Only 18 but what a career for her as of late. I was completely floored when her first VS mainline pics came out. I couldn't help but see how much sexier and refined her look was compared to many of the VS veterans...including Lima ![]()
And as far as age goes...I just love this quote below from a member of another forum:
It's funny how people are so bent up on age. Don't forget, it is simply a legal thing. In our society at 18 people magically become adults. At 17, they are still children. Of course, just 2 centuries back 13 year olds were adults, and not that long ago Alexander the Great led a huge army and conquered his first city at the age of 16. Hence, don't worry too much about age, the girl is legal and that's all there is to it.

^ Barbs is definitely a great model. No doubt about that.
Back then 13 y/os were considered adults b/c that's the age most people are capable of procreating and educational standards were different.
BTW, Alexander The Great did not conquer his first city at age 13. Him and his father, Philip II, defeated Athens when ATG was 18. He didn't start campaigning and conquering until he was about 20 after his father died. I know all this b/c I was a Classics minor in college ![]()
I was just pulling your leg about the "barely 18" thing
She is of age so it is all good. Even if she wasn't, I might have my opinions but I wouldn't be too harsh of a critic. Too each their own ![]()

Something tells me that poor chap was siting references from Wikipedia when he made that statement I posted
Boy was he on the fence about people labeling Barbara as too young
LOL but ya, I know you were just kidding, to each there own indeed
Now how to conquer the world at just the age of 20 something today...any ideas? ![]()

...Guess we'll close it up soon as it is not the most pleasant or relevant topic to talk about anyway...![]()
I think we should move on to more important topics like Kim and Kanye's relationship or the specie of Snooki's baby!
Anyways, how have you been?
Oh hi Pink, I'm fine.
I was half hoping that that particular topic would end, LOL.

It seems the recipe for conquering the world at twenty-something is to go to college (preferable somewhere east) then after a year or so drop-out! (Y)
Damn it, I feel like a dumbass for spending 18 years in school ![]()

Who/what are you referring to? :-p
Hello ThereLOL

I'm sure that the 'philosophical/strategic musings' of a teenage spoiled brat was 'decisive' in this 'trying' ancient battle, LOL. Like the 'Dear leader' of North Korea was..
How much do you believe? I mean, in the way ancient history is presented by historians in the ages of Alexander and Pompey. Would Marcus Aurelius look back at us and laugh at our fanciful delusions?
My historical eye rests more on context: leadership composition, power structures, organization, processes, and environment.
I don't trust history composed pre-1930s. I find the quality of history research to be wanting due to limitations in record-keeping, analysis and data gathering of prior time periods. The historical record gets much more reliable only starting from the 1970s.

Guys like Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, and Ted Turner.
Hello Pink, so you have thick skin. I wasn't completely sure at the time. That's good
Cool, so you really want to know:
- Made a good amount of money this quarter shorting and covering the securities of several companies. My eyeballs almost started bleeding (figuratively) after scanning the xth boring document
![]()
- I discovered that I have a 'dry eye' problem. My tear ducts aren't creating enough tears and I have to use eyedrops everyday for the rest of my life..It's a side effect of a pharmaceutical I used for my skin last winter..
I would like to think of it as having tact and knowing when it is time to drop a discussion especially when there is no absolute answer.
Of course I want to know. Why would I ask if it didn't?
Congratulations on making "a good amount of money"
I know you worked hard for it. I hope you got yourself something special ![]()
I have a dry eye problem when I wear contacts. I have to put lubricating drops into my eyes before and every hour or my eyes would sting ![]()
Do you have the same problem with your eyes stinging when they are dry? ![]()

Have you read "What Is History?" by Edward Hallett Carr? Great book but redundant. The first 20 pages sums up his whole point. Anyways, it touches upon some of the points you made ![]()

No, I haven't. Truth be told, I like your book recommendations and have examined each and every one. But I don't have a liberal arts education. Whatever I know about history or other cultural subjects is continuously self-taught or personally theorized :-p
So keep the recommendations coming :]

Guys like Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs,
They cornered an industry using a specially developed ecological environment (silicon valley/Stanford University/federal funding). This environment was born out of history, government, and all American wars in the 20th century. Its seeds were planted as early as WW1 and there are no innovation nexuses quite like it.
All of these individuals got Angel investors (and then) Venture capitalists to back them. No VC....... no conventional operational units injected into their idea and no later stage financing. Gates, Dell, Z, and Page/Brin all benefited. But of course, it was the original, special ideas that gave them the ability to tap the related infrastructure in the first place
Gatekeepers, Gatekeepers!!! Ideas, Ideas!!!
And it's kind of sad that only 'Social Media' , greentech, and E-book readers get most of the buzz these days..
I would like to think of it as having tact and knowing when it is time to drop a discussion especially when there is no absolute answer.
I don't know you yet, Pink, so I was unsure of your feelings. I wasn't sure if I was pressing on something unpleasant. I myself like the exchange of views, and it is constructive to me. We, as human beings, are wired to 'Win'! and adapt to our already held convictions/biases, whether right or not in the face of objective reality. The more effort we put into developing these convictions....the stronger we resist. If these convictions are part of our psychology, it is even more solidified!
We resist, and resist strongly, and, if pressured enough, may even become intellectually dishonest! Refuse New Knowledge! Curve-fit!
We forget that there is the 'general case' and then there are 'special cases'. These get confused. I am but only a person, embedded in nature; Then there are larger units, different units, all facing different outcomes.
Of course I want to know. Why would I ask if it didn't?Congratulations on making "a good amount of money"

