So, Joe - I've been meaning to ask... What is the deal with basketball anyway?

I've given it a try, but it just isn't working for me. Well, not until the end.

I even went to an NBA game when I was living in the States (it was the Utah Jazz - if that explains my puzzlement?).

So couldn't it just last the one quarter?

Am I doing it wrong?

Baron, I forgot which page I posted my top 10 sports on, but I'm pretty sure basketball isn't in the top 5 . I love it in ways...but I in no way think its good enough to convince someone else that its good . On top of that, most of my favorite players are centers, who the average fan thinks is probably the most borring (I'm not easily wooed if you will...by the average flashy perimeter player that some are so taken with ) .

For example, when a guard "shakes" a defender. I'm not knocking the skill envolved I suppose...but to me I find shaking someone who's trying to hit or at least grab you more relevant of an "escape" because they have more ways to "get" you. Sure handling the ball adds an interresting dimension to shaking said defender...but the defender is still very limited in what he can do to you and every couple of years rules are passed to penalize contact from defenders or wing players more and more and thus increasing this issue. And even in soccer, there is no or limited legal contact so to speak, but the field itself is so large and the defense is so wide, that "shaking" people is even more interresting to me there and it seems simply getting to the other side of the world with the ball is a feat in itself . Sorry if that doesn't help .

Amazing, I've always wanted a good breakdown of what those numbers really meant . You should probably put that under the pictures on "PERSPECTIVES" .

I was thinking points like in the "Best Model of 2008" sense of points, but not exactly the same. Since this competition is head to head

and the "oh, its so hard, 10 for both" ... could make it too close. Whereas in one at a time competitions 1-10 is the best. But then again...it seems only the hardcore fans of said model seem to throw out 10s like fruitcake...so maybe highest average will work for head to head too
