The yesterday lesson was quite fun. We were learning how to pronounce and as Russian is quite different to pronounce as Slovak, we had a lot of fun - but it was enjoyable

have you met lot of Russian people, Joe?

Not a whole lot, but probably more than a few. My best Russian friend taught me some Sambo, but it took awhile to get used to the fact that my jokes all failed miserably. That's to say not just 'that's not funny' kindof failure, but the jokes not even being recognized as jokes kindof failure . I'll always appreciate the Sambo though. Of course, its worth mentioning that despite the one time stereotype of the women being manly, there's apparently a large population of beautiful women there. The better you get, I'm sure the more fun a vacation will be .

And do you know what else is weird,  Jennka?  I just noticed..

Her twitter feed (or whatever it was) I checked used the same Kendra avatar that I used.  I mean...even the crop is the similar (I cropped it myself). That's why I suspect that she has visited this site before.

How's the book?  Out of curiosity, why did are you reading the originals (Freud and Darwin) rather than something more modern?  The reason why I say this is that old texts have their value but I have found that it is easier to read a modern synthesis and then go back to the 'old master'.  You'd end up picking up more and learning better as to how they think.  You'll even save time.

I always do that when I try to enter a new field.

Also, and talk about coincidences: This was an interview Kendra Spears did recently. In fact, the timing of the interview coincides with my announcements. Is she reading your thread? Hey Kendra? Kendra! Post here...(lets hope for serendipity..):

Model Spotlight: Kendra Spears

Tell us the last book you read?

I am currently reading Thinking Fast and Slow, a book about how the mind works.

Kendra is on spot!

I´m currently (finally!!!) reading Darwin´s On the Origin of Species. Great book, although a bit exhausting to read.

I´m slowly learning to write how is it with learning languages in the place you live? It is considered common?

Thank you for the vid I have seen it, but had no time to watch it really, so I finally got to it now! I really like it Gisele has pretty voice (smooth) so it sounds nice in the song. Of course she´s not aspiring for a singer, but it´s beautiful still. What do you think?

Unfortunately, I'd say it's pretty rare. We're taught French and/or German in schools, but once you reach a certain age you're given the option to ditch it, which a great many choose to do. I stuck with both for as long as I could when I was at school, but found it really difficult to stay in the habit once it was over, as I found myself with less cause to use it and no-one to practice with.

I doubt Gisele will ever be mistaken for Aretha Franklin or anyone, though overall I was pleasantly surprised, not only by the song but the fact that she chose such a good song to sing. The way she pronounces the 'with you' part made me laugh a little bit though, as did her slightly pained expression while singing.

Love the cottage pics, by the way!

Oh she does and glad you like them!! I find all those women totally astonishing.

As for the weather, funny you mention it because since Monday we´re experiencing some rough conditions indeed. It´s mostly from 7 to 11 celzius throughout the day, it rains a lot and wind is blowing. It feels really cold!

How does it look at your place?

Ugh sounds like winter is already trying to rear its ugly head over there

Luckily we are having some incredible mild conditions here at the moment after going thru a small heat wave a few days back. Currently around 25 C during the day here and no humidity anymore which REALLY helps with the comfort level since opening windows is a big no-no under such conditions and I love the cool night breezes.

And oh my hun those pictures of the cottage look amazing! Place is looking dam good and I love your wood skills, planning anymore soon?

WOOT, more pics! I can't keep up with this swarm lately though My favs:

Hey,sweety  I'm fine, thank you.I haven't been  alot on BZ  for more than 2 months now, from time to time I come here.I'm doing so fine.

Is everything going well?work?FL?family?I want to know that everything is ok.

I think it is, there´s always just the regular mess you need to deal with when having family Fl still works for the same company, we still do the reconstruction works on the cottage and also we started to plan our own house, we just need at first to deal with all the byroucracy and family stuff. I will write more when I´m certain of the details.

How are you dealing with your marriage now, has it gotten better?

That´s Kika Jovanovic - she really has a body to look at, doesn´t she?

and thank you My dream is to make me a whole furniture into my own home! And of course, to construct rooms for my children - I may not look forward to having kids, but I just can´t wait to construct my first children cot! Lol. There are many things yet to make - the only thing I need is time and more material.

I have seen a side jointer I would love to buy but it costs quite much so I have to save some money for it.

The weather sounds so nice there! For the last two days we are having mild temperatures as well, around 21C which is great. The meteorologists also promised a nice indian summer

I really don't know, actually.  I checked recently and was surprised to see the same obscure avatar (A vogue snapshot I think) being used.  I dunno, I think it's expected.  I'm sure many do, but they rarely post out of their own interests.

As far as old masters go, I sensed the same thing when reading the old economists.  They each have their own particular insights which had secured their train of thought enduring value.

