I've been in another state of being and thought of you in this lovely poem.. enjoy my wholesome, poetry man...
BLESS ME WITH THOSE EYES!
'A thing of beauty is a joy for ever'
Words of Keats one can forget never
What is beauty - beauty is where
One can enjoy here and there, every where!
Grecian urn a beautiful piece
Niagara falls a beautiful place
Silver streaks of water brings us peace
Hills and dales sure nature's grace!
Does beauty lie in the objects seen
Or lie in the eyes of the seer keen?
Beauty seen in the scorching Sun
Beauty felt in the biting cold
Beauty heard in the melody of birds
Beauty smelt in the fragrance of rose
Beauty tasted in the bitterness of neem
Beauty found sure in every mean(s) !
'Beauty is truth and truth beauty
That is all what ye know on earth
And what all ye need to know'
Words of Wisdom
From votary of beauty
And a devotee of Almighty!
Creator of noble beauty
Harbinger of peace and piety
Bless me with those eyes and mind
Beauty in ugliness that they can find!
Beauty of the mind and beauty of the soul
Sure makes one the wholesome whole!
Subbaraman N V

^Wow, my dear - you are in a special place!!! (And Me..? "Wholesome"?
)
Didn't know what 'neem' was, so I looked it up. Don't try and taste it people, it's extremely poisonous! :yuckky:
I think it's about time I troubled you with some poetry on here myself...

Hey Baron, what do you think about Django Reinhart
? I like his music
and think he may be one of the coolest dudes ever

^You're not wrong, Joe! Infact, the current Baroness is a jazz musician, and a big fan of the Reinhardt/Grappelli "Hot Club" quintet. So this is pretty timely...
Main thing is though - he just looks so damn cool!

Yeah...
And cool
. Didn't know about the quintet
. Can't wait to check that out
!
Star Trek the Movie
:chicken:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm with you, Joe! I only hope that this new guy has half the charisma of the great William Shatner as this original intergalactic love-machine...

So which is better, Star Trek or Star Wars
?!

So which is better, Star Trek or Star Wars?!
Ah, the eternal question!
A friend of mine once said that Star Trek was just "sociology in space". And whilst he was a little harsh, I get his point...
The 60's show was so radical at the time. My father is a huge fan - and got himself a colour TV simply to watch that! It addressed all the Civil Rights issues, the 'Cold War', interference in the Far East. But for me it was about Kirk/Spock/McCoy and their fantastic dynamic: McCoy would get so incensed by some 'injustice' and Spock would talk him out of getting involved - and then Kirk would just go in a beat everybody up! (With, of course, the customary rip across his shirt for his trouble):

When it came back I did watch The Next Generation, but it wasn't as much fun... My father watched them all intensely though (plus all the Stargate/Galactica/Babylon gubbins), so I kept in the loop. I did watch the films though (favourite: Wrath Of Khan - like most people I think!).
And McCoy is one of the few impressions I can do with any success (I'm a doctor, not a bricklayer...)
But, for me, Star Wars wins out every time...
Whilst 'Trek' does deal with important sociological issues, 'Wars' is all about mythology: Fathers, sons and destinies. Redemption. Chosen Ones. Wise oracles and monsters. Plus it's all about overthrowing totalitarian regimes which - for a kid growing up under a military dictatorship (like Argentina in the early 80's) - was a pretty big deal.
Before George Lucas ballsed it all up with trying to explain everything, and nonsense about midi-clorians and bloody trade disputes (
), it was simply 'good versus evil' and rebels and empires. What's not to like? And this was sort of 'retro' sci-fi - the ships were all beaten up and dirty. And, well, you had these things:

I mean, come on?
I'm not buying into all that Vader worship though. Sure, he was 'mean as' in A New Hope - but he was already starting to wimp out a bit by the end of Empire Strikes Back. His backstory showed him up to be a bit petulant: Just a guy who was, briefly, the coolest fucking thing in the world, but kind of pissed it away. A bit like the great footballer George Best - or, for those who don't know about that, maybe Corey Haim!!!
No, it was The Emperor for me (incidentally, another impression I can do!). He was Videla and Galtieri - heads of the military junta who took over the country in 1976, until the war in '82. Just ruling under an iron thumb, getting rid of anybody who disagreed with the policies... In the prequels he just wanted power, a nasty old Sith all along. The Emperor had no redemptive qualities, he didn't need them, he was simply a 'baddie' - and he loved it!

Sure, there are loads of faults with the franchise (Jar-Jar Binks, anyone?), but I had the toys and still watch the films now. Plus, the ex-Baroness of Fratton came to the cinema with me to see The Phantom Menace (which I was ridiculously exited about) and she just fell asleep. I should have known then... <_<

And I know I called Kirk the "original intergalactic love-machine". But I forgot that A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far, Far Away...

I agree completely Baron!
Trek was more like what could happen in the future, it had no mystique or fantasy in it. (I love Trek btw, Voyager ftw)
Star Wars however is filled with so much imagination! And I don't even mean the movies; yeah the original 3 were fucking AMAZING! But books, comics and video games spawned from this. Good ones!(never liked the star trek books, boring as hell)
I personally am a fan of the Old Republic, before Vader came in. When the true Sith, the real Sith made people shiver in fear. When Revan was the Dark Lord, and the Order running strong on Dantooine, but covered planets with their temples.
Oh the stories! I love them!

She fell asleep? O.O I stayed awake and made fun of the new 3 lol.

I must say though; the new Star Trek movie looks really good. I will be there to see it the first day ![]()

Tribbles and Ewoks are one thing, but - who are the better Slave-Girls?
ORION SLAVE-GIRLS

Orion females are in particularly high demand as consorts and entertainment. Dialog in "The Menagerie" describes the Orion slave-girls as "Vicious, seductive..." and that "they say no human male can resist them." The plot of "Bound" reveals that their seductive prowess stems in large part from the pheromones they release. These pheromones also have an incapacitating effect on females of most other species (Vulcans at least are immune). Orion women are known for their wiles and sexual appetite.
TWI'LEK SLAVE-GIRLS

Female Twi'leks have been considered especially attractive and slender, which made them favorite subjects for slavery and entertainment. The beauty of female Twi'leks was well known throughout the galaxy, and as a result many nubile ones were sold into slavery, becoming dancers or status symbols. They are often sold by their family members for profit.
And why does this always happen in sci-fi? ![]()

hi!! i dont have anyhting to say really, just wanted to hop in and spread some luv

penny's here!
You come and spread whatever you want... It's nice to have visitors.
Happy Dance for penny's return. (At about 1:15 Tom does indeed dance like HELL  ):

I'll have to read all this when I get home
. But Baron, I think Zoe fits the role better than what I would have thought of before hand. But casting is one of my favorite hobbies and I had already thought about it
. I have casts for most things actually, even books, cartoons and comic books
.

^Heavens forbid, my dear sweet Red!
I have far too much respect for you.
But if they come in any colour then I'm quite partial to orange please...
