See that's one of those videos where I think it's quite a funny fake trailer, but they actually made it for real. How do they ever expect the humour of that to be sustained for longer than a few minutes?

Same thing with this one I saw a little while back.. I can't believe they actually made this movie too:

Robert Rodriguez pulled it off with Machete though

^I remember seeing that trailer before! Yeah, The FP's been made - they released a brief version of it in 2007 in order to encourage funding. It seems it's deadly earnest too, like Step Up and that sort of shit. I do hope at some point though everyone involved took a long, hard look at themselves and either laughed or cried... Machete was self-aware at least.

Very clever ads too! (Y)

^ never really thought of boobmoles as a feature (for lack of a better term ) but now you mention it. It does have a cuteness factor involved in it

Indeed. I think it was coined by SS in fact

"SS" meaning what exactly

One thing that's funny to me about talking to casual fans about the NFL is their reaction to the dynamic of "sneaking in" to the playoffs . That is of course due to the dynamic of 32 teams with 16 games (to try to minimize the influence of injuries on playoff outcomes). When you get to saying "this team nees this team to lose or tie to get in" the expression on people's face is priceless . Of course, I don't really get much into that myself. Even if its my team, if they barely miss then I usually feel they deserve to . I think in the AFL there are 18 teams with 20 regular season games if I'm not mistaken? Does that cut down on the potential for that? Obviously in basketball, they play 82 games so its never an issue.

Also, though you've done a good job not to come off that way so much and I don't know whether its different in Australia or not, but do Australian fans have the reputation as being snobs? I know a lot of the ones I know over here make classical prudes seem down to earth at least . That's not to say they're any worse than metal or punk fans who think even acknowledgeing anything else being halfway decent is doing you a favor somehow :| .

Yeah, there's 18 teams as of this year. There's a new one just starting up in the comp in 2012, and there was another one introduced last year too. Prior to that, there'd been 16 teams for a fair while. At the end of the season, the top 8 teams progress to the finals, which take place over 4 weeks. I'd say more often than not, the top 8 sides are usually foreseeable some weeks from the end of the season, with perhaps the last couple of places in contention - although last year it was really tight for some reason. The ladder positions from about 6-15 were all kind of up in the air from week to week.. so there's often a bunch that are 'lucky' to just sneak in. Regardless, it's really rare for a team to take out the premiership from outside the top 4 spots. It's still a big thing pushing for that top 8 though, since finals experience is invaluable, especially for young teams still in development.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by snobs? In a "my team is better than your team" way, or in a my sport is better than your sport way?

My brain rejected the fact that such a thing exists - so I´m just gonna send you something beautiful instead of shouting about insanity of that... that... thing.

So, donny, this is Vika Levina. Any thoughts?