I have heard from someone who has read his biography...that much of Darwin's success and innovation came from his excellent discipline and unusual devotion towards objectivity.  He would constantly question his old research and had very much a pure scientific attitude. He recognized himself as not someone with extreme quickness or brililance of mind and always retained a belief in his fallibility as a person.  He sought to compensate for this by being was unusually thorough in this thinking.

Is that accurate?

That Kendra thing is funny, really. She used it after you or before? It´s kinda exciting to know some models visit their threads, isn´t it?

The Darwin book is a total mind-blow, I love it. To see all the thoughts and theories he had back then and compare them to those of today, he was really damn wise man, somehow "feeling" the truth behind things he did not quite understand because of the lack of technique back then. When you read the book now, you just have to wonder and bow down before him and the way his mind worked. Despite all the oppression that science experienced from religion then, biologists of those days were trully full of passion for their work, and love. I´m also reading a biography of Charles Darwin from Irving Stone so it´s kinda funny to read both books simultaneously, very educating - it gives you the whole "picture" of those times and how Charles was as a human (very modern thinking, revolutionary almost).

To answer your question - I think, that to understand thoroughly any science, one has to go right down to the roots to actually see the evolution of the whole process. I´m also reading modern science mags with up-to-date info on various thesis and theories and the whole picture comes off more quickly and clearly when knowing the backround and history.

Also, I quite enjoy the books (you know I´m a fan of Freud, so I love his books no matter how old they are) and try to vary them, reading both the old ones and the new ones like Dawkins, but with all my hobbies there is so little time to dedicate to even more books Now with my Russian lessons, there is even less time as I have to learn Azbuka and do my homework and that consumes some time as well. I´m also drawing again - a website layout for a friend.

Damn, so many things to do - thus I ended reading three books at once - one is always in English and one in Spanish to practice the language and the third one is mostly in Czech or Slovak to relax a bit. I once tried to narrow down my hobbies, but I just can´t - I end up being depressed of not doing one or another. So I just gave up and continue wishing the day had 36 hours.

I see, as English is trully an international language one does not have quite the motivation and opportunity to learn another languages. I have the same with Spanish - no one to practice with, so at least I´m trying to read books and continue in learning myself when I have time - it´s almost a passion. I don´t want to forget what I have learned in my Spanish course.

So I guess you don´t work in company that co-operates with foreign countries?

LOL I know exactly what you mean at first I was like "whooo what the??" but the more I listened to it, the more I came to love it, and now I just can´t get it off my head with the "with you" pronounciation she does there

The song was chosen by the company, and I agree, really good one! It´s very catchy and comes nice with her voice and frankly, there are far worse singers that actually built up their careers on singing

and thank you love it there

Not any more, though I used to work for a company who'd often communicate via telephone with an office in Germany. I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to practice my linguistic skills, problem was, whenever I'd try to speak German with them they would just speak English back. They probably thought their English was better than my German, and I guess they wouldn't have been wrong.

Love the hedgehog pics too. We used to see them quite often in gardens around here but I haven't seen a single one this year, which I'm rather sad about.

Bizarrely, I got my first real glimpse of the Slovakian mountains yesterday. I was watching a documentary about an artist/sculptor called Andrew Rogers and one of the works he created just happened to be in the high tatras, I couldn't believe it. It's really beautiful scenery, I'd like to visit one day.

Of course, its worth mentioning that despite the one time stereotype of the women being manly, there's apparently a large population of beautiful women there.

That, to me, sounds like the stereotype of German women, not Russian....

Here in Slovakia, German women generally are not considered very beautiful at all

I've just seen your pics of the cottage, great work and progress.

Seems you still have that same family problem, the grandma byroucracy, right ? Hard to deal with issues when it comes to oldies who have so strict beliefs and thoughts,I can see patience is the solution ,at least for some time.

The marriage.... ,I really don't know what to say Jennka. It's not that I don't want to say it,I don't fear or feel shy to say anything, but would it be proper to say it on board, don't know.

However,as for me,away from that issue, I'm so fine and so happy in my life now,as back in my old days.

So happy to know you like Andreea,I've been liking her for long time ago,and was little angry that her thread didn't have lots of fans at that time, she's stunning and has so beautiful face, and she's of few here on BZ who got attention before working for VS,as I consider VS is the key word of success and fandom to any model on BZ.

Thank you

Andreea is amazingly beautiful, a total package of great body with a striking face, what more can one want VS can bring lots of attention to a model, which is great on one side, on other side it can lurk in also the psycho-fans who can make a thread unbearable to read

You can write me pm anytime and I´m glad you´re finally back to your old happy days (aside from the issue). I feel like something is changing inside me within the relationship with FL - it´s weird. I feel like I would like to start a family with him - not so scared as I used to be. I´m really considering it.
