It's been a long while!

I almost only played multiplayer team games. The basic tactic for most games I played together with my usual partner was for me to focus on infantry (mostly Rangers) and he on tanks.

I would take the positions with my infantry and he would then fortify and hold them with his tanks. Rince and repeat.

COD is a funny game. It reminds me of those table top wargames that old American and British men play just to show off their military knowledge and paint figurines.

I beat the Demo AI on so-called 'Expert' mode fairly easily.

At least from the vs. AI perspective, the Americans are pretty underpowered and Airborne and Blitzkrieg doctrine are noticeably better than the other doctrines. I assume that real multiplayer is different.

The CGI is really quite good for a game, and resembles the work that Weta did for Avatar. I looked at the concept art and was favorably impressed. The gameplay itself is bad imho, and the main character is intentially unlikable (though I don't know why) & resembles an urban street thug rather than a Greek 'God of war'.

The God of War series has by far the best spectacularly cinematic and grandiose action sequences in gaming. It's really rather beautifully pure game design too, and while they didn't really do much different in each successive game, they continued to tweak and pushed everything to the boundaries of their defined scope and created a really refined experience by the third game.

With the Assassin's Creed series, there's a slight stench of the cash cow being milked, but they must throw a ridiculous amount of resources at it to get a game churned out every year, because they are generally quality games with an impressive amount of content. The second game (and it's two pseudo-sequels released before III) had a much more interesting and engaging protagonist, but as with GOW each one tends to get more refined with tighter gameplay. I'm quite interested in the new one coming out later this year :capt:
