I actually like the word "guilty pleasure"
^I just think it's unnecessary when it comes to something dependent on one's own taste. Deep-fried banana and peanut-butter sandwiches ARE a guilty pleasure - as something that calorific is liable to kill you with sustained use (as Elvis should probably have noted); seeing people slip up on ice IS a guilty pleasure - as it's funny to you but I'm sure it hurt the 'slipper' physically (as well as being highly embarrassed).
Have you been listening to anything interesting lately that you'd like to share, recent or otherwise? <_<
^Nothing in that kind of category! Of course I've been listening to the new Big Pink album as well as The Strange Boys. At the moment though I'm on a Cramps bender - not sure what's prompted this aside from a cover version of Human Fly doing the rounds on a UK car advert... 973png.gif

You're right about the technical side of her vocals, but her voice is still one of the most beautiful and haunting thing to my ears. I've seen her perform live about eight times, give or take, and she never ceases to amaze me.

I'm glad you're liking her music

I just saw Kimbra last weekend too, talking of her.. front and center

Yeah, haunting is a great way to describe it . Her voice has a haunting quality but its sweet at the same time. On the subject of one may have this technical quality, I also find that Pilkington guy kindof pulling ahead for me in their little trio. I haven't seen enough of him to say he's as versatile of a talent as Rick is with the writing and standup and I haven't even seen him act either, but just hearing him talk about random things and especially on that Idiot Abroad show, he just has me laughing out loud and kindof uncontrollably .

He's hilarious, but I wouldn't call him versatile at all - he's just who he is, which is where the humour comes from. But in fairness to him, he's not really a comedian or writer, nor would he claim to be. Ricky and Steve just sort of dragged him along into this life from their radio days

I think they're all funniest when they're together and playing off each other though

Just replayed through Bioshock and playing Bioshock 2 for the first time today.

So fun

Do you like Bioshock 2 better or worse than the first so far?

Bioshock Infinite is going to blow my face off. I've been holding my breath with anticipation for that game for more than a year

Not being able to refill your eve when ever you want is REALLY annoying.

The story line I love It's a lot harder then Bioshock 1 though But if i had to pick...

Iunno, Bio 2 had so many amazing things to it, Bio 1 when you compare back i just liked the motions of doing everything a lot better felt smoother (taken into account you are in a big daddy suit) and overall, but probably Bio 2 if i had to pick it's more of a challenge i feel overall.

And yay Infinite can't wait

I find him more hit than miss

I suppose he can ramble a little, but I like his stand-up a lot, as well as his songs. He speaks a lot of truth, and also talks a lot about things that I think about. As you said though, some of his songs like the one you posted are pure brilliance, especially in the way he uses language. He's also an incredible pianist on top of all that too.

Have you seen him live before? I saw a one-man show of his a few years back, and then last year saw that show he toured with a symphony orchestra, which was pretty extraordinary.

Also, did you see that song he did for the Jonathan Ross show over Christmas, which ended up being cut from the show? He was pretty pissed about that :|

I think overall I probably liked the first one better because it had more memorable (and brilliant) characters, and also I guess just because it was more fresh, being your first taste of the world of Rapture.

Bioshock 2 had a more refined and fluid combat system though, as you'd expect - dual wielding weapons and plasmids was a perfect thing to introduce. Also, I know a lot of people hated it, but I actually really enjoyed the sections where you had to protect your little sister while she harvested. Mini turrets = win (Y)

I loved Bioshock 1. I never even finished Bioshock 2...

How come?

Great song. I wonder why the cut it

<_<

Jonathan and his wonderful producer, Suzi, have been incredibly supportive of me and so when they asked me to write a song for their pre-Christmas show, I didn’t hesitate. It was the worst possible time to be writing a new song – I’ve been overworked and ill, was on tour, and was really feeling the stress. But I wasn’t going to say no… it’s Jonathan Ross! And my fellow guests were to be Tom Cruise, the divine actors from Downton Abbey, and the ace Inbetweeners boys.

...

Subsequently, Suzi and her team edited the show and everybody was happy. Suzi felt it had a nice balance of big-ticket celeb action, local talent, and a nice bit of that cheeky, iconoclastic spirit for which Jonathan is known and widely loved.

And then someone got nervous and sent the tape to ITV’s director of television, Peter Fincham.

And Peter Fincham demanded that I be cut from the show.

He did this because he’s scared of the ranty, shit-stirring, right-wing press, and of the small minority of Brits who believe they have a right to go through life protected from anything that challenges them in any way.

Yesterday I wrote a big rant about comedy and risk and conservatism; about the fact that my joke has no victim; about sacredness (oh God, not again!) and about the importance of laughing at dumb but pervasive ideas. But I trashed it because it’s boring and takes it all too seriously. It’s hardly the end of the world.

But I have to admit I’m really fucking disappointed.

It’s 2011. The appropriate reaction to people who think Jesus is a supernatural being is mild embarrassment, sighing tolerance and patient education.

And anger when they’re being bigots.

Oh, and satire. There’s always satire.

Anywaaaaaaaaaay… the fun news is that I already had the footage of the song when they cut it. Yay. And so you can decide for yourself how offensive it is! Yippee.

It was

I was so stoked at the lineup, and how all my favourites were all on the one stage - I got there early and planted myself dead center in the front row

Anna Calvi - she was absolutely flawless

Chairlift - they were actually pretty amazing. I didn't really appreciate how good and unique Caroline's voice was until I saw them live

Laura Marling - what more can be said

Feist - I was a little surprised at some of her omissions, but she smashed it. She had her 'rock' face on, much more so than the last time I saw her

Austra - great set

Pajama Club (new band of Neil Finn & his wife) - first time hearing their music, and it was fantastic. Neil is a fucking legend

The Panics - great set too

Some simple things I want out of my internet experience.

5. A free image host that allows me to post full sized pics without deleting them randomly. I think someone suggested some to me once, but I forgot what and where.

4. I want either a video site witouth spotlight or trending videos or to figure out how to get rid of them. I come on the internet with what I want in mind to get in and out. I don't want suggestions of how to use up more time and quite frankly, I don't care for most of the suggestions anyway. 0.o

3. I want to get rid of the search suggestions. I thought it was awesome at first, but even though I type fast, I'd like to go back to being able to typ jelly bean without seeing or thinking about Justin Beiber .

2. In light of the one before last, an image search without themes or trending pics would be good .

1. So far Tin Eyes's been pretty good for the reverse pic search thing, though I wouldn't mind an alternative. I tried Google's and it didn't really work for me. Of course, I try to avoid google because I somewhat resent their never ending quest to conquer the internet. At least their plan to overtake facebook didn't succeed. Speaking of such, if I'm not mistaken Bono's a billionaire now because of his initial investment in facebook. He's given a lot to charities so he's good for it if it had to be a singer I'd say.

I've seen a few of those reverse image searches before, but I've never had need for one. What sort of situation do you use it in? <_<
