Ｉ have the spam integration with StopForumSpam 99% complete. I need to finish up a few more tests tomorrow and I shall get it inplace. I had to scrap my original real time solution as I could not get it working, now it will be at the top of every hour I shall pull the list and load it up. Hopefully that will be good enough to catch 90+% as it takes them about 1.5->3hours to get to us looking at the ones that have posted here vs when they were reported at StopForumSpam.

We shall see what happens at the turn of the hour, hopefully I didn't break anything. Let me know if you feel spam decreases after this point.

hmmm interesting. I found 7 members with that IP all pushing that spam. Also that IP is in our DB I dont know why they were not blacklisted immediatly. Perhaps another bug....*goes to investigate*

hmm so that IP was banned at 01 / 28 / 11 @ 11:07:51am PST but I already deleted them so I dont know when they registed perhaps they posted before that time? Everything else looks ok...

K so i deleted all thier topics and deleted the memeber. I checked StopForumSpam and sure enough their IP and email was in there but they had added a dot (.) to their email so it was not being detected. I have a suspicion as to why the IP ban is not working as it should but it may be a bug at the IPB level not the script I wrote.

I think what is happening is the following, when you register your IP is not checked only your email and username against the DB, your IP is checked when you actually log in. But the first time you register you get a link in your email to confirm your email and when you click it you are automatically logged in, I think on that page there are no IP checks so the spammer can bypass our IP block. That is just a suspicion so tomorrow I shall ban my IP and try to reproduce the issue (its almost 1am now).

Here is a bot spammer to delete. Don't know if it is programmed to do this, but I delete spam and return to the forum and more spamming from this bot spammer reappears. Had to go through process 3 times, before spamming stopped. Arrrrrgh!
