Hey good sir, fond of burgers? If so how about I recommend the below? ![]()

I know the feeling!I suppose in today's footballing world, Ajax have become something akin to second class citizens who are condemned to 'getting players ready' for the more cash-rich clubs elsewhere in Europe, which is a great shame as historically they're one of the most successful clubs in the world. I loved their fantastic Champions League winning side of the mid-90s.
Got any more games lined up to watch, Joe?
Well, at least they used to be good ![]()
. Sine the question was asked, I watched some women's college games
. Based on what I saw, I admire their defense and effort although I was shocked to see some pretty amazing misses from like a few feet away
. I guess it was college but still, I think the goalie even fell down on a couple of them. One thing I don't like for some reason in the pros is people playing for countries they aren't actually from. That's probably because I'm used to people in the NBA playing for a general team and then playing for their home country during Olympic time. That is of course aside from those like Sudan who represented other countries as an act of protest against their government on the other hand. I don't really think about it much when I'm actually watching though and tend to just relax and enjoy. Speaking of Joes, any particular position on this 'whether Joe Hart should start for England' debate? It seemed to be a heated topic on a sports show.

What was Scott Pilgrim vs. The World about? From the look of it it seems like another teenage comedy with a hint of fantastic world (reason why I still have not seen it
). Maybe you can get me into the picture?
Suzy really does remind of young Lana
though I´m not a fan of Lana much, she seems to have one face for everything (and her mouth is scary). There was something about Suzy that got me stare at her, really captivating. The whole idea of the island was priceless. Also, Edward Norton and Bruce Willis are my favourite actors, and they did just amazing.
Do you have any other Wes Anderson movies to recommend?
I’d definitely recommend checking out 'Scott Pilgrim' if at all possible. It’s a lot more than just another Michael Cera movie about a hapless wet lettuce in love (although you do get that too
), it’s a really brilliant non-superhero comic book adaptation, and for anyone brought up on arcade or video games, comics, martial arts or anime, it’s a treat. The soundtrack is great, the action and pacing are lightning fast and every other line is a zinger.
I don’t believe there's ever been a bad Wes Anderson movie, just some you could argue are stronger than others.
Chances are that if you like 'Moonrise', you'll like them all, as they each pack a similar mixture of gentle humour, charm and eccentric characters, but if I had to pick a favourite, I'd probably go with 'The Royal Tenenbaums'. There's a huge ensemble cast, and the characters are all written so well that there's something to enjoy about all of them.
Ok, I´ll give it a try then
I have to say that at first, I was sceptical towards Kick Ass as well, and ended up totally astonished lol. That movie was a pure kick-ass indeed!
Don´t know if I asked you this before - but do you have any favourite models?

I have to say though, he doesn't look like he frequents fast food establishments that much. ![]()

I went to see the USA-New Zealand quarter final at the Olympics last year, and ever since then I've been keeping a closer eye on the women's game. Some teams are still relatively new to the international scene and thus, are often easy prey to the traditional 'powerhouse' nations, but in general, I think strength in depth is improving all the time. I find the women's game really refreshing to watch, actually - the players are down to earth, strong-minded people who've probably had to put up with a lot of sexist nonsense to get where they are, skillful players seem to flourish more, and it's considerably less blighted by all the things we think are bad about the men's game. ![]()
I think in football, when a player has more than one option at international level, it's usually a case of 'whose team could I get into?'.
But the system does create strange and funny situations sometimes. There's a young Manchester United player (Adnan Januzaj) who qualifies for 11 different nations, while two brothers (Jerome and Kevin-Prince Boateng) even played against each other in a World Cup game between Ghana and Germany a few years back. ![]()
To be honest, I think Hart has been in sharp decline for a while, and what was initially dismissed as a temporary slump in form is starting to look more like a permanent downturn in quality. One of the theories doing the rounds is that he's suffered from a lack of competition for his place at both club and international level for too long, leading to a subconscious complacency - and of course, when a goalkeeper starts getting complacent it becomes almost immediately evident, more so than any other position on the pitch. I do think they'll stick with him for the time being, though, rightly or wrongly.