I don't know, it could've been just manners? I mean, you're not on this thread that much, so I figured...

Thank you And Nope, I don't need to buy goods and services to increase my feelings of self-worth. :-)

Maybe you shouldn't wear contacts? I mean, wear them when you need to, and leave them out at all other times. Or you're doing this already?
My vision blurs when my eyes are dry. Pink eye, too ![]()

I too feel most of the stuff I have "learned" about people and society were from personal experiences and observations. Education just backed up my theories and observations, and provided a foundation.
Will do! (Y)

I hear what you are saying. All the men I mentioned I feel were not only at the right place at the right time and were able to connect with the right people. They were also preconditioned to succeed.
Topics like Social Media, greentech, and E-book readers get most of the buzz these days because it is partially media manipulation and what people would like more information about.

Most discussion that are not superficial and deals with the reality of society are unpleasant. But does that mean we should avoid it? I think avoidance causes bigger issues. Also, we live and learn and one of the ways to do that is by exchanging ideas and experiences.
Another thing about avoidance is it causes misunderstandings and the inability to have deeper and meaningful relationships. If people enjoy having superficial relationships that is fine. I personally prefer not to have that type of relationship because it is disingenuous and often causes bitterness and resentment.
I agree, we are "wired" (and our learnings encourages it) to win. It is such a shame because you cannot always win. Humans are imperfect and to have the illusion we can be is damaging. People sometimes take it is so personally when they are wrong even if it is about something minor. It is overexaggerated as if being wrong means you as a person and your whole existence is wrong.

There are ways to be polite and genuine. Asking someone "how have you been?" is not one of them.
It is not always about self-worth. It is sometimes about rewarding yourself and acknowledging your efforts and how far you have come.

I rarely wear contacts during the week. I usually wear them on the weekends.
I also have similar symptoms. I guess we are lucky to live in a time where there are medications to treat it.

If you are willing to commit white collar crimes you might still have a shot. Or like you said, you can just shit yourself. It has worked very well for VS. They are a multi-million dollar company (Y)

Yes, it's a combination of both, and knowing how to continually manage and improve this type of intelligence
What was the most valuable of the classics or other to you?

Topics like Social Media, greentech, and E-book readers get most of the buzz these days because it is partially media manipulation and what people would like more information about.
It is also a leading indicator of where the 'big money' is flowing and what the 'average joe' is thinking about it. It's a bit depressing because none of it is likely to dramatically improve things over the current business cycle.

Alright then! I know your feelings on that now, I will react accordingly
Yes, avoidance wastes a lot of time in relationships.

People don't like being told that the conclusions that they developed - based on painstaking thought- are inadequate.
It is not always about self-worth. It is sometimes about rewarding yourself and acknowledging your efforts and how far you have come.
You know, most people like that...I don't. I find it..a little disingenuous especially since the future is uncertain and to live for brief moments of 'final victory' is just..to me, rather unfortunate. It's the process that matters, and time expended that is close at hand must be valued. I don't need to give myself a dog biscuit when I don't even need one
Does rewarding yourself work out for you?

What was the most valuable of the classics or other to you?
I enjoyed the Odyssey, Plato’s Republic and Aristophanes’ plays ![]()
People don't like being told that the conclusions that they developed - based on painstaking thought- are inadequate.
That is true however I am not sure how much “thought” some people put into their conclusions. Sometimes people make quick judgments and decisions. Not always a bad thing as it is part of our cognitive wiring and has helped us survive on a basic level. However, sometimes this lack of analysis and consideration can get us in bad situations ![]()

Does rewarding yourself work out for you?
You are right, the future is an uncertainty which is why it is important to “celebrate” each victory. You never will it be your last. Not saying you should buy yourself a lavish gift everytime you “succeed”. Even patting yourself on the back or just acknowledging to yourself you completed a task would suffice ![]()
I try to reward myself when I complete a huge task, but in general I have difficulties with that because I am have challenges with giving myself the credit I “deserve”. I am pretty hard on myself and am often pessimistic. However, I am slowly but surely learning to be easier on myself. It is important to find a balance. Too much or too little of anything is rarely a good thing ![]()

Pink, who are your favorite models? I'd love to know ![]()
