Too smart for what? None of what I do assumes the girl is dumb... girls are normally smarter than guys if anything, especially in social situations.

Sympathy... sure, whatever works for you. I'm just saying what works for me. And only a few months ago, I totally sucked with women... today... I very often get girls hitting on me, not the other way round.

I'm like a basketball player with no outside game, no low-post game, no penetration worthy of that name. Really, all I have a semi-reliable twenty-foot jumpshot, one that is easily defended against. And I have to get past the cut-throat defense played by most girls in social situations with that? <_<

(Ironically, a twenty-foot jumper is all I have to offer on the real basketball court as well. )

Neither. Part of it is also that I'm starting to get a bit tired of it all. Tired of playing "the game", if you know what I mean. I want to retire already!

That's why I like to dress EXTREMELY metro. It adds a slight sense of intrigue (many straight guys dress that way, but so do many gays... so if you're just friendly with her she doesn't know if you're interested in her or not... thus leading her to express interest in you, from which you build).

I don't think you're giving women enough credit here, man. No woman will be fooled by a guy dressing metro.

When was jeans and a t-shirt ever boring? It's simply casual, and I'd say wearing a suit to get attention is kind of... cheap. I mean, are you going to dress like that every single day you're with her from that point on to try to be interesting? I would hope not. It's all about your personality anyway. If she doesn't want to talk to you because she finds your jeans and t-shirt "boring," then good riddance to her. No one needs a girl like that.

As to your explanation of the girlfriend thing... that's just a bad idea to try to turn it into an "oh I really meant ex-girlfriend" because you've basically just told her the first thing out of your mouth was a lie to get her attention.

I prefer jeans and a t-shirt, personally. I like it even better when he's a little dirty, like he's been working outside. For some reason, I'm very attracted to men who really work with their hands or muscles for a living versus sitting in an office all day.
