I remember it from my childhood too, can't remember anything about it though. Dumbo was pretty cool too.

the tv show and the movies.  Dumbo was good too.  The thing I remember was liking the idea of going outside to speak to the animals.  Also Pooh was really chill and fun.  I liked Tigger too.

my most valuable possession was a pooh bear stuffed animal as a child.

yes, the pooh's head is much bigger than any human head.  I have both now on my sofas, along with other plush animals.

was Dumbo your favorite?

nice comment.  I am going to finish listening to this tonight.  It is only 2:43 long

My personal vision of Poohism : Pooh Bear is what I call the Cuddly Warrior of Children's Lit, who solves problems not with brute force, but his kind heart and his very small brain, who uses harmony with others instead of harming others, and in this wise he "kicks ass " more than Robin Hood, Long John Silver, King Arthur and Conan the Barbarian combined. Or: in the words of one Chinese philosopher (Bruce Lee, no less!) he fights without fighting, and has changed the world by challenging popular consensus of what maketh a man, or what we would call reality. Is it weird to call him a Cuddly Warrior? That's why some of us love the odd. And that, friends, should make us even. Honey, not vinegar, is what does it! Love Always! Pooh-sciples rule!

"As the eighteenth century turns into the nineteenth, however, the notion of the redemptive lie or salutary fi ction swims gradually into view. Perhaps human beings would simply perish of the truth, withering beneath its remorseless glare. Maybe fi ctions and myths are not just errors to be dispelled, but productive illusions which allow us to thrive."

"Like the humanities in general, such myths can be said to contain their own kind of truth, one which lies more in the consequences they produce than in the propositions they advance. If they allow us to act with a sense of value and purpose, then perhaps they are true enough to be going on with.

Finished the audio  of "Tao of Pooh".  It is very, very similar to the teaching stories of Daoist philosopher Zhangzi except that, instead of Chinese contexts, it is placed within the 100-acre wood.

Pooh is the "uncarved block", the living embodiment of the dao.  I can see now why it's a classic.

Oversized stuffed animals are awesome.

Mmm not really, I remember having The Lion King and Duck Tales characters, but they were a lot smaller than yours.

Remember this show?

yes- I enjoyed watching Duck Tales as a kid.  They used to do reruns a lot.

The Disney store used to have great plush dolls- good quality and generally a little expensive.  Now it's low quality and low price.  The dolls look deformed.  Their poohs look terrible!

Seneca:  Sometimes acquiring things that one had desired reveals their unimportance.  To those they have them, they are small .  They were only a rung on a ladder.  Possession changes how we feel about objects of our desires.

all desires are a type of poverty

those that instigate desires in others may have well robbed them.

Avarice, ambition,  and fear of death conquered the greatest conquers of the world.
