Hmmm I´d love to talk to Mr. Freud about my last dream - it was one of those weirdest I´m sometimes having too much of everything. And still trying to learn Spanish

Sounds like we both are having a case of "weird" when it comes to dreams I can't even begin to explain mine with much coherence other then it had to do with the supernatural. But as with almost every dream it quickly becomes erased with the awakening of consciousness, aside from a few scant details. Speaking of consciousness, I'm already reading on the reason dreams are so easily forget and why some leave such an impression on us as we awake. Very interesting thoughts on that subject so far. I especially took notice on one of Freud's ideas as comparing dreams to that of a short line in a verse. Divide it up into its components and the human mind has trouble retaining and memorizing the line at all. But when those very same words are gathered in there appropriate concatenations and groupings the mind will easily take up the text and retain it for a long period of time. But of course dreams scarcely take order so of course much of those are easily forgotten. But oh how contradictions lay left and right with so much of the ideas given in the book. They then mention how the most peculiar and random flicks of images are grasped by the mind and remembered vividly once we awake....just aghh, cant make sense of determining how the mind works with dreams. I can only imagine how much Freud pulled his hair out at times

How's the Spanish coming along by the way? Todo bien?

Can you imagine those cases when his own patients actually dreamed about his failure in explaining their dreams through the theory of fullfilled wishes? now that is something to be absolutely crazy from

I really study - I mean, I really try to learn and I think it´s better than before... but I have a huge mishmash in my head now because of all the tenses and their usage. I hope I won´t mix it up at exams. What else can I say... - que todo vaya bien

Well, here's where I am with the drawing faces thing. I tried to draw Melores . I think it looks like a person, but didn't come out as what I had in mind. It actually looks like someone somewhat older in fact. Those arrows are for the dimensions of the face. The tutorials say the hairline to eyebrow, eyebrow to bottom of the nose and bottom of the nose to chin are supposed to be equal thirds and that middle section's a bit long. I also kindof gave up on the hair obviously . I only spent a couple of minutes and used a mechanical pencil, so next time I'll put in more time and maybe use some graphite pencils. That said, my goals for next time are...

- getting those dimensions equal

- patience

- making it more 3 dimensional

- making it look more like the person of course

- also to spend more time with the hair

Oh Joe, I´d love you to be here by my side now - it´s much easier to explain drawing techniques face to face than through internet. First steps are really simple... that Marloes drawing is not that bad - I like her eyes.

But firstly... do not try to draw someone you know - rather learn how to draw "no one" - how to draw oval faces, how to draw head itself, how eyes are actually put in the head (you have to feel their roundness inside of the head) - you need to remember and realize that the whole face has a structure underneath the skin.

Hm... have you tried to draw skulls? It´s perfect, you´ll realize that you actually need to have a place for chin, cheeks and all... then try to learn to draw face muscles, it will give you the perception of 3D feeling of the face. Hair is the absolutely last one to learn.

When drawing a face, you need to realize the skull and the muscles underneath the skin, you need to realize there are rules to follow, that our whole head has a structure (there must be space for brain, eyes, muscles, nose, lips...). You have to realize these, really.

That´s why studying the skull and muscles of face (and body too) will help you the most.

it´s nicely put here:

http://www.portrait-artist.org/face/structure.html

http://www.drawninblack.com/2008/11/how-to...-illustrations/

and... you have to draw a lot and a lot and a hell lot of

Yeah, you talk about war like some people talk about breakfast or vaccation I, on the other hand, can get so damn over-sensitive over such matter... hm. Nothing wrong with you. Nothing wrong with me too I guess, it´s just perception of things.

And I have to learn Spanish because I´m having an exam in like few days

Nothing really surprises me about war, so I am at ease when I discuss it. :-D

And everything about a war surprises ME, so

I have neither the time nor inclination to scour Lily's thread to see if this is a repost - but I saw it, and thought of you:

It's lovely, don't you think? The photographer is Chris Colls...

It is, indeed thank you B I´m really falling into Lily recently... and still. Especially love the colour of her eyes, so deep brown!

^Pretty sure it's real hair, but not attached to the models' heads. They're sculptures made by a Japanese artist.. pretty amazing hey!

