(Y) I'm doin' good. Hope the same for you.

Got to sleep normal, during my time away from here which is good.

Avada, I can't argue with any of that stuff about the Red Wings, it's all true. I am probably the least obnoxious Wings fan myself though. A lot of hate for the rival team is good for you.

Strange thing is they aren't showing a lot of the Wings games here *shrug*, you would think after the strike they would be trying to promote the sport as much as possible, but who knows. Even if I can't watch them I still know they have started good.

I'm not looking forward to the snow, not at all. I know what you mean though, I would start to miss it if I didn't live here anymore, it's the cold really though that I wouldn't miss.

Chicago cut off showing local games last season, or rather the last season we played anyway. I don't know if they picked it back up, but almost everyone I know was having to use satellite and get feeds from other parts of the country to be able to see a game playing in town.

It just started dropping to low eighties and high seventies and people are whining about it being cold. <_< I try not to point out to them that parts of the country are weeks away from being buried under 20 feet of snow.

I've been following Calgary who had a nice start but haven't had a good last couple of games. They beat LA though. Stupid frickin' Coyotoes though I'm not bitter, really.

Just scared the fuck out of some little kids.

God I'm so retarded.

It's bullshit that they cut games off anywhere, the NHL needs the publicity, you think they would be fighting to get as many games on TV as possible. I saw one Wings game this year, and it was on a Premium cable channel, which basically means they got under 250,000 viewers, how the hell is that gonna help the league.

I love it when people from warm climates start to complain when it hits those temps, , it's kinda like when it's been cold all winter, below zero temps, and then the first 35 degree day comes around at the end of winter, and were going outside in shorts. People become accustomed to their climate.

*woot* Detroit beat both the Flames and Coyotes, The Flames deserve it the Coyotes don't, and as usual I didn't get to see either game.

I think it's bad Detroit has started off so well, bad things are gonna start happening I know it.

I don't know the extent of the fanbase for the Blackhawks anymore either. I mean I know there are quite a few people who have been buying season tickets for decades and will keep doing so because it is a) their home team, b) one of the original six or c) the only game in town, but if you're not going to show the local games, and REQUIRE people to go to the games to even be a part of the action, that's going to turn people off. As a group, people are just feckin' lazy, and if they actually have to drive so many miles to see a game, they're not going to bother and will instead watch whatever else they can find on TV. And as for helping the league they're using the players for that, taking a huge chunk of their salary and putting it in escrow. If the team does well, they get it back. If it doesn't, the team keeps it. I suppose it's a thought on getting the players to go "HEY PEOPLE COME TO GAMES" or something.

Which teams like Phoenix needs, not to mention a few other teams ( I think Colombus is in financial trouble too, but I don't pay enough attention) but I don't think I can listen to players whine about it all year.

I remember living in Minnesota and freezing my ass off a good part of the year when they weren't trying to drown us in our own sweat. You don't get that here. And you have people who have NEVER seen snow, and it's like o.O Especially since in the Phoenix area, you drive two hours north of here and find snow in Flag or Prescott. People are stupid.

I'm annoyed with the Coyotes. If only because their management is shitting on the fans. I haven't been paying attention to their stats lately, but they're doing alright I suppose. The fact that Gretzky can actually coach disturbs me a little. And as for the Red Wings...I'm keeping my mouth shut . A player I used to follow (Rivers) is on the Wings now, but that's about all I know. I pretty much keep an eye on whatever team Amonte is on. Because he's my buddy and because I maintain his site. Er, at least I used to when I wasn't buried under a ton of homework anyway. >.>

The season more or less seems to be doing well. Which is a sign that something bad is going to happen everywhere. Another McSorley mess maybe. I don't know. All I know is that this new refereeing is going to drive me nuts.

@OS, I sent you another PM, I think it's the one I sent before, if not, oh well,

I know the Wings games here are always sold out, couldn't get in if I tried, but I think a sizeable chunk of revenue must come from tv, and it seems at least here in Detroit, they don't seem to be taking advantage of it. And your right about people being lazy, if they have to go long distances or to any extra extent to see something, even on tv, they are more likley to do something else or find another channel.

I hadn't heard that they were doing that to the players, seems unfair, though it may work like the carrot on a stick thing in front of the horse, may get them to play their best instead of half assing it. Though it screws over the guys who always give 100%, when the other guys on the team don't suck it up and crank it up a notch to play better. Incentive to make everyone play good at all times, which brings people in. I guess it's a kinda sound theory, Still seems unfair though. I remember hearing that alot of teams were in trouble with attendance a few years ago, outside of the big hockey cities, I'm sure it's probably much worse now, after not having hockey for so long.

