what´s going on here?

A whole bunch of nothing. It's a boring place :lost:

I haven't heard from you in a while. I hope everything is fine

This place is everything but boring I still can´t stop laughing from the mustard and the commentators

Yeah, I´m fine, a little bit crazy though but finally I seem to find my inner peace how are you?

I hate it when they screw up the acoustics at a venue.

Have you seen Yeasayer yet? They were down here recently but I had no money

Spike Jonze Is the video meant to be related to the lyrics, because I can't hear it?

Any music to recommend?

Yeasayer is still a couple of weeks away but I relented and decided to go. If it's mostly precise electronic sounds then I should be on pretty safe ground, acoustics-wise. Definitely won't be going to see anything grungy again though. Curse you, Newcastle Academy! :persuazn:

The story of the video is really just a funny little sideline, but some of the scenes do fit the dynamic perfectly. Loud bits while speeding in the golf buggy, quiet bits for a crucial putt.

I'd wholeheartedly recommend the Sleigh Bells and Best Coast albums, if you haven't already heard them (if not, I can soon fix that *wink wink*). They're all I've been listening to for the last month.

If memory serves, you're a fellow Bloc Party fan, right? Have you heard any of Kele's solo stuff yet?

Hey guys, I was wondering since players (aside from the goalie) can't use their arms and hands, does height matter in soccer? It seems as though there aren't tons of particularly tall but yet I don't see a whole lot particularly short either. I would think a short person would have an advantage, or maybe not , so what's the deal :morning: ?

Generally speaking, it depends on whether a player is attacking or defensively minded, and what style of play the manager implements. But there are exceptions to every rule. If you asked the average fan to imagine their ideal modern attacking footballer, they'd probably describe something along the lines of Cristiano Ronaldo - 6'2", quick, athletic and skillful. Arguably the current top player in the world however, is Lionel Messi, who despite being only 5'5" is also incredibly fast, strong and resilient. Having a low centre of gravity can help no end while running with the ball and fending off opposing players.

For a defender, it's much the same thing. There are certain raw materials you'd look for in a player such as height, bravery, strength and speed - and while it's getting rare these days to see a defender who's under six feet tall, a smaller player could still flourish with the right combination of athleticism and awareness. Physicality helps, but really it's the things you can't teach (anticipation, speed of thought, being in the right place at the right time and so on) that seperate good players from average ones.

Ideally, you'd want a combination of both tall and small players in a team, but really it takes all sorts - just take a look at these guys...

Try to take a football from a small, quick player

Which team are you?

Tell me more about Cuba? Are the fabled cigars-rolled-on-the-thighs-of-Cuban-virgins real?

It's always good when someone finds their inner peace. Care to share your secret? I'm doing alright, but a lot to do lately and I just can't catch up with everything but amidst all the anarcy and chaos, I try to find my inner peace too. Sitting in the sun reading a book is great. Just wish I could do it more often.

LOL Yeasayer have a fair bit of fuzz in their music if the album is anything to go by. I never knew you lived near Newcastle? Oh right...Sunderland fan...makes sense

I need to rewatch that video WITH VOLUME when I get the sound. Spike Jonze is always good. I still have that video he made of the Daft Punk Alive tour sitting around on my comp somewhere.

I've been listening to a bit of Sleigh Bells but I'll check out Best Coast too. I've got the Kele album but I just switched comps so I need to back everything up and transfer it to the new comp. Don't think I'll be listening to it in a while, but Tenderoni didn't exactly hit the spot for me. Any thoughts?

M* already answered...but there are advantages. It depends on your style of play as well but normally, you'd want your tall players at the back and the front to stifle or create an aerial threat. All that being said, the tallest players don't guarantee winning the ball because they don't seem to jump as much. Some of the best "jumpers" I've seen are Mikael Ballack and Tim Cahill, neither of which you'd consider tall.

The secret is very easy - physical work When you build something by your own hands you realize how amazing it feels, and finally you are so wonderfully tired that nothing really matters

Oh yes, sitting in the sun reading a book is amazing thing. What do you read now?

So, all this weekend I kept hearing about "Red Ed" and how he's going to ruin the UK... a) What are you doing over there? And, b) is this you then?

(Btw, my BZ league's 'captain curse' has struck again - with Giggs out for the month now. I'm loathe to pass the armband on for fear of losing yet another player...)

a) I'm there on a holiday. I take exception to the statement that I am there to ruin the UK; it already is.

b) That cannot be me. I am the one with the ninja mask on

..And captain an Arsenal player. That way it won't come as a shock when he's injured

Sorry Ed, I forgot I owed you a reply. /

I didn't mind Tenderoni but there was another recent tune (the title escapes me at the moment) that I didn't really care for, so it's left me a bit undecided about the album. It's still on my 'to check out' list though. I'm still listening to Best Coast quite a bit, loving the Warpaint album, and getting into another band from your side of the pond, Tame Impala, so I'm afraid Kele will have to wait his turn for the time being.

Luckily, the sound for Yeasayer was pretty decent and I'd thoroughly recommend checking them out if you haven't already. It seems the acoustics at the venue are better depending on whereabouts you're standing, so as long as you stay away from the front and not too close to the walls, it's tolerable (if still a little muddy). We also got treated to a sighting of that little monster from the 'Madder Red' video, which they've apparently named after Mark Van Bommel.

I only like one song from Kele's album and that is 'Everything You Wanted'. Can't say I listen to any others. Best Coast sound good but after a while all their songs all sound the same to me and Tame Impala are good. I don't listen to much of their stuff but this cover rocks

Yeasayer are coming down again for a festival next year :hell yea!: Along with Beach House and Two Door Cinema Club Interpol and Mark Ronson are coming down too The venue you describe reminds me of this:

^ Sheldon is my hero!

As a band who are almost permanently dressed in black suits, I can't imagine Interpol's look would really lend itself to the Australian weather, but I applaud them for trying anyway.

Do check out Beach House if you can though. I didn't think there was any way Victoria's voice would sound like it does on the album, but it does and seemingly without even trying. Pre-song banter could use a little work though - "How about that Millennium bridge? Yeah, that's a good bridge."
