Have you by any chance had the misfortune of seeing the current trend of perverting Indie music ? Well, for a better example anyway, there's a disturbing trend going on over here right now whereby if a slim teenage girl either whispers with a guitar or badly mimics a singer from another country that most people over here don't know, she gets praised as being 'so original' or 'so unique.' Its becoming somewhat painful to look at. Of course, having endurd the death of R&B already, I'm sure I can endure seeing as how Indie music itself is still alive despite this inconvenience at least .

One always has to be especially vigilant about dodgy pop masquerading as indie/alternative.

I guess imitating bands that are doing well for themselves is always a pretty good career move, though I do find it quite odd that the whole Mumford & Sons aesthetic exploded in the first place, what with the charts being mostly dominated these days by electronic pop music with loud, clubby production.

Ah, Mumford and Sons ...Nice homage to the old school game in the avatar. I don't know why it makes me think of Street Sharks seeing as how I've never seen a single episode of it . I still like to idealize it in my mind as being awesome although I remember it being the headliner in an article about shows that should have been awesome but weren't .

Although it still seems to be Germany's to lose, I'm getting the idea that Brazil might be catching up in fistball. Of course, Brazilians seem to be the best in the world at volleyball by contrast though. A person I spoke with earlier actually thought I made fistball up .

Slight shot in the dark, but I'm going to guess that it's the first Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version. The background has that washed out look to it that just screams 'only 64 colours'.

So tell me Dave, were you a Sega or Nintendo man?

I seem to remember there being some pretty cool looking Street Shark toys back in the day, but sadly I've no memory of ever actually watching the cartoon. At the time, I was more of a Thundercats, Real Ghostbusters, M.A.S.K. and Transformers kind of guy.

Confession time - I had to Google fistball.

If there’s one thing last summer’s Olympics taught me though, it’s that handball and volleyball are brilliant. I was reading recently that sports clubs across the UK were inundated with requests from people wanting to try handball in particular, but since we don't have any history of playing it, we also don't have anything resembling decent facilities. Do you guys play it in the States?

Had to google fistball :persuazn: ! That's just like...everyone else I've mentioned it to . I've always thought some underrated the skill of volleyball. Its also extremely competitive on an international level. Some countries have pretty awesome teams that didn't even medal. I'm more familiar with underwater handball than the floor version and enjoy watching both when I can. I must admit though that a lot of people over here think its ridiculous . There are some that play it although its not as big as it is in some places. Some say there are no rules under the water, even with the ladies .

is it true that recently in volleyball English league a team of Polish immigrants won? My dad told me something like this today

Yeah, I was just reading about that recently. Polonia London (formerly known as Polish YMCA) have won two English league championships in the last three years. I believe they have players of other nationalities now too, but at one time, the team was completely made up of immigrants from Poland.

I was a full on fanboi of Nintendo here during my early heydays of gaming. Oh the nostalgia of picking up that cartridge, blow on the end of it, then snap in that bad boy and play till the eyes could no longer take the TV glare

Funny enough I still have my old Nintendo system from when I was a kid along with a few games, Mario Bros. 1,2,3 of course being some of them

Oh, I also was addicted to my Gameboy! That nifty gadget never let me down!

Thanks to an evil plan hatched with a friend, I had something approaching the best of both worlds in my younger days. He got an SNES, I got a Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and we would regularly swap consoles and games. I remember playing Street Fighter, Pilot Wings, Streets of Rage, Road Rash and Micro Machines almost endlessly as a kid.

I had (and still have) a Gameboy too, though it's not actually of much use these days. Many many years ago, the screen's protective covering came off and when I tried to glue it back on, it clouded up the inside of the screen. It still works, but you can only ever see about half of what's going on in the game.

I was always very intrigued by underwater hockey. Looks incredibly demanding, though I guess that goes for any underwater sport really...

That’s sheer genesis there sir for that age group I wish I thought of something along those lines, I could of prevented endless hours at a friend’s house as he hogged the system for himself and I sat there eating Doritos Oh lord don’t even get me started on Micro Machines, not so much the game just the toy itself. I still have my gigantic collection of Star Wars Micro Machine figuring’s, whole shoebox full of them! I will sell for the right price of course

Ouch, sounds like that wasn’t the right glue there sir to say the least Well, there is always Ebay if you want to rehash old memories of bygone times

I've toyed with the idea of getting a SNES on Ebay quite a bit in recent years, maybe I could try and make it a two-for-one deal.

Never knew you could get Star Wars Micro Machines, but I did have a few of the regular old cars at one time and still have happy memories of those little playsets that you could either slot together or fold into blocks. If I remember correctly, there was a city dump, a car wash and best of all, a brilliant drive-thru fish & chips restaurant that was straight out of a scene from 'Back to the Future'.

^ Well I would purchases that SNES as soon as possible since that supply keeps on dwindling day-by-day and soon you shall be hitting your head against a wall for not purchasing that childhood toy/console of yours. And a 2'ffer sounds like quite the deal

They were a VERY popular collectors item during the years they had them on store shelves. I myself have almost every single vehicle in my collection and at one point was thinking of selling it on Ebay but I quickly came onto my nerdy senses and decided to stay with my babies Ha, you also had some of the cars, neat! I myself had this toy called SuperVan City and it was, well, a van that would unfold into a town and boy did I spend countless hours in that little town of mine. Is it me or are toys just not as creative and simple as they once were yet very imaginative?

Quite honestly, I think you're onto something. From a casual observer's perspective, it seems like the vast majority of modern toys are centered around movie tie-ins and suchlike. I can't imagine toy designers having as much leeway now as they might have had in decades gone by, when there was so much weird and wonderful stuff around.

Not to worry, that’s pretty much how I feel every day.

Every day? How do you cope with it?

That kind of thing's always been quite fascinating to me too, I decided recently that time travel into the past probably isn't possible, because I'd imagine someone would have already come back if it were. But according to Stephen Hawking, it could be possible to travel into the future if you could build up enough speed. I’m kind of skeptical, but I'm not about to start an argument with The Hawk.

I was just watching this recently, thought you might appreciate it... no smegging flapjacks!

Talkie Toaster! I loved that part! btw I watched the whole new series, and I can´t say anything else than just... brilliant! I totally loved it from the first one to the last, especially the Lemons part with Jesus It was really like going home to the first series, and the mooses? I almost pissed my pants

"Is it in Sweden?"

"Yes."

"Moose! It´s a moose!"

As for the time travel - have you seen the MIB 3? It was quite nice, I enjoyed the movie immensely, but they really had some issues with the time travel that could not logically "click" into each other. One has to be veery cautious when it goes to time travel - there are way too many paradoxes not to be overseen.

Oh, and no one is to start an argument with such a brilliant mind! I´ve read a book, it was called Black Hole, from John Taylor I think, and aside from the very informative content about black holes and universe generally (fascinating stuff) he was also hypothetically speaking about time travel via black holes and alternatively entering the parallel universes via black holes. Oh, and there is also another book - from Mr.Smolin, called The Life of Cosmos where he speaks about his multiverse theory which I NEED to have it generally says that our universe, just like the whole life around us, is undergoing the same evolutionary path as every living organism. Fascinating, isn´t it? Mr. Dawkins is quite fond of this theory (although many scientists despise it, but I think that´s just the natural way every theory goes through) and I too really like the idea of it.