Have you seen the second one yet?
I think I'd probably still count Karlie, Marloes, Edita, Eniko, Tiiu, Bregje, Daria, Sui He, Catherine McNeil and Michelle Ouellette as tops at the moment, though Nina Agdal has really grown on me as of late too. I still visit the models and actresses sections a lot, but mainly just to post thankyous. I rarely post pictures there these days, the others are way too fast for me. ![]()

Michael,
I am backed up with this forum at the moment, but regarding your August. 20th post:
Here are Nazi propaganda newsreels about Kiev and the Kiev Encirclement. Also there is a book review I posted in SS's thread that covered the mass murder and war crimes in Kiev (I'll dig that up later)
Panzergruppe 2 under General Guderian completes the Kiev Pocket, Images of the ruined City
Also your comment about Soviets troops is actually an urban myth that was spread by this notoriously hated film

How come this is new to me: https://twitter.com/AccidentalP ?!!
It's already so addictive I'm making sure to prescribe and adhere to rest-breaks...

Yeah, you don't want your goalie getting complacent
. I imagine that it would be somewhat more difficult while spending your time running around the field compared to doing more waiting by nature. Two brothers playing for different nations is unacceptable :persuazn: ! The guy with eligibility in 11 nations, lol
. That's true about the female players and the sexism thing. I'm also glad that they have the same uniforms as men as well. If they had to wear spandex instead, it probably wouldn't have helped in that area. It also seems to be one of those sports where in a lot of places here there is equal emphasis (whether that emphasis be large, small or in the middle) for both sexes in schools. Well, actually tennis is probably first (not that its one of the most popular here) or then again swimming, track and field. That is in terms of equal interest in playing or participating among both sexes from school teams on up. After that, probably baseball if you count softball in there and then basketball after that. Basketball's requirement for such specific set of physical attributes along with the specific skills as well as the physical nature of it probably makes it much more preferable to the males in terms of participation although the female interest in terms of fandom here is very high, even though still not close to American football. Women's combat sports and women's water polo are of course very physical, but don't require such specific physical attributes as basketball. That was one down side for me about women's soccer initially is that I couldn't stand to see women get knocked down and hurt at first but I later began to just admire their toughness.
Fascinating you mention that female interest in American football (in terms of spectating) is so high. It's one of the few sports I can think of that I've never actually seen women play, and I usually assume (perhaps wrongly) that there's a pretty strong correlation between watching and participating. ![]()
Also, further to our chat about eccentric football/soccer commentary, here's a recent one you might like. Long story short, the USA saved Mexico's World Cup campaign last night with two incredibly late goals against Panama (one would have been enough), sending the Mexican commentator into a frenzy. ![]()

Strange, I know for a fact that I saw that movie (I distinctly remember losing all interest when Bob Hoskins turned up as Nikita Khrushchev
), but I've no recollection of the thing about the Soviet troops being mentioned in it. I'd be interested to know now whether 'Dynamo' predates the movie or vice versa.
It's a book with rather a lot of unanswered questions about people and events initially described in minute detail - whether it simply mirrors the inconsistencies at the heart of the 'official' mythology, I'm not sure.

I can't help thinking now that they missed a trick by not naming the movie 'Action Trousers'. ![]()

Technically, women do play it in the form of the 'lingerie league'
but it isn't popular with women for obvious reasons. Unfortunately, the women are actually talented, but will never get respect under the current format. I personally think they should just do away with the current format and make a women's league. Its not like the issue is their safety as its not like it would be less dangerous for adding more pads and clothes. Intergender 'flag football' is also extremely popular as a recreational sport here.

@ The video, LOL, I love those guys
. One common thing about football and the NFL is the different hilarious ways in which players downplay the significance of someone else controlling their destiny or them being reliant on someone else's output.

