie, she had a cameo... and in the Furious movie she basically just played a tough female kicking ass. She was famous even before the movies, it's her wrestling fame that got her the movie roles. She reminds me of that other female wrestler from years ago... remember Chyna? Ah yes, that singing McDonalds commercial. Yeah that was bad lol

We have this new Subway commercial (don't know if you have that fast food restaurant chain in Chile) but thet are advertising their new Avocado selections. So the commercial consists of a group of people going to someone's door singing that Christmas song, "Deck the Halls" but they change the lyrics to include their stupid avocado message. It's the season for avocado but they think they are being witty by juxtaposing it with the holiday season. I can't find it online to show you though. Oh and at the end of the commercial the singers give the guy an avocado sweater.... I HATE it lol

Probably that's it. it's incredible how much they suck now  Let's see what happens next season.

Oh yes, in those sports you mention it's a completely different story! But then again, those aren't the most popular ones either  It's like most people only remembers about them during the olympics or such instances (me included, I have to admit)

Really? Oh, I had absolutely no idea about it. Quite surprising! Any ideas on why that happens?

Maybe she's transitioning to acting? (considering that wrestling is mostly acting though  )

Yes, that awful commercial. Is finally out!

Oh, I see bad commercials are after you over there      We do have Subway here. Quite a lot of restaurants actually. There's even one in Osorno now

And here there used to be one some 4 blocks from here but it's been closed since months. Looks like they're working in there, but apparently there's not much progress.

What do you think of Yulia Rose?

http://www.bellazon.com/main/topic/48059-yulia-rose/page-5

Several rave over here here but I find her dull and throwaway.  She is objectively pretty like a porcelain doll but has very little character as a model to me.  She also looks too teenaged/15 year old ish.

http://www.bellazon.com/main/topic/55882-2016-si-swimsuit/page-23

Oh, and Charlotte:  She has a uniquely sexual body but her face doesn't work most of the time like Carlos said.  Still, I keep coming back to that thread due to that body and how she amuses me!! :-p (not so much in a fan sort of way, but mainly because she does funny things).  She really shouldn't have gotten that nosejob.

You must have lots of outfits- enough for two months or more?  I only have outfits for 2 weeks, so after a while I'm sure that everybody is familiar with what I'm wearing.  Yea, i don't stink at all- I'm 100% sure of it!!

I think that teacher of yours saw his clothes as a uniform it seems.  That makes sense, I guess.  I dress mainly to impress others but otherwise I have zero interest in shopping.  It's funny that when I do shop, I mainly just observe the decor and the items.  I find the women's clothing more interesting than the men's (LOL).

With Uniqlo I went there again since I last mentioned it.  I think if you get a chance, you'd find something useful in there.  What stands out is the huge array of colors for generic utility items.  The place also has a wide selection of things which makes me understand its rising success.  If I want green underwear, I can get it at Uniqlo!

With the Japanese and their fashion, what stands out to me is their tendency to wear a lot of different colors instead of the generic ones in the US.  Also, with menswear they like very tight-fitting clothes which is not the case here, either.  And in Uniqlo I found the fabrics to be quite Japanese as well- the japanese like soft fabrics on their skin and not the coarser fabrics in the west.

I may be wrong but that's the impression I have always had.

Yes, also with shoes I have only a few and for utility reasons.  I only use half a dozen regularly.  To me, I don't believe that people look at my feet....they will notice the clothes on my body but the I should be able to get away with the shoes.

I see nothing wrong with wearing the same clothes over and over again. As long as the clothes are clean and one doesn't stink, then its all good. Well keeping in mind that the person mixes it up every now and then because if every single day i saw the same person wearing the exact same outfit, then id raise my eyebrow a bit. For example, my grade 5/6 teacher would wear the exact same shirt, every single day that i was in his class. It was a white short sleeved, dress shirt. He probably had multiple shirts of the same style, but the whole class kept wondering why he never even changed it up atleast once. Sometimes his shirt would look a little bit yellow, like it needed a wash. However,he was a great teacher people would gossip about his wardrobe but it seemed everyone liked and respected him. And hey, perhaps he just thought of it as a "work" uniform... many people have to wear the same outfit for ork or school. A few times someone brought it up to him in class, but i cant remember his exact answer... something about liking the shirt and he couldnt be bothered but im paraphasing to the highest degree here.

I have heard of uniqlo, i dont know why because i dont ever recall seeing a store here. Maybe I need to look harder, if I pass by a store now id definiately notice it. I take it I learned of the name somehow by following some model. I see Mona Matsouka models for them, maybe thats how i became aware of the name. Looking at the link you provided me, i dont really noticing anything distinctly Japanese that would make me think the non-Japanese models looked out of place. I have a somewhat interest in Japan, specifically Tokyo... i am aware that the fashion there is a bit more outlandish and interesting than what we are accustomed to here in North America. However, from what ive seen from that site the clothes dont look all that different from what ive seen here. However, when i think distinctly Japanese I still think of Kimonos and the like.

I tend to collect shoes, but they tend to be flip flops, I have alot compared to any other style of shoe. In the cooler months i wear flat boots. I dont wear sneakers, and I dont like wearing heels. Ever since i was a teen, i had no desire to be taller than I am and technically I am average height at about 5'6.. I actually wanted to be shorter because i felt i would look cuter in higher shoes. Even when I wear slightly elevated shoes, I am taller than most women I pass by and some men too. I guess that shows that i like blending in? You'd think with my interest in models i would actually want to be their height, but in reality no lol.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand.... I clearly derailed there.  I own alot of flip flops, but again its a collection over the years and they arent of the expensive variety. Handbags I was never interested in all that much, but during my weird year in 2012 when I went on this weird buying spree... I purchased a Coach and Michael Kors bag. Actualy that MK bag is the only bag I use these days.

Interesting, I never heard of "Charming Charlies" or "The Limited" Maybe we dont have it here. Are they relatively known stores where you live?

Oh how wrong you are Steph.  You should wear heels (I know they are uncomfortable).  It would make you look more attractive to men, especially with your legs <3.

No, they are not that common.  What is very common in malls across the country are big box retailers like Sears, Macy's, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Niemann Marcus.  These are often the centerpieces of the shopping center.

With women's clothing/cosmetics I think it is often meant more to impress other women.  Most men do not have much fashion sense or standards.  A woman only needs to be at a certain standard and beyond that it is not very noticeable.

Also, the other day I saw a high end cosmetics store using a half naked male model to 'encourage' women to go inside.  He was very pretty, was quite tan and had very sculpted muscles/ abs.  I found it quite amusing :-D

Carlos, yes true... most people would only pay attention to those sports come Olympics time.... me I never pay attention whether it's olympics time or not lol

My guess would be because the league itself is known to have a lot of lesbian players. Makes sense. It's just like a lot of the men in the modelling world tend to be gay. (Not all but I'm talking higher percentages than usual) A lot of fans of male models tend to be gay too, not all and definitely not all WNBA fans are lesbians either but a big portion of the fan base is.

Lol yeah, I thought you would remember Chyna. She was everywhere at one point... wonder what she's up to these days because I never hear of her anymore.

Ah I see, Subway is another chain that's taking over the world.
