Haha, awesome. Is that Fabiana?
^
Yeah, all that stuff I put down to his incredible knowledge of language and other cultures, and the main reason for him being on board. Do you have a more specific theory of how we had all that innate understanding of how the alien gizmos worked? He's certainly an enigma, in any event
It's not explained. He can read the alien language. I also think he sees certain types of algorithms where humans can't. For instance, when he watches the engineer recording he immediately remembers the flute passkey and seems to, all at once, deductively understand the alien controls just by watching them. Human beings are morons in certain ways compared to him, and he knows that.....Anyway, the writer who created him did a good job in making him unfathomable and complicated. oh, and his knowledge of the door passwords is also a total mystery to me.
Another weird thing that I remember: What was up with the moving ceiling, and why did Shaw bug out when she saw it? I remember she saying 'We have to leave..'. Besides moving images on the ceiling..being very creepy, what's the signficance of all of that? Why did the ceiling move? LOL, another riddle. Did she just bug out or did she see something else? Later on, she has no problem going back into the room with the rest of the crew. The ceilings aren't moving.
Why do the containers leak after the explorers get close to them? Another mystery.

Also, another weird thing about David:
Was it just me or while David's watching the Lawrence of Arabia movie, he seems to have white and dark brown hair, The two sides of his head are white, and his top is brown. There's a few passing shots of him with that hairdoo. Then it switches to David combing his hair in front of the mirror and chanting "the trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts..." Now his hair is blonde. So he dyed it? That's what I saw during my theater viewing. Or was it a glare and my eyes were playing tricks on me?
Don is following Xenia's topic?
When did this happen?
Just yesterday. I thought I'd actually subscribed earlier, but I guess not. She's really growing on me though
Yay! Glad she is growing on you!
Not literally of course, but you know what I mean! ![]()
^You wrote to me on my thread, and never came back - and then when I mentioned it again on donbot's thread you blanked me here too!
What'd I do, Danni? What'd I do: http://www.bellazon....20#entry2907378
Ah, I'm sorry Barron!
I never really come to this side of BZ and I never really read all the posts posted here on Don's thread! Again... Forgive me! ![]()

Flavia Lucini. I might have added a couple of freckles ![]()
It's still an interesting formation though ![]()

I don't know, but there was a lot about the scenes in that room that were reminiscent of the egg chamber scene in the original. I kind of wish they'd kept that blue mist proximity alarm thing protecting the eggs, but there was presumably something similar that triggered the urns to sweat. Dunno if the ceiling had anything to do with that
Didn't notice the hair thing at all
More and more I feel like I really need to see this movie again

Oh, that's interesting. I never knew that. I've haven't seen Alien in ages.
I think I got some inroads to this riddle:
http://img651.images...10/georgeft.jpg
This is Giger's Mural, and Charlie visibly inspects it while they're in the Big Head Room. If you look at the bottom corners, it's obviously depicting the Squid thing and (probably) engineers. In the center, there's a mural of the shark alien that bursts out of the engineer's chest. So I'm thinking that David saw this mural, saw the obviously human-like figures, and figured out the meaning somehow based on his 'cultural' knowledge. 'Big things have small beginnings'. He sees, while inspecting the head, that the Engineers look like bigger versions of homo sapiens. At the same time, Shaw and the lab scientists discover that the Engineers and humans have the same DNA. So he poisons Charlie out of sociopath style curiosity, perhaps thinking that the substance was some sort of alien seed that would transform him somehow. Weyland further goads him 'Try harder'. He absorbs the directive without regard for context. He asks Charlie for his consent 'Will you be willing to do anything to find your answers?' Charlie consents. David, now armed with Charlie's consent, then gives him the 'seed'....
The predominant emotion of David8 seems to be sheer curiosity. He seems to be designed to relentlessly 'discover'. He is, however, limited in the way that he's programmed to follow orders (Weyland's orders and, during the intro film, Weyland delegates command authority to Charlie/Elizabeth Shaw). So if these three individuals give him an order, he will follow it. But David8 is also self-conscious, is in emotional pain, desires freedom, considers humans to be inferior, and knows how to override his own programming by tricking Charlie to giving him an out-of context answer, so to speak.
So David8 goes ahead with experimenting on Charlie.
After his decapitation and the destruction of Prometheus, he relentlessly tries to ensure the survival of the sole survivor, Elizabeth Shaw out of self interest. David's first proposal is to pilot the Alien ships and 'find a path to Earth'. I am supposing that survival and a new body now takes priority over his former curiosity. Elizabeth then surprisingly vetos his offer, and orders him to 'go to where they came from'. I remember that shot of David- he pauses for about two seconds, there's a solemn emotional change, and he says 'Yes, I believe I can'. Then he tries to convince Shaw out of it: 'Why are you going? why do you want to know why (the engineers) changed their minds? The answers are irrelevant'. He clearly wants to go back to earth, but he is programmed to obey orders.
Whew, anyway, that's how I see it the whole David thing.