Alot of times down here, there in the water very close and alot of people say they will come right up to yuou, also the same with manatee's, i know when me & the hubby took our cruise, they were following our ship, sooooooooooo cool, they were just swimming along side. ALSO happy friday Jenks, also what did you think of Daria's lastest Vogue cover, SWOONS, SOOOOOOOOOO stunning, her eyes are what get me, SOOOOOOOOO hypnodic H13270700182519217_1.jpg

You know how much I love Daria not a fan of the hairstyle but... love her her eyes are always mesmerizing

And dolphins are really amazing and fascinating creatures. It must have been wonderful!

agree on the hair, but the colors she's wearing are stunning on her skin tone, she is very verstile i feel, as for the Dolphins, there used alot in therapys with mentally handicaped & austic children/adults, they are a soothing mammal to be around, calms the person down, making them open to things

He probably sent those individuals to a psychiatrist for there hallucinations Although I admit I would probably mess with him on my dreams just to get him all flustered...just my ways though

I wonder, what types of mediums do you use for your studies? Anything like Rosetta Stone by any chance?

Yeah, she is! She can be both edgy and beautiful, HF and commercial like... although her beauty is more unconventional than conventional, she still succeeds in commercial beauty campaigns Daria is indeed a great model... she does not have many fans here, but that is sometimes better than having an army of ardent fans

I know about the dolphins - they do the same with horses and dogs, kind of therapy for many illnesses... isn´t it amazing how calming and loving effect can animals have on persons? Maybe it´s because they want nothing, and give everything - it´s like magic

Rosetta Stone? Who is she?

I mostly learn from books we have, and notes I take during the lessons. I try to read things in Spanish on the internet (Clara Alonso blog e.g. ) or this site:

I have also three books in Spanish - one Terry Pratchett and two adaptations of stories... but I´m too lazy to read them

Any recommendations are welcome

I haven't tried skulls, thanks for the suggestion . I think one of the first things I have to unlearn is that my comfort zone is trying to draw the eyes first and then I try to draw the head last when all of the tutorials so far teach drawing the head first. I realize of course that the reason I started doing that is because I currently lack the control to decide exactly how big the eyes are going to be and drawing the head last allows that. That's a great idea about drawing no one first too. I'll definitely work on those tutorials in the mean time .

Great, I´m eager to see the results

Funny, I did the same as you - drawing the eyes first. Then I started to attend drawing lessons (one year with a painter) and although we both had absolutely different taste in art, he taught me many things about drawing techniques.

It´s important to learn how to draw the structure of general face first. Only after mastering this, you can try to draw portrait of someone you know and the best is to draw someone "inreal" - I mean, not from picture, but a real face standing in front of you this way you can better feel the 3D of the face.

agreed, but i like unqiue sometimes, yes LIMA isnt as unqiue as daria, lolllllllllll, but i do like more than just lima. Daria's bone struture, form, which isnt as bone thin as alot of the HF models, and i like that, her skin tone is exotic as well, loving the very dusky look it has, but the eyes its all about the eyes. K13275027332514649_1.jpg, I need to make some sets of her. as for the animals and healing properties, I think its because the person feels the center of that animals world, that they are loved and cared for totally no strings attached, and thats a beautiful thing

Oh, Rosetta Stone is computer-assisted language learning software. Books in audio basically. Heard it worked wonders for a few co-workers who needed to learn/improve a 2nd or in some cases 3rd language

But so far I think your on the right track with the books you have since i don't know any to recommend at the moment. Plus notes always help during lecture So pay attention

LOL and i don't blame you for NOT reading such books. Such material drives me nuts so it's why i hang around those that speak the language I need to learn to really soak it up

But something tells me you don't have many large groups of those who speak Spanish in your area eh?

yeah, and take dogs - especially them - how thankfull they can be, how blinded when it goes to someone they love and consider their "master". Sometimes it´s insane... and sometimes it´s not fair at all.

Send me some snow Jennka

42°C today.. been like this all week :yuckky:

42 celzius?? That´s insane

It once again started to freeze here (it was from 0 to 10 celzius, then it started to freeze, snow, up and down temperatures...) but no snow for now once again It´s weird because Bratislava (and generally west Slovakia) seems to be the the only area without snow.

But I can send you some from Myjava or Borinka and the middle and east Slovakia have loads of it, there are snow calamities there actually. Here it´s more about the dry winter, which I kinda appreciate now... but with a cold northern winter - brrrrr! It´s only -2 celzius but you feel like it was -20!
