Routine running for Webber and Coulthard

The second day of this weekend’s test saw both Mark Webber and David Coulthard running similar programmes, based mainly around aero work, suspension development and chassis set-up.

While Webber got through his entire programme, Coulthard was slightly delayed by a couple of minor problems, but still got through almost all of his scheduled work load, with good progress being made on all fronts.

The Red Bull duo would end the day ninth and tenth fastest respectively with three-tenths of a second separating the two.

The weather was a touch milder today although there is a slight chance of rain heading for the track for Sunday’s final day, when both Webber and Coulthard continue with development of RB4.

I Won't Leave Formula One Yet, Vows David Coulthard

SCOTLAND'S F1 driver David Coulthard has dismissed claims he'll head to NASCAR next year.

The 36-year-old, set to begin his 15th season in Grand Prix, recently told US journalists he could see more Europeans being lured to the US series.

But the Red Bull driver insists he has no plans to leave F1 anytime soon and said: "There is never any question about whether I am excited going into the first Grand Prix of the season. I'mcommitted to driving in F1 for the foreseeable future and beyond."

Coulthard: Ferrari, McLaren clearly ahead

Ferrari and McLaren have a clear lead at the head of the Formula One field judging by the results of early testing, claims Red Bull Racing's David Coulthard.

Although teams like Scuderia Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing have been fastest overall on some days of pre-season testing, Coulthard thinks that the fight at the front is just between two teams.

"I think they have an advantage, yes," Coulthard told autosport.com about Ferrari and McLaren's pace. "A big advantage.

"I don't know why they are doing such a good job and why the rest are not doing one. We all work hard.

"I think what it shows is that in F1 everyone has a wind tunnel and so on, but to make the car work on the track is so difficult. The car moves around on the circuit, and the driver does things like touch the kerbs, and that makes it hard."

Coulthard feels that part of the explanation for McLaren and Ferrari's strong pace could be in the way their chassis works with the tyres.

"For sure, some teams work more efficiently with these tyres in a certain window of temperature, and when it goes hot they struggle," he said.

"It is possible the McLaren and the Ferraris just are working the tyre more. So they get more heat out of the tyre, and out of that they get the laptime."
