Sweet Lu and Limer, I agree 100%.
I also think it's kinda unfair that female celebs are getting bashed for some extra pounds. Remember Jennifer Love Hewitt? Or Jessica Simpson? They were literally SMASHED in the media for getting thicker for a while. And why? Maybe just because the tabloids need to write - regardless of whether there's anything relevant to write about or not.
I've already mentioned that my girlfriend has a few extra pounds and I don't mind it at all. I love her the way she is, however trivial that may sound. Besides, there's another factor - she used to be about 20 pounds thinner (I didn't know her back then) and she said it wasn't good for her. She looked nice in the thigh area, but she had "skeleton shoulders" (that's what she says). So it also depends on individual anatomical and genetical factors, I'd say. A very slim does not suit every woman and people have to realize that, otherwise we'll still be living in a world of wrong preassumptions.
I think it's ultimately about self-esteem and stuff. If you feel good and healthy in your body, then the weight doesn't really matter.
By the way, can you think of any examples of women who put on weight and looked better afterwards (in your opinion)? Or women who lost weight and, consequently, some of their appeal?
Let me mention Jennifer Love Hewitt again. I really like her figure (great, full thighs) and when I visited her thread here, I saw some recent pictures in which she looked quite thin. I suppose she might have felt upset or somewhat insecure after her infamous bikini shots were published (nothing wrong with them, if you ask me!) and she decided to lose weight, which meant in turn losing some of her curves.
Seriously, what could possibly be wrong with a woman like this?
good point, those two girls put on some 'extra weight" and they get bashed for being fat. i thought they looked fine, more real. And i loved how JLH handled it by taking them to task over the way society has become obsessed with weight.

Lindsay Lohan
i think it is mroe the fact that Lindsay is jsut totally crazy that has made her lose her appeal. lol.

My gosh, of course! Lindsay Lohan...
Once a goddess, now... Oh, my goodness...
And yeah, turning skinny is one thing, getting crazy is another
But for me, it's more about the looks. I don't really care about a celeb's personality as long as she looks good. I'm not interested in personality, celebrities mainly exist for viewing pleasure, IMO.
Also, consider Sophie Dahl, the former plus-size model:

To me, Sophie used to be absolutely unique in the world of fashion modelling. She would advocate the look that was chubby AND sexy at the same time. Unfortunately, along with her pounds went her appeal.
By the way, I've always had this idea in my mind... Why not set up (here on BZ) some kind of a club of beauty admirers - people who appreciate women as they are? People who oppose the idea of photoshopping to the point where women don't even look like women anymore? People who appreciate real, healthy-looking women regardless of their actual weight? Let's do that! YES, WE CAN! United we stand! ![]()
Yay for Jessica Simpson! Yay for Jennifer Love Hewitt! Yay for Beyonce! Yay for _________________ [fill in the blank]!

How about just: "the beautifullest of all women"?
Maybe we could continue our discussion in the Plus-size women thread?

i like the sound of that
Today's views are sad, the smaller the better, doesn't work for me. For one on most women trying to stay that small, it looks unhealthy. It's one thing if your that way by natural design, but if your built a little bigger, don't try and become what society say's you have to be.
For another, look at the stars from the past, most had figures to speak of, all different shapes and sizes,
and they had no problems getting work or what have you.
Now I believe that how you look will say something about a person. As long as your taking care of one's self physically, weather your
rail thin or on the plus size. Just don't let one's self go just cause you want to be lazy.
A balance on what's inside and what's outside I believe is a big key to it all.

way to GO WOLF, being healthy on the inside & out is the key
Just take care of the body and mind. For me that is the hottest quality of any woman.
Petite to plus size, I've dated many in that range. and that's the main thing I look for in any woman.

Good point. Marilyn Monroe was no skinny girl for sure. Raquel Welch, Jayne Mansfield, Anita Ekberg... All curvy and plain gorgeous ![]()
Well, I guess that the so-called "standards of beauty" tend to change with times... And the time of more chubby women is bound to come! ![]()
good point, Wolf and Q
right on about Marilyn. She was a gorgeous woman and had an awesome figure. Much like Kim KArdashian in my view. Now that woman has a body that just takes my breath away. i love her curves and the nice behind.

Oh yeah, Kim's got an AMAZING body and ABSOLUTELY unrivaled butt.
In a way it all boils down to this:
Take care of your self mind and body and if your body looks like Marilyn, Jayne Mansfield,
Kim Kardashian, Mariska Hargitay Law & Order SVU (Jayne's Daughter), then so be it, and who cares what other think.
Curves are great and hot.
And I can only really speak for myself, it's only when you get lazy or don't care enough to take care of your self,
that's when the weight or lack there of becomes a problem to most of us.
exactly Wolf. there is a diff between being a full figured or even plus size, and being obese. being jsut obese and severly overweight can lead to various health problems.
but just being youself and not starivg to death so you can be a size 1 is jsut as unhealthy.
I think, like we are saying, girls like MArilyn or Kardashian or Hagerty, Sophia Loren, Maureen O'Hare or Doris Day are the ones that really looked the hottest, as they had a great figure to them and were jsut eye catching