Since the whole SJ story is based on mythology (said Scott), I'm supposing that the engineers are supposed to fit somewhere into some sort of convoluted, bizarre god-story that is simply outside of our rational comprehension.
And My goodness, this movie is so incomprehensible! Kind of tired of talking about it, myself. Nevertheless I believe that every major corner has been covered! Curiosity satisfied

I have a feeling I do have them in storage somewhere.. I don't remember ever throwing them out
My walls used to be covered - mostly with my drawings, as well as posters and pictures of cars, motorbikes, cartoons and all sorts of other crap.

and which cartoons did you like the most?

^The victorious World Cup '86 Argentina squad and Jane Seymour in Live And Let Die were my first pin-ups!Stucking things on the wall, oh yeah
I had mostly my paintings or dolphins or cats or models stuck on my wall
how about you?

Thank you Andy for the link, I´ll check it thorougly. So many riddles! When I came home from the cinema, my mind was absolutely blank, now it´s more and more full of questions and (thanks to you) answers as well.

Well now
I recognise those little guys in the corners from Giger's original Facehugger concept
The one in the middle also looks very "Alien xeno" too, although it could indeed also be the shark xeno.
Curiouser and curiouser

Sadly not <_<
Mostly the ones I've mentioned already, especially The Simpsons and Ren & Stimpy ![]()
But there were lots, at different stages, like Inspector Gadget, Astroboy, Danger Mouse, X-Men, TMNT, Thundercats, He-Man, the list goes on ![]()

Woah,
That's an engineer. I think that the Xenomorph is probably a different version of the 'seed'. Human woman to Queen, Queen lays eggs, egg creates facehugger, facehugger creates the Xenomorph, In Prometheus, it's goo. Goo infects woman (perhaps even through mere touching or digestion?) , woman to squid, squid to shark xeno. Engineers are interchangable with Humans due to DNA match.
check this out: The concept art for the Fifeld (he's supposed to turn into a monster of sorts, shedding his humanity). There is also a picture of the adult shark-xeno. So that's the creature..

thanks Jennka, I'm glad that I entertained. Prometheus is the type of film for two viewings and the US cam rip appeared so I used it to discover answers
But I still wouldn't mind watching Prometheus a second time in theaters.

Oh, and I just thought up another one. While the Prometheus arrives and flies over the planet, David mysteriously says "There is nothing here in the desert, and no man needs nothing." When Weyland dies, he says "There's nothing. Nothing." David responds: "I know, have a good journey, Mr. Weyland." I wonder what was the significance of that? Another riddle.
If one googles prometheus virals on youtube, it is clear that all of them center around David and his character. I think that the key to understanding this film better is to understand David better, and why he does what he does and why he says what he says.

Sadly not <_<

Absolutely agree. I think that it is vital to understand what David means with every sentence he tells - he´s a robot, he never talks crap - every and each of his word is a riddle, has it´s meaning. I think it´s vital to see the movies he´s seen, or read the literature
maybe he refers to some cultural references, literature that can explain something

For me, it was mostly footballers and superheroes on the wall. I also really liked birds (not a slang term) when I was younger so I had a big poster of my favourite bird, a peregrine falcon, as well as this huge map of the world which I distinctly remember staring at for ages - probably far longer than was healthy.
Then I got a bit older and music stuff pretty much took over. ![]()

Haha, hope nothing was spoiled'. It's a film full of riddles; I haven't had so much fun with a film in years.
Unfortunately I still haven't had a chance to see it, but I've been quite lucky so far. The plot was shrouded in such secrecy beforehand, I think maybe it's aided me in avoiding spoilers. ![]()
New album is fantastic - she doesn't know how to disappoint. This one is so beautiful
Not sure how interested you are, but I'm busting in anticipation of Fiona Apple's imminent release too
:chicken:
Weirdly enough, until I checked out the song you posted in 'Music of 2012' I'd never knowingly heard her music (Fiona that is, not Regina
). I like her sound though and feel like investigating further.
