we're both fluent in french but it's easy for me

Flemish is my mother tongue. Other than English, I can get by in French. I understand some German. But I won't speak it myself, out of fear of making a total fool of myself.

I'm half Italian, so I speak the Italian my father does, but my mom is French-Canadian, and her parents are both French, so I grew up with three languages all the time... I always figure that's unusual, but then I come to a board like this, where we're all speaking pretty good English, but there are dozens of native languages

i can speak spanish too... i love to speak english but i think it's frustrating to HAVE to speak it, all the more when talking to ppl who speak french

It's one of the advantages of the huge power of anglo-saxon culture all over the world: we have a true Lingua Franca again in English.