You don't get that here. And you have people who have NEVER seen snow, and it's like o.O Especially since in the Phoenix area, you drive two hours north of here and find snow in Flag or Prescott. People are stupid

This is always funny, I wonder why it doesn't work the other way around. I don't think you'll ever see someone from a snowy area go south and marvel at all the sand in amazement. Something I find funny to watch, people from warm states visiting cold states in the winter. You get a mild snow and these people from Florida and Georgia, are driving 3-4 mph , and us natives are exceeding the speed limits in excess.

It's good practice to not get too involved with your rival teams, otherwise you may find yourself with a soft spot for em. I fucking hate the Avalanche by the way, grrrrrr.....

The season does seem to be going well, and for the most part everyone seems happy that there is finally hockey again, and as you said, this is when something bad happens, just when everything looks fine. Who knows though, maybe it's just us being leery about losing hockey again. Cross my fingers nothing bad happens, as well as in hopes they show some damn games in my area.

I only know about it because Roenick is whining about it. And every time he whines, my mom gets about 300 emails and I have to hear about it. This trouble? Never have it with Amonte. Because SOME people know when to shut up. Anyway, from what I remember the 'rent saying, people like JR (Who had 8 mil and went down to...4 and a half? I think) are freaking. They rolled some of it back, and put some in escrow. Not to mention what they did to the poor goalies. The no-playing-the-puck thing is just stupid. And the extra lines on the ice bug me, though I suppose we'll all get used to it eventually.

I'm just glad I don't play anymore, since this is probably trickling down into the smaller leagues. I'd have to kick someone, and the girl who used to goalie on the team I was on would pitch a royal fit.

All I know about, regarding sales is with Calgary and Phoenix. Calgary is sold out for the next five years at least, while Phoenix is having trouble filling seats. Watch a game when they're home and you'll see the place is half empty. Then again, Phoenix isn't exactly a hockey town. Two minor leagues of crashed and burned already.

Oh man, tourists. We get 'snow birds' which are people from Michigan who come down here to escape whatever, and it's usually monsoon season when they're here. So the idiots will drive through washes and get stuck. Yes, it looks like two feet of water. But guess what, it's not. The state charges to rescue them now and you have to wait until the water goes down before they tow your car out. Which you pay a fortune for too.

It gets to the point that by the end of the summer half the town is betting on how many snowbirds will get stuck by the end of the month. I know where a friend of mine works they have a office pool and the winner gets gift certificates to restaurants or something. It's both amusing and very sad.

Rivalries amuse the hell out of me. And half the time it always starts out as something stupid. I can't even remember off hand why Phoenix hates LA and Colorado but we do. Rangers too. Though Red Wings games are always fun since half the arena is filled with red and white jerseys and people get jumped in the parking lot.

I'm just glad I don't have to watch hockey from before I was born, as we were living off ESPN classic and hockey movies (you know it's disney when you're sniffling during a hockey game). Though this OLN or whatever it is network is just stupid. My mom bought NHL Center Ice because all that channel shows is hunting and fishing. HOW they got hockey, gods only know.

These whining guys should just suck it up and live with the fact that this is the way the league is going to be, they should take a note from these more composed players. I mean they are playing a game for a living, how much better could it get, yeah they may be getting dipped in their paychecks ( a 4mil drop is prtty huge), but they are still getting paid to play. Pretty soon those other adjustments to the game will probably just blend right in hopefully. it's always fun to see people score like crazy. The other leagues are probably foloowing suit as you mentioned, I can imagine those people aren't happy about it.

It's difficult to keep a team profitable in a city that doesn't follow hockey, it's too bad for the teams that don't have the benifit of being located in the areas where people are crazy about hockey. Though I think that is probably how most teams started, people probably just need to slowly warm up to it, when they haven't always had it there to enjoy.

I can just imagine these people driving through one of those and trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Their sitting there in their car thinking "How the hell did I get myself stuck in this thing," People going in on a pool over it is hilarious, just a testament to how often it actually must happen. Imagine the rentacar repair bills these people rack up for damages or things like that, I can imagine a tow truck doing messing your car up trying to yank it out of there.

To tell you the truth, I can't remember why exactly we dislike the Avalanche so much here. I would assume it's because we were always just in such close competition with them over the last 7 years or so. But people really get crazy about it sometimes and go a little overboard. The fans enthusiasm at Wings games is great for the team though, it's definitely gotta pump the team up. I remember hearing about an Avalanche fan getting jumped outside Joe Louis Arena here after the game, they may have gone a little far there. It was probably an emotional loss though, or a huge Red Wings blow out, some people will just do it either no matter who wins.

Oh yeah, Hockey is much better now I think, seems weird watching the old stuff on tv. Was just thinking about those Mighty Duck movies after reading that bit above about Disney. Most unrealistic shit ever. OLN, maybe the league offered to let them show it to try and pump the ratings? Though I don't see how that would actually work, I don't think I've ever flipped to OLN. They should be trying to sell their games to the big channels, that will get people watching a little more maybe.