Lingerie league, hmmm...
It's sad that the only way women who want to play professionally have to do so in their underwear or not at all. So, do they play without any sort of protective gear?
I meant to ask since I know you're an NFL and basketball fan (amongst other sports) which teams you root for? ![]()

Our women's rugby teams play in regular clothes whereas the lingerie league does have helmets and some knee pads, but not much. It just got started as a novelty, but no one actually intended on it evolving into actually having talented athletes. I can't stand to watch it due to the plight myself. It is somewhat of a strange thing in sports in that its one of few things that so many female sports fans love without having a real professional avenue for. Another group of women underrated due to their attire is roller derby. They have great skill, dedication and it is also very physical too. Well, they're just short shorts, but not demeaning actually. Its probably moreso underrated due to not that many people being interested
. I mentioned earlier that intergender, recreational flag football (whereby taking someone's flag counts as a tackle) is big time recreational fun here and there's even different celebrity games where the women hold their own against the men head to head. Maybe that's something to build on. I still maintain that the lingerie league should just be replaced with a flag football league.
In the NFL, I pull for the Houston Texans. They have a bit of a strange history in that they are a decade old expansion team and yet there is actually a debate over who their root team was. The original team named the Texans was the Dallas Texans but they went belly up and soon became what are now the Kansas City Chiefs. The Houston Oilers thrived for awhile but soon moved to Tennessee and there was no Houston team. They then became the Tennessee Titans and there was no Oilers. Then, about 10 years ago, the Houston Texans sprouted up and some debate over whether they are from the Dallas Texans or Houston Oilers as a root team
. Either way, they're okay. They had promise last year and are filled with inner turmoil and are overall average to maybe above average. There's some talent here and there, but in a team with 56 players on a team, it doesn't go as far as it would in basketball or hokey and if they made the playoffs at all, I'd be shocked if they won a game. In basketball, the Houston Rockets are also average. In football, I tend to root for Mexico over the U.S.
because I have some afro-Mexican relatives and other-Mexican in-laws ect. and figured I'd let that be the Mexican team I support since I go straight America for the Olympics. I consider myself to be a loyal fan. I don't flip flop, but I can't say that my primary enjoyment in the sports is based on said teams. As a matter of fact, there are some games I guess you have to be a fan to even sit through. To make matters worse, they always have updates of other more exciting games that are going on at the same time
.

Ok, I´ll give it a try then

So how would you rate the batman games?

I'm confused: What does a soccer game/team have anything to do with the Kiev encirclement and the conquest of the city?
I mean, Kiev itself was at the center of the largest encirclement and cauldron battle in military history. 25% of the city also went up in flames.
What kind of questions do you have? I do know a bit about Barbarossa and have a lot of reference material on it.
Thanks Andy.

Here's the post I made to SS about Kiev:
I thought you might appreciate this due to COH, but here are some hastily written notes I jotted down for some history enthusiasts. They had a good reception of it:
It is a bullet-point summary of one of the most accurate and essential experiential combat diaries of the war:
Eastern Inferno: The Journals of a German Panzerjager on the Eastern Front, 1941-43
Commentary:
----------
According to his family members (who published this), it is an honest depiction of his experiences. I believe it is as well, as he is very open here.
Hans Roth was a married family man and most of his original troop within his panzerjager company were professionals, businessmen, teachers, and workers aged around 30. Knowing the probability of his death, Roth's intent was to record his actual feelings at the time and the things he had witnessed and participated for his family.
The entries were written soon after the fact, and they were on his person all the time. Then they were shipped back home to his wife. Included within the diaries are very simple, hasty drawn sketches of the events that he saw.
I had thought if he was considered 'fanatical' or 'normal'. Overall, I don't think he was abnormal among the combat troops of the 299th Infantry division.
An early entry writes how they round up 400 Jews and their load of Red Army POWs, and massacre them all in a town square. They do this even before Kiev.
Then the 6th Army peels off two infantry divisions (the 299th included) into Kiev and they and the SS proceed to terrorize the civilian population for a month (September 1941) and round up thousands of people. He does remark that they were brutal, but his belief was that the cause was correct.
