This is getting out of control, I am looking to see if i can patch our ipb 2.3x with some sort of question/answer before we upgrade to 3.1 as we are not ready for teh upgrade.

Ok I went ahead and added a question answer to the registration:

Are you Human: yes/no

hopefully *fingers crossed* it will help somewhat. Let me know if you notice a difference! I shall start banning all those users and IPs.

Done.... they are all registered under mail.ru I almost feel liek deleting all 200 members from that email address from Jan 5th->today. Any thoughts?

Xing fingers! What about the earlier suggestion you had re: replacing inactive administrators by promoting some Mods? I nominated 3 when you made that suggestion: Lady Fatale, SympathysSilhouette, and Joe>Average.

I vote yes to banning them all , or the email address itself, whichever works best for you.

Ok I spent a while tonight cleaning up some members posting spam. And after a lot of looking I decided to wipe everyone with a mail.ru email address from Jan 1st onward. 192 members in all, hopefully we didnt take out to many members but I doubt any were legit.

Well that good to hear. The ones that are of main concern are the ones registered after Jan 18th around like 3pm PST. Those are the ones that are bypassing the new question/answer one. I shall continue looking today for more complex question/answer type things.
