I hate to sound like a generation traitor , but R&B really is going down the drain . The male side is less talented than ever both vocally and instrumentally and the little talent that is left is overshadowed by rap.

On the female side its more about looks than talent now. For every Jill Scott, Beyonce, Alicia Keys there's 20 Ashantis now. And I know you might say "but you love Rihanna" I do, but that's not what she started as. She started more Raggae which is more about rhythm and groove and the accent itself more than technical voice, but she was moved by her management to Pop R&B to appeal to a bigger audience...though I partially regret this because its largely muffled her accent in her songs in comparisson .

But anyway, its so much more about looks than talent that the quality of the music has suffered. Not meaning to bring a dark cloud .

I agree with you too Matt. Don't know of any newer acts that can handle soul with any sense of conviction. There's no passion in the voice - compared to the absolute awesomeness of, say, Otis Redding. You listen to Cigarettes & Coffee and he makes you want to bawl your eyes out...

Ya i can teach you it's not that hard once you get it you just need a good hour to hour and a half to really grasp the basics. It's no problem (I'm not super advanced in it yet, but I can do most of the stuff you probably would want an animated gif to do)
