Hmmph, I have looked at it a bit now; while it is fantasy it is quite different in style compared to witcher. I am entirely new to such things so I don't know about the other stuff. What do you like most about it?
I was actually going to rant about it.
I loved the first two games, especially the first one.
But they further reduced what is possible within the leveling system.
I guess this is done to make it more console-friendly?
I finished watching "Hearts of Stone" (first out of two expansions of Witchery 3) It's really good- the story is basic off of classic polish folklore. There's a good soundtrack and the writing/voice acting was gripping with effective pacing & sense of mystery. Good artwork. I highly recommend it:
This is also the only game where I have seen a medieval wedding party being depicted.
It's BioWare so the writing and the production values are both top notch.
The issue is the leveling system in the third game. This was already more limited than in say "The Witcher" in the two first games.
But they took it even further in the latest installment.

What is the most interesting part of DA? There is too much content for me to sift through. In looking at the stuff, I have to say that it seems like hard core fantasy and being a newbie it's more difficult to draw me in like the more classic folklore/fantasy/medieval themes. I don't know what's going on.

Story-telling and the wide variety of dialogue options depending on the background and class of the character you play, as well as how you interact with your party members.

Yea, I noticed that DA is actually more extensive in this area than the more focused 'witcher'. So the player has more agency in DA, and they control four ? other characters.
The game looks a lot like the mass-effect series- (another one that seems to be hard core sci-fi ). They seem to borrow some similar technology. Many of the characters aren't human and have their own lore that isn't immediately apparent. I need to really "study" these genres to ease my way into them in the future.
The upcoming and much raved "Fallout 4" looks a lot like the tech in witcher 3- their engine probably shares many commonalities.

The "Dragon Age" and "Mass Effect" series have the same developer (BioWare).
Hence why they share game mechanics in spite of being in vastly different genres.

Ah, I see now: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioWare
I took a look at Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and it uses the same stuff, as well. It's quite a big franchise.

The original KOTOR is one of the greatest RPGs ever imho.
If you don't mind the slightly dated graphics, you should check it out.

do you have anything else you like? not just this genre, but others included. I am interested in Fallout 4 and the second expansion for the witcher.

Same thing for alliances with Russia-what do you see as the benefits of friendship?
Between Russia and France there had a quite long tradition of cultural exchange, and i don't Russia as an enemy to be honest ...
I could ask the same with China and the US, only about money ?

Basically commerce (China is effectively the manufacturing base, while also a consumer of US trade)
Oh yes, pre-communism, russian nobility also spoke french ;-p

How about during the cold war?

I loved Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. But I assume you played those already?
Saints Row 4 is fun if you like funny, over the top games.

I must admit that I don't play anything- I just watch it on youtube and skip around & get to the meat of it. I usually watch all the cutscenes and look at the various environments. So regarding the gameplay mechanics I mainly observe rather than use. I am too stressed out, I hope someday I can play some.
I did check out Fallout 3 and NV. I thought Fallout 3 was much better in terms of overall concept, writing, and design. It's a matter of taste it appears. Another related one that I liked was "Metro Last light". I also like "Deus Ex" and am looking forward to the new one.

How about during the cold war?
During the cold war, the relations were less frank and friendly of course, but way less tense than between the US and Soviet Union also ...
Do you know the Farewell affair ? it's very interesting ![]()

Haha, it's movie stuff. No, I haven't heard of it. It reminds me of "The lives of others " (german movie)

A movie ? LOL I don't think so, it's a History fact, but they did some movies or books about it ... You didn't know that ?

I meant, it's stuff worthy enough for film- ![]()

Oh yes ! Definitely ! But i see that as a major fact of the end of the cold war, one of the reason of the fall of the Berlin wall perhaps ![]()

^^Interesting, either I have forgotten that or it was one of those things skipped over in US general history!
On a Halloween note, here is SOMA. I pity those who play it, LOL. They'll get nightmares. The concept is quite disturbing- deceased human beings trapped in robot bodies and TV monitors. :

Let's talk about the next VS fashion show? anyone?
Vita got in- and apparently trimmed down to the VS physique..
